I think a lot of it is owed to Daisy becoming Minnie's foil as much as Donald's. Since Minnie is essentially a Distaff Counterpart of Mickey, Daisy is likely the better choice for the abrasive one of the two (she had a slightly nuts side from the start anyway, see "Donald's Dilemma").

I wonder if Daisy will make an appearance in Duck Tales if Donald is prominent enough this time.

If both she and Webby appear, one or both will need a redesign (even if, for Daisy, it's a previously existing one, like Quack Pack's or House of Mouse's). With May, April and June, they at least had the excuse of being related to Daisy, but Webby is just her unexplained miniature Identical Stranger. I'm not sure if Donald never making a comment on it in the original was a good gag gone to waste or an Unfortunate Implication best not touched.

I can bet very much that Tony Anselmo will return as Donald. He always does.

Maybe Daisy and Webby are related? I mean... we know almost nothing about Webby's family.

Though if Webby and Daisy were related, that would potentially also make her related to Huey, Dewey and Louie, depending on which theories you believe. I think some people interpret Daisy as the triplets' paternal aunt, hence why they usually call her "Aunt Daisy". Though I generally tend to think it's just an honorary title on account of her being their uncle's girlfriend.

I wouldn't mind Webby returning associated with Daisy, replacing Daisy's nieces more completely. With Ms. Beakley turning out to be Daisy's relative or something.

Reinvent Webby for the show, a lot like Lola in The Looney Tunes Show. ......... but not like the nephews in Quack Pack. They're the WRONG ways to do it.

I read in Toonzone that Donald hay have been put on a bus because his voice is REALLY hard to understand. In the comics, he speaks normally. But in a very plot heavy action cartoon you need to understand the characters immediately so the writers may have felt the need to remove him from the picture.

Donald has a major role in the current Mickey shorts, but his lines are overall short and sparing.

You know, for a Goof Troop reboot, I think it'd be interesting if they gave Pete more of his old villainous streak back. Maybe make him a Tony Soprano-like figure, and the gag is, it's obvious Pete actually supports his family through crime, but Goofy is blissfully oblivious to it no matter how many times the evidence/Max/the occasional visit from a Mickey who's in a perennial tug of war foiling Pete's schemes but never quite proving he's guilty hits him in the face about it. Heck, make it so Goofy's antics actually foil whatever Pete is scheming that week without him even realizing it.

Have April Winchell take over the role of Peg! She'd be perfect.

So...what we want is not a reboot but the Disney Afternoon universe which is retooled in a way that all the TV shows we know and loved are now crossing over to each other?

[up][up]? April is the only Peg there ever was. (Well, except in foreign dubs.)

[up][up][up]I'm conflicted about whether or not I want one. The more I like a work in its original form the more skeptical I am a reboot will do it justice... especially if I liked the first for characterization reasons... which is upwards of 90% of the time and includes this time... hmmm...

I think the most important question is...what will become of the theme tune?

I hope they get the rights to the theme, because you can't have a Ducktales series without WOO-HOO!

I thought Quack Pack was OK, really. Giving the triplets more diverging personalities and looks was a good idea, and you're right, Daisy was actually a pretty good character.

[up][up]Why would they NOT have the rights?

Is it stuck in legal limbo?

This is the company that made sure to secure the rights to Kronk's theme music right after the recording session where Patrick Warburton improvised it. I'm sure they have the rights to the Ducktales theme.

You never know. Apparently, the people behind the remake of Inspector Gadget couldn't get the rights to its 80's theme song.

Edvard Grieg came back to life and said they couldn't do any more riffs on "In the Hall of the Mountain King"

Gadgetinis couldn't use any of the old soundtrack either, which is a shame. Penny's Theme is one of my favorite cartoon leitmotifs out there.

Though [up] yeah... them not just making a riff off the original theme is weird, given that the song its based off of is public domain.

Whatever flaws Quack Pack had, thanks to that show, I finally learned who the last two twins were.

For a long time I only knew Huey since he was once kidnapped and replaced by one of the beagle boys using a disguise machine. After that, I could never remember who the other two were.

Thanks to Quack Pack keeping the colours, I finally figured out who was Dewey, and who was Louie.

Also, I thought the T-squad was funny. And I always will.

Edit: Bring back Memlock.

This is Disney. You can be sure they own everything associated with Ducktales, much less anything created specifically for it.

Webby is meant to be Mrs.Beakley's (Huey, Dewey and Louie's nanny) granddaughter, right? Some other folks here mentioned her being linked to Daisy, and I can't remember Daisy ever being so much as mentioned in the series. I think their excuse for Donald's not being around was that he'd (re?)joined the Navy. I kinda feel like Mrs. Beakley served much the same purpose as Dick Grayson's Aunt Harriet did over in Batman for the brief period she was around (and the longer period she was on the 60's Batman tv show), to alleviate an otherwise overwhelmingly masculine cast. It does make sense that an old bachelor like Scrooge would immediately hire a nanny when he got stuck with the boys...

Truthfully, I think linking Webby, Beakly and Daisy is a nice idea.

Of course, first we need to see if they are actually in it first.

Oh, they didn't get in trouble for sounding like Hall & Oates' "You Make My Dreams Come True"?
