I remember that story. Korhonen often writes storylines that despite their often tried and done plots manage to somehow rise above the average duck stories.

Yesterday was the 31st anniversary of the first airing of the original Ducktales! Woohoo!

I find the fact that there is at least one IP that I consider part of my childhood and that is still actually older than me to be somewhat soothing.[lol]

It's not older than me, though not by much.

[up][up][up] And Launchpad’s 31st birthday as well!

Speaking of LP, how do you think he ended up working for Scrooge in this universe anyway?

So two weeks late, but wait, isn't it Chinese that used tone to note meaning? I thought Japanese had only context not intonation

Both Mandarin and Cantonese are tonal languages, meaning that the same syllable spoken at different pitches has different meanings — they're effectively completely different words despite having the same pronunciation (besides tone). Japanese isn't a true tonal language, but does have what's called "pitch accent", meaning that certain words can be changed by using different tones for different syllables, but it's more like using emphasis to differentiate between homophones than anything else.

(I don't speak any of these languages, so take my understanding of how they work with a grain of salt.)

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

I feel like this performer was trying really hard for most of the first Donald verse and then gave up.

Also what is Daffy talking about linking Donald to Nazis?

That probably refers to Donald's wartime cartoon where he dreams about being a Nazi factory drudge.

Oh yeah, the one that shows that it's terrible to be a worker in Nazi Germany, but at least you can HEILtonguetonguetongue right in der Fuher's face.

[up][up] He shouldn’t talk. While the Donald Duck one is the most infamous Wartime Propoganda cartoon, the Disney wartime stuff actually tends to holds up a lot better than the Warner Brother’s stuff did.

Were there many other cartoons were a famous American cartoon character features as a Nazi? Even in a dream?

It's a peculiar choice, that much can't be denied.

[up] I’m not sure, but I don’t believe so, hence why it is so infamous. I do consider it to be one of the better Wartime Cartoons though, because it’s legitimately funny, and is *relatively* light on Racist Stereotypes (for the time, anyway.)

Just in case anyone hasn't seen it:

I agree it was a good cartoon, but I can imagine it causing controversy, especially near the end of the war.

From Frank:

MORE DUCKS IN LESS THAN A MONTH! SEASON 3! WOOOOO-OOOOOOOOO!!! #Duck Tales

Things I’m extra excited about: @pagetpaget being AMAZING as Della, some crazy plot twists and turns in Louie’s arc this season, AND I MADE A CARTOON WITH JACK MCBRAYER AGAIN! #Duck Tales

Also, we got to work with @edgarwright , whose work @theironwrist and I always talked about as a foundational reference for #Duck Tales 2017, in an episode that is INSANELY dear to my heart.

Season Two is a doozy.

And the stuff we’re doing in Season 3 would have broken 10 year-old me’s brain.

[up] What will his story arc be, I wonder? Maybe it has to do with Della?

On an unrelated note, the Animation on von Drake here is just so nice.

Like the character animation is just so expressive and fluid and full of personality, that you can tell just from his movements what type of character he is.

Like the wildest, and most impressive part is when he's rocking out to "Rock Rumble and Roll" at the end, but there's a lot of other great animation sequences that shouldn't be overlooked either. I love how fluidly that huge fur coat moves at 4:11, and some of his poses and expressions are absolutely priceless.

The stop motion is interesting, and impressive in it's own right, as well, although maybe leans a bit into uncanny valley sometimes.

So season 2 was already pretty deep in production when the premiere happened, right?

Yes it should be like 3/4 into its production at least.

I'm curious. How do you guys think Launchpad ended working for Scrooge in this continuity? My first thought is that it was because he was cheap, but that's kinda debatable, since he's such an awful driver and regularly crashes and wrecks his cars.

Maybe he's subconsciously drawn towards people who have a bit of adventure in their blood?
