Given this post about the Karnage episode...

It’s actually NOT the wrong voice, but you’d have to give the episode a chance to find out what I mean. If I’ve got ANY cred as someone who champions the Disney Afternoon, I encourage you to keep an open mind. It’s an amazing episode from a team that delivers nonstop.

... I'm inclined to believe the he's the original Karnage's son theory.

Yeah, Huey apparently hotwiring Fenton's brain to the suit was weird. Like, really weird. Its one thing to be a technical genius, but a brain surgeon?

I mean, I took that moment to mean that Fenton would control the suit by himself, instead of having an AI do it. I didn't expect them to LITERALLY hotwire his brain to the suit.

[up]x5 Just watch the whole show be a Batman Gambit to get Frank in charge of the Darkwing Duck reboot.

FYI, Jamie is also Panchito in Legends Of The Three Caballeros, so it makes sense that we now have all 3 caballero voice actors in this show. But didn't Jim Cummings voice him way back?

[up] yes, he did.

I never watched the show though, but from what I've seen on You Tube, his Voice was half the fun of his character.

God knows what his accent is supposed to he though.

Also, according to Frank the G on the suit stands for "Gyro Labs".

Dewy's late night show looks like it's going to be a reoccurring feature.

Also, I just found this, and it is bizarre. The video quality is not good, but it has Paul Frees voicing an obscure Disney Comics character, Moby Duck, as animated by Ward Kimball, teaching us about the Pacific Ocean.

Never knew Moby Duck has appeared in animated form. That animation looks so nice.

"Exotic" native dances and cannibals. This cartoon has not aged very well.

I would love for Disney to release best of "Wonderful World of Color" Box Set (since it went on for years), or even just a classic Ludwig one.

They should have used Moby Duck more often, but then again he would feel redundant since Donald is already a sailor himself.

[up] he's not dressed like a Sailor, he's dressed as a small child! At the time he was created, sailor suits were popular for children's clothing, and middle name Fauntleroy, was the name of a popular clothing manufacturer.

I know that. And Donald Duck dressing in that fashion was supposed to be ironic, but since people have forgotten about that trend it's become sort of a Weird Al Effect for the character. In some places, Donald has be portrayed as a legitimate sailor.

Moby Duck is such a weird character design. It's like a cross between Ludwig von Drake and the Italian style at it's loosest and most abstract.

So how did you guys like the new Mama Crackshell? Honestly, she didn't make much of an impression on me, other than that she now spouts the occasional Spanish phrase. Being a cop is interesting, but nothing is done with that idea here. I'm glad they didn't stray too far from the flawed woman we got in Ducktales, but for now, she hasn't made much of an impression.

And yeah, she's Latino now. Yay, representation, I guess. But if that doesn't do anything for you, there's not much else to the character yet.

"Sorry I don't speak Horse Code." [lol]

That whole character is like the writers seeing how far they can drag this trollish thing along. It's like asking ".... do ya get it, or do you think we finally lost our minds?"

To tell you the truth this seems more like something found in Gravity Falls, which loves their recurring weird jokes.

I liked Fenton's mother a lot. Her being positive representation is just the cherry on top.

[up] I like her too. grin

I think the problem was that this episode was trying to do so many things at once, none of them had the impact it should have, because they were moving along so quickly.

One review mentioned that this could easily have been like five episodes. But its all crammed into one, and it makes it feel rushed and unfulfilling.

Three Caballeros had a similar problem in an episode where they go to the Underworld, and its just one cool idea after another, without any pause to explore any of them. Its not that the ideas themselves were not good, but that there were too many crammed into one episode. It also created problems with internal consistency, because some of those ideas contradict each other at face value, and are never explained (Why are the dead waiting in line for eternity when they just can walk out the door and get a job in the underworld? Why are those waiting in line zombie ghosts, but everyone else normal ghosts? Except for the Caballeros and certain important characters, who look normal?)

The same happens here, in a way. Beaks goes from hating him and hunting him down, to being rescued and loving him, to hiring and exploiting him, to taking over the suit himself and failing at being a hero, to being defeated and forced to give the suit up, all in a fast frenzy, with no time to really explore any of those story beats. Each of those steps could have easily been its own episode. Combined with Gizmo's first episode, that would make a great 6 episode opener to its own series.

It would also have benefitted Beaks' characterization, who comes off as a total schizophrenic here because he goes through the motions of an entire character arc in all of 15 minutes.

Optimism is a duty.
