I'm more acquainted with Blue Shirt!Donald since I never really read the comics, but I'll give Black Shirt!Donald a chance.
By the way, seeing the SDCC teaser art, I notice that Webby's segment has photos and strings being connected to those photos by pushpins.
To anyone else who noticed it, you guys think that this time around, Webby's now some kind of Conspiracy Theorist Genki Girl or at least a Genki Girl who's fascinated with unexplainable phenomenon or even Mabel Pines if she shared her brother's fixation towards finding the bizarre? And it's here that I realize how redundant the last two suggestions probably are. Whatever. Question still stands.
It's kinda weird to see Webby (adorable design, by the way) with a Magic Skirt since Duck stories never concerned themselves with that kind of thing.
...
I want a crossover with Darkwing Duck at some point, just like in the comics (before both were apparently rebooted).
One Strip! One Strip!Did you think the original Duck Tales had any flaws that you think the new show can avoid or improve?
Donald's presence is, in my opinion, a huge improvement. I like Launchpad, but Donald will, when necessary, actually stand up to Scrooge in a way that none of the other characters will. Launchpad will always bow to "Mr. Mc D," and the boys will try to appeal to his sense of reason, but Donald has flat out told him when he's being an obsessive maniac. It'll be good for the humor level of the show, too, in that they can have Scrooge be more extreme if they have Donald to drag him back.
I like Launchpad as a recurring character rather than a regular. Like, Scrooge's personal pilot who only appears in rare situations where Scrooge needs him, and is often referred to as a Hero of Another Story.
Which considering his transfer over to Darkwing Duck, is a pretty accurate way to see him.
Once again, I wonder if there'll be a crossover.
I wonder if they'll bring back Gizmo Duck as well. I mean, Webby wasn't in the original comics either, so there's room for characters purely from the T.V. show.
One Strip! One Strip!I could see them full-on transferring Gizmo to Darkwing Duck (since outside of the suit Fenton is another character whose role in the plot is basically just Donald's), though if they do I hope they keep Fenton as a character rather than mostly Gizmoduck.
One of the best things about Gizmoduck (besides how fun a parody of The Cape he was on Darkwing) was how hilariously different he was as Fenton and as Gizmo, but he only appeared as Fenton once on DW's show.

I liked Gizmoduck but he was a Spotlight-Stealing Squad at times. I imagine he will at least cameo at one point or be an recurring character. Alternatively they could have Donald be Paperinik and have him do basically the same.
How similar is Darkwing to Papernik?
I don't know much about the latter outside of being an (apparently very competent) super hero alter ego of Donald's but if the two are two similar, then they might go with Papernik instead of bringing in Darkwing.
Then again, they could have them have a Bat Man / Green Arrow dynamic, since those two used to be (and to some extent still are) very similar, despite numerous differences as well.
One Strip! One Strip! As much as I liked Gizmoduck, he (as with Bubba, who I'm pretty sure nobody'll miss) was a subsequent season addition, introduced to change up the dynamic of the show. The used to do that all the time on cartoons, introducing new characters to the core group for no other reason then their newness. In Gizmoduck's case, it worked, whereas Bubba came off more as The Scrappy or the Cousin Oliver. Gizmoduck led them into new story territory, while Bubba didn't add anything and was just inserted into stories for no particularly good reason. I'd prefer they just keep Ducktales to the core group, and if they want to do superheroes, bring back Darkwing (with Gizmoduck as a supporting player).
I did like it that, on a few occasions, they built stories around Fenton without bringing Gizmoduck into it. The one where Scrooge had amnesia and Fenton had to impersonate him was pretty good.
Okay so we didn't get any other new stuff from SDCC.
Big deal.
But hey! In honor of Dancing with the Stars planning to have some Olympian chick and some other guy Olympian Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy dance to the Duck Tales theme song pretty soon, we got a glimpse of the reboot's logo!

Triple-bumping because HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS YET?!?!?!?
Some things to take from the teaser image:
- Webby's got a grappling hook gun.
- Donald's got his classic sailor cap again. They didn't have to, but hey, I ain't complaining!
- And oh yeah, it's our first look at LAUNCHPAD MCQUACK!!!!

i can't wait to see some footage. the designs look great, but i'm itching to see them in motion.
