"Hello my name is Ryu and I will be invalidating everyone else's character arcs tonight.
You are not alone.I bought 6.
I saw Rachel and I thought hey, I want her! So I checked her price and it was seven bucks.
Bit much for just one character. But she came in a bundle!... Which just included some okayish costumes. Fourteen bucks.
But wait! Apparently she came in the season pass too! Hey maybe I can grab her and the other characters all at once... Wait. It's a hundred bucks. For season pass... 3. There are three of these.
Holy fuck. No wonder they made another one of these instead of Ninja Gaiden 4.
You are not alone.6 has the best graphics and fighting system but other than that there isn't anthing drawing to the game. I still play 5 a lot more than that game. Not likely play it more often until they bring back the Tag Team battles.
Macron's notesI got 6, which is currently on sale until the 15th. Only 30 bucks!
Haven't really played much yet, just dwaddled with my girl tina for like 5 minutes in training but I do dig the little posters on the character select screen. Every fighter having their little title is a neat touch.
But man Nico's design looks even more painfully uninspired and even generic than I remember. Also how come Rig's hoodie does the tekken tag tournament 2 thing where it kinda floats on his character model lol? Weirdly DOA 6 looks sorta last gen IMO, in some ways. The stages seem pretty though and the character select music is cool.

Okay wtf is up with the costumes? Some of the dudes don't even have more than two minus the DLC???! This is a travesty smh. One thing about DOA is that they deliver on costumes, but this? This is embarrassing. They lock so much behind DLC, coins and it sucks.
Also feels like there's a TON of recycled assets from DOA 5. Reused intros/win poses to where it feels cheap, And I gotta say, Nico/Diego's animations are kinda...clunky? They aren't quite as good as new characters were in the past.
Yeah I don't see myself playing this too long...already feels like a step down from DOA 5 U/LR.
I'm confused about Rachel's supposed mature appeal. It's not that I don't find her attractive but it's weird to see people talking about her like she's some kind of "sexy older woman" icon like Ivy or Sindel. She doesn't look or sound any older than any of the other female characters that aren't teens. Maybe I'm missing something here.
First I've heard of that. Most of her appeal i have seen revolves around her height and dominatrix outfit.
She probably IS the oldest woman on the roster bar possibly nyotengu, that just doesn't mean much. I think King Of Fighters took twenty five years to introduce a female character over twenty five.
Related: Do you gravitate more towards male or female fighters?
I first read up on it in the DOA YMMV page
, specifically Rachel's section under ensemble darkhorse. I also saw this being expressed in reddit and youtube comments on her DOA 6 debut trailer. Some even went as far as calling her a MILF, despite her not even being a mother.
I think Christie and Helena are older.
Christie and Helena were 28 and 22 last time I checked.
Then again, that's back when Kasumi and Ayane were 17 and 16, and now they are 19 and 18 respectively if I understand, so I guess they'd be 30 and 24 now.
So if Rachel is older than that, than yeah she'd be the oldest female in the cast.
One Strip! One Strip!Finished the story mode. I liked the whole business between Helena and NiCO, as well as letting the player decide who gets to off Raidou(I chose Ayane) but overall it was just whatever. For as dumb DOA 5's story was at times it did feel like more happened during it.
I hate honoka's entire existence and don't understand why they felt we needed this character to exist. I hate everything about her.
It actually bugs the heck outta me that the 4th sibling is a straight up rip off Honoka from Love Live! Out of place, pandering to otaku nerds and cheapens the writing for me. I also hate that Honoka "inherited" her gift rather than it being a learned skill. Everything about Honkers is just...dumb. She's a crappy fanfic character and her existence actively makes the entire story worse.

And yet she's super popular because otaku fucks have no taste.
What really bothered me about Honoka is that she has Marie Rose's face. It's creepy AND lazy. Did they change it in 6? I haven't checked.
At least she has a slightly different body type than the rest of the women; someone on the dev team realized boobs are made of fat. And as long as we're talking body types still waiting on DOA to deliver us an Amazonian Beauty.
What is the point of Diego. I thought Rig already fulfilled his character archetype. (Rough and tumble street fighter) Did they just want to fulfill it again with less baggage?

You are not alone.Well rig is a street fighter but his TKD is more refined and technical than Diego's Miguel-esque street brawling. I honestly like that Jahn lee didn't win again but also find it kinda dumb Diego beat a bunch of trained martial artists who have more DOA experience than him? Then again I guess he's got more stakes so maybe his heart was in it more...idk it seemed a bit silly and kind of unbelievable.
With Tekken giving us someone like Leroy Smith I feel like Doa needs to step up its game. Diego and Nico aren't... Terrible but as newcomers go they didn't really excite.
Not that 6 is a bad game. The fighting mechanics are as refined as always.
You are not alone.I feel like if not for DOA's reputation when it comes to female characters, Mila could have gotten them some really good attention.
Any other martial arts styles you think DOA could introduce? Also @Shirow Shirow, what do you think of that idea for a Tekken/DOA crossover from last page?
Edit: I think a Cambodian Bokator
fighter would be an interesting addition to the game. I don't think any fighting game has ever had a Cambodian and part of what made Leroy such a hit is that he was using a fighting style that wasn't seen often in fighting games.

Not disagreeing on that, it still looks off.
Already acknowledged on the last page
Not sure why people would call her that but whatever.
I doubt that they are older than Rachel. Also Nyou Tengu exists.
Yea, not sure why Diego had to tie up with Jann Lee, but I guess Lei Fang wasn't good enough.

5 was better in the newcomer department.
Funny enough I feel like Diego was more pandering than Nico was.

Pencack silat, a rare style not repped in fighting games from an area of the world not repped often in fighting games and they gave it to a blue haired super powered animu allegedly European 18 year old girl.
They had many ways to do a pencack silat fighter, and with Ni CO's execution, it's easy to see how it was pandering.

If there's anything DOA 6's story did right, it was given the player the choice who should kill Raidou for good. I can't still believe they screw Kasumi over like that back in Dimension.
At least Ryu didn't steal the spotlight like he did back Dimension.
