I wonder if they'll have butt jiggle in this game? Soul Calibur 2 had it and it's kind of fascinating looking back at how Soul calibur kind of had the fanservice art down so well to where a lot of fighters afterwards weren't on its level.
I like just from an artistic point of view the dedication to detail was kind of amazing.
They'll probably cave into Fan demand and add it back as DLC at some point, if it doesn't do as well as they hope.
Watch SymphogearThose two look fantastic. Can they kiss yet!?
On the subject of a Guest Fighter: It's gonna be Kazuma Kiryu.
You are not alone. And thus, the cabbage wars begin again.
Gonna slightly miss lei-Fang's Cheong Sams though. Rob won't lie.
One Strip! One Strip!
If you played either Lei Fang or Hitomi in DO 4, there's a cutscene in the Seaside Market
stage where Hitomi tried to buy a cabbage from Muramasa from Ninja Gaiden but Lei Fang managed to buy it (Hitomi tried to ask for a discount but Muramasa didn't look like he waned to budge). Cue Designated Girl Fight.

I mean, in almost any other fighting game it would be totally innocent but in a game with DOA's reputation?
I'm really digging their new looks, but don't have much else to say about them. At this point I think I'm firmly more interested in new blood as opposed to returning characters.

All it does is pick up a character and slam them into another part of the stage. There's nothing immediately "icky" about it unless you're already aware of the whole "naughty tentacles" thing, in which case the mere existence of a tentacle anywhere in this game, even as a background object and not a stage interaction, would set off the same flags.
I don't mind the stage interaction myself, because it fits the stage (looks suitably painful, though not to the levels of Mortal Kombat of course), but I'm not too fond of having to endure the cavalcade of Lenny faces and lewd comments because of it.note
Side note, but I'd like to think the thing belongs to some Ninja Gaiden-esque aquatic demon instead of it just being another "giant Kraken attacks ship" creature, but that's just me kind of wanting even more links between that series and DOA.
As for the stage, it reminds of Uncharted a lot, especially the interior.
I didn't see a video link in that article, but here's the trailer for them.
Not bad ladies.
You know, despite the fact that they are distancing themselves from the fan service aspect of the series, it's funny that the two characters who's friendship first began in one of those fan service games are paired together.
After the cabbage fight, Lei Fang and Hitomi have been permanently in a friendly on again off again rivals state of mind.
I kinda wish the trailer had ended with a split screen of each girl landing a big punch to the other's jaw like what we've seen in the reveal trailer, like a sort of Cinematic Cross Counter.
One Strip! One Strip!I meant "innocent" as in, doesn't invoke images of hentai.

Like I said, DOA's reputation plus the Internet being the Internet makes those types of jokes inevitable. Hopefully, it isn't the only thing people get out of this game.
I mean, remember this little bit from Ninja Gaiden at 3:48?

Now consider this is made by the same company.

Yea, but it's not always out of spite either. Doesn't change it's repetitive & it's worn out, but they're really saying for easy brownie points.
Regarding what? That can they be brutalizing? That's kinda the reason why Hayabusa is one of my favorite video game characters. Now if only I can beat one of his games.
@vicarious
: From what I had gathered, even in his last year he never gave up on returning to work on Dead Fantasy, but admitted that he had obligations to fulfill (namely, working on RWBY with Rooster Teeth). It's a shame that his fatal allergic reaction came so unexpectedly even to him; apparently (because AFAIK there's no official word), unlike with RWBY, there's not enough notes and the like for anyone (even Rooster Teeth, the most likely people to take Dead Fantasy up) to work with for an attempted continuation.

If there was a Western guest character in this game I would want it to be Yang from RWBY as a tribute to Monty. Not because of the fanservice answer but because I think out of all the characters he made for RWBY she's the one whose fighting style would translate best into this kind of fighting game. Sadly I doubt the developers would even be aware of Dead Fantasy so that's one pipe dream that won't come true.
I feel like Yang's design would be a little too anime-esque/brightly-colored for a game that's trying to be as serious and photo-realistic as this one.
It'd be like sticking Paper Mario into Tekken. You could certainly take Mario and make him into a more realistically-proportioned fighter, but Paper Mario has a distinctive, two-dimensional chibi design that would clash with Tekken's visual style.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I mean, I understand where you are coming from but you could say the exact same things about Mai Shiranui.
You are not alone.

I'm hopeful that there'll be more Ninja Gaiden characters in this game, so for now, I'd say they are a solid "maybe".
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.
