March 15th, Fourth Day of the Quarantine, City Hall, 9:47 AM

Standing up at the podium with armed military troops surrounding the area to keep things under control, the Mayor clears her throat a bit before addressing the citizens.

"Due to rumors spreading around, I have called this town meeting. There have been reports of people claiming to see monsters or humans doing unnatural things since the quarantine began. These are people and animals who have been affected by a biological agent E.L.D.O.N released with their explosion. However-"

People starting to panic, the military troops try to calm them down as the Mayor speaks up louder. "However, the effects of this agent has been greatly exaggerated. The most extreme things these victims will display is increased strength, due to increased adrenaline and disruption of myostatin. The 'monsters' are simply those whose muscles and or bones have started tearing through their skin."

While some seemed to have calmed down, a woman in her mid twenties stands up with quickly twitching. Glaring at the mayor, the woman calls out annoyed "Come on, those are lies and you know! I'll show you proof!"

Looking at the younger woman, the Mayor pulls a bit on her collar. "Well, if you have proof then do show us. How ever my sources are very accurate."

Raising her eyebrow slightly, the blonde haired woman starts opening her purse as she speaks "Fine then, prepare to humiliated as I show the truth." Suddenly the woman disappears, quickly followed by the troops getting killed with their guns. Reappearing next to the Mayor with one of the rifles in her hands, the woman proceeds to knock the Mayor down.

Turning towards the crowd, she throws out her arms as she speaks with a boastful voice. "I am one of those 'victims', granted with inhuman speed. I can free you all from these military impersonators, if you listen to me. Those that oppose will not be saved!"

Near Ground Zero, Evacuated Living Area

Rolling down the street are two armored vehicles, with sandwiched inbetween a mobile command center. Calmly, methodically patrolling the area, the military units seem to be searching for something. Searching for them, however, is something lurking among the ruins.

"~Nothing odd yet, no infected entities encountered so far. Reports state there's... Wait, seriously? Um, ahem, yesterday's report details an encounter with an infected bear in this area. It intelligently attacked the scouts, likely implying it is a human who can assume ursine form. To that end, we have been outfitted with weapons to dispose of it. Any questions?~"

From within the command, a new recruit speaks up. "Does the man-bear possess super human... ursine? Well, do they possess any other abilities?" Looking at the young woman, the speaker goes over the report once more. Broadcasting into the two armored vehicles as well, she speaks gruffly.

"~Aside from the qualities of a bear and presumably free change between human & ursine, nothing else was noted. Shouldn't take too much, but as you all can tell we probably have too much for it. Other things might always show up, or the infected might showcase new abilities. Will that be-~"

Before she could finish, the mobile command suddenly finds itself crashing onto its side by a sudden ramming force. Outside the vehicles stands a bipedal bear-like creature, roaring at the three vehicles with claws brandished.

The Eastern Library

Off in a corner, a young woman with brown hair dully reads through a book about hurricanes and similar while other books are stacked in front of her. Laying the book in front of her before planting her head on it, she groans.

"Excuse me miss, but I couldn't help noticing the various weather books you have here. I'm studying Meteorology myself, so perhaps I could tell you some facts or give some advice?" Looking up from her book to see a slightly older man with blonde hair and blue eyes, she looks at him questioningly... Before excitingly asking "Really!? Oh gosh that would be so much easier! I never really used books to study for, and its seriously worse than internet! I don't even get how people managed without!"

Chuckling a bit at her excitement, he replies "Well, first piece of advice... Have friends that'll protect you." Initially confused, a small electric device slips from his sleeve before suddenly shocking her. Falling to the floor convulsing, he puts his other hand to his chin and obliviously muses to himself as panic starts up. "Perhaps that was too much power... Well, better leave with her quick before people mistake this."

"The Omniverse is the collection of all possibilities, and all possibilities must eventually come to pass."

The Eastern Library - Outside

The old motorcycle chugged in complaint as its rider brought it to a cautious halt in one of many vacant parking spots. Understandably most residents or unfortunate visitors of downtown weren't in the mood for reading after the... the whatever it was. Susie Martin felt her mind already latching onto a thousand conclusions and accusations and it made her mind feel like a ball of thread.. no, not thread - wires. Wires and bugs and ~ One hand clutching her forehead the young musician forced this to a stop, voices still whispering, shouting around her as her knuckles became white from clutching the bike. "Shut up, you're wrong... You aren't there, there is a logical explanation to this fuckery!"

An older couple walking tensely past quickened their pace at this outburst, the rider seemingly too preoccupied with convincing herself or whomever she conversed with to get off the bike. Susie Q, as she was called, felt her skin crawl as she tied her helmet to backpack. Unsteadily dismounting the contraption and fidgeting as she contemplated the building itself. They're inside you already, might as well meet their masters... One disembodied voice muttered, Martin flinched and found herself scratching at a quivering lump on her arm in some futile attempt to extract it, "No, not listening. Inside I can think - yes, it's safe. Just books. Safe books. With answers - books have answers, always."

As she nervously entered the establishment a keen observer might see a large beetle-like creature claw its way through a wound in her lower neck.

The Eastern Library - Inside

Susie emerged from the medical section with great caution, eyes searching for anything amiss. She tried to sort the events of just a few days ago in her head - it must have been a hallucination, a confusion. I was riding my bike from hom- no, to home yes! I forgot my wallet and meds, had to get to uni. Fuck, am I late tutor will kill me, tell the... the. She stopped and looked around the tables of the main floor, a woman had surrounded herself with meteorology books not far away so Q made for a space at least a table away facing the majority of the patrons present. Just to be sure.

''Right, riding. Then there was a explosion, wait no it wasn't. Something hit me. Went into, no impossible! Concussion, must be it. Can't, can't..." Susie's mind continued to run itself in circles, the voices about her not helping to clear matters. The books before her were practically to memory as it was, no real reason to look through them again - her delusions of parasites in her body made for ample motivation regarding their 'research' in the past. But with soldiers patrolling the streets and trapped in this cruddy neighborhood she needed some kind of goal.

Suddenly Susie Q's attention was captured by the brown haired woman across the floor - she had collapsed, an older man above her. She wasn't moving but the man seemed less than concerned, the musician screwing up her eyes and burying herself into the books. Curiosity and concern burned but was terrified to investigate directly. However, her subconscious seemed want more information and the beetle once at her neck took flight - it hovered silently a meter or two above the pair's heads and somehow Martin felt she was looking down on them too.

City Hall, 9:50

Yecotis watched from the shadows of a nearby building watching the mayor's speech unfold. He idly stuck his hand in his pocket and lightly fingered the orb. The orb, he thought. Wonder what you could be? He didn't have long to wonder though as he saw a strange, blonde-haird woman attack and kill the mayor's body guards. Yecotis took his hand out of his pocket and watched in morbid fascination. The woman had knocked the mayor down and was declaring something to the crowd. They appeared to be hostile towards her at first. Even from this distance Yecotis could hear boo's and thinly-veiled threats directed at the woman. She started speaking to the crowd again and they slightly calmed down and started actually listening to her.

Yecotis couldn't hear what she was saying, but the crowd seemed inclined to listen. Yecotis threw down the newspaper he was using as cover and starts walking towards the crowd. As Yecotis approached he could hear the woman saying, "...and I can tell you exactly what we should do about what's happened..." when he started pushing through the crowd, drawing his knife. The blonde woman saw him and readied herself for an assault from the front. Yecotis burst from the crowd and raised his knife. Smiling he charged at her. Running full-tilt and wildly slashing the air with his knife, he was an image of suicidal madness and just as she was about to strike, the mad man with the knife vanished before her. He smiled as he quickly melted before her, leaving her confused. The crowd had dispersed at this point and she cast a glance out to where they once stood.

She almost let out a sigh when she felt cold steel enter her back, just between her shoulder-blades. She heard muffled laughter behid her and the knife stabbed her again and again. She was spun around and saw Yecotis, laughing madly and wildly stabbing her in the throat and stomach. Her blood poured out onto his hands, staining them a deep red and he let her drop to the ground. She looked up at him and tried to ask why.

Yecotis sneered at her and said, "Now now, we can't have agent provocateurs running around underminning people's faith in government, now can we?" She died and he felt fantastic. He did a little dance. He was full of energy. Yecotis looked back at the mayor who was steadily getting back to his feet. The mayor shook his head and said, "Wha? Wh-who are you?" Yecotis shook the mayor's hand and said, "Don't worry about me, yet. I'm just here to help enforce order amongst this new chaos." Yecotis gestured to the city around them, "I will be out and about, and I will fight this new chaos. In fact..." Yecotis scratched his chin. "Hmm, this new chaos needs a new order. Mm-hmm, most definetely." He turned away from the mayor and walked away whistling. The mayor was dumbfounded and demanded, "That... that was murder! You expect to get away with that!?" Yecotis looked evilly at him. The mayor shivered and took a step back. Yecotis raised his right hand and said, "She killed like what, five guys? With their own guns no less. Do they think they can get away with this!?" Yecotis gestured wildly and the mayor flinched. There were sirens in the distance and Yecotis burst into a sprint away from there as fast as possible.

A random bar bathroom

Yecotis had run from the town hall meeting because he had felt the stirrings of a hallucination. Suddenly, there was a tickle in his lungs. It made him cough and the tickle turned into an itch. The itch slowly traveled from his lungs towrds his armpit. His whole right armed itched like billions of fire ants. He scratched till his arm bled and the itch stopped. He felt a pain in his wrist and looked at it. It looked like a blister or boil, but it was a human eye growing from his wrist. It just stared at him unblinking. Yecotis screamed. He screamed until he couldn't breathe and the eye still stared at him. Yecotis He heard a voice call out to him. He fell to his knees in a prayer-like position and started praising the name, "Blastizatchowhitz". Dear, sweet Yecotis. You can make them see, you can make new truths, but can you speak to them? Can they hear? No. Dear, sweet Yecotis, make them hear him you. You must make them hear you. Yecotis was at a loss to how he could do that, but Blastizatchowhitz would supply him as always. Dear, sweet Yecotis, the power in that woman. Rip it from her body and consume it. Find others like her, like you and do the same. Rip their power out, do what must be done. Yecotis walked out of the water closet and took a seat at the bar. He looked to his left and saw the bartender dead, but propped up. Yecotis leaned over the bar and took his knife out of the bartender and the wall. The bartender's body slid down and hit the floor with a thud. Yecotis grinned wildly and declared to the rest of the bar, "Alright, fellows, I believe I have a hot date!"

Near Ground Zero

Martin walked idly along a now abandoned sidewalk. It was so strange seeing this part of the city abandoned. A twinge of fear tingled within him as he considered whether he was even allowed to be here. With no one around, it was worrisome, but he convinced himself that as he wasn't really doing anything wrong then surely no one would object.

Martin hadn't returned here since the incident a few days ago. He still wasn't quite sure what to make of what happened. His memory was a bit hazy, but he distinctly remembered being struck by something. Something happened, but after that was all a blur, and now...

A tickling in his nose caused him to sneeze, and he quickly covered his mouth with his right hand. His glasses fell loose in the act, and with his free hand he returned them to place. In spite of himself, Martin found himself staring at his right hand. He remembered what had happened. And he knew he wasn't the same anymore. Clenching his fingers shut, he then opened them, revealing a small orb about the size of a marble, radiating with a soft, comforting light, but then the light was gone as the orb disappeared. He couldn't risk someone seeing, but he had to be sure he could still do it.

Shaking his head, Martin dismissed the thought. He knew he could do it. That was enough in a way, but he did not understand the how; he didn't understand the why? For what reason did he have this power? Surely the incident was the cause, but what was he supposed to do now? Should he reveal his condition to the military? They could have doctors; they might be able to help, but... Help...? But why? Is this really a bad thing, that's happened to me? Martin didn't know what was afflicting him, but when he saw it for himself; when he saw his light with his own eyes, it didn't feel like a bad thing.

Suddenly a terrible crashing sound broke Martin from his daydreaming, followed by a terrible, bestial roar. His heart raced, and he knew whatever had made that sound was surely dangerous, but his body moved faster than he could think. Perhaps, subconsciously at least, he had come here seeking answers? If that was the case, he couldn't turn his eyes from what he found, even if it was frightening. He had to see.

Rounding a corner, Martin gave a start, quickly doubling back and hiding behind the building he had just come round. Sticking his head back round the corner, he watched as the bestial creature he had heard was given form. It seemed to be attacking the military, but why? He didn't know what to make of this situation, and for the time could only watch to see what happened.

The Slums, Short Street

[1]

Haile rummaged around Short Street, hoping to find some reasonably unspoiled food that the supermarkets had thrown out. Fortunately, Short Street was the biggest alley in the city, and the locals had named it Short Street in a fit of irony, so it yielded a good amount of canned food and the like. After filling the canvas shopping bag he carried around for occasions just such as this, as well as another bag, Haile set off back to his apartment at a quick jog.

The Slums, 32nd Street

Haile slowed to a stop when he reached the front of his apartment complex. It didn't look like much on the outside - in fact, it looked just as grimy and gross as the rest of the buildings in the area. But on the inside... Well, it still wasn't much. But it was comfy, and the landlady was a friend of his and his dad's, so they paid less rent than everyone else. The other residents tended to look out for each other, as well. Haile climbed the set of stairs to the second floor, greeting the landlady as he did so, who sat inside working as a receptionist, and unlocked the door to apartment 216, his apartment, with his key. "Hey Dad, I'm back!"

"Haile! Come here! You need to see this." His dad called from the living room, a note of worry in his accented voice.

Haile frowned. Such worry was uncommon in his dad, and it usually meant something was terribly wrong. He set the bag of food on the kitchen counter (such as it was - it was tiny) and walked into the tiny living room.

[2]

His dad was in his wheelchair, sitting in front of the small TV. Haile could see the worry on his face from here.

On the TV was the mayor's speech. Or rather, super speed lady's speech. Haile arrived just in time for the part where she offered to help free the citizens from the military. Haile's brow furrowed, and he grimaced. "Dad, what do we do about this?"

Haile's dad, Addisu, looked at him. "We stock up and wait this out. How much food did you get just now?"

"Two bags full. How long will this last, d'you think?"

Addisu grimaced in almost exactly the same fashion as Haile, then said, "As long as that ሴት ውሻ is around, most likely." He pointed at the TV screen, where super speed ሴት ውሻ was still giving her speech.

Haile grinned slightly. "Sure doesn't look like it'll last long. She's getting booed off the podium."

Addisu smiled too for a moment, then grew serious again. "True. But we should still stock up and prepare for the coming ካካማዕበል. Go put the food away, then go for another food run."

Haile nodded, then set to putting away the food in their proper places in the cupboards. First the veggies, then fruits, then meat, then other foods, like the Di Giorno pizza that was only moldy on one tiny part of the crust. When he was halfway through, he heard his dad yell, "የኔ እግዜር!"

Haile came rushing back into the living room. "ምንድን ነው?! What happened?"

Addisu gestured wildly at the TV. "Some guy rushed in and killed super speed ሴት ውሻ!"

Haile whipped his head towards the TV, eager to see if this was true, and it was. The murderer was justifying himself by saying she killed five soldiers with their own weapons. Haile listened for a bit, then shrugged. "He does have a point, I guess."

Addisu shook his head a bit. "That is true. You're still going on that food run, by the way. Don't kill anyone and I guess that እብድ ሰው won't kill you."

Haile grimaced in displeasure. "Alright, fine. I'll be back soon, hopefully. If I'm not back by night, tell the landlady." And with that, he grabbed the scavenged shopping bags, left the apartment, closed the door, locked it, and set off. Broad Way should have some food left. Haile thought. The fast food places throw away what must be half their food every day. Still wrapped, too!

  • ካካማዕበል = shitstorm
  • የኔ እግዜር = my God

A random street... somewhere near Griffith Avenue... Five blocks from town hall

"Go away!" Yecotis shouted and slapped at his wrist. Hitting caused him pain and that made him angrier. "Go away! Go! Away! Go away! AAAGGHGHGHGHGHGHGH" He pounded his right wrist with his left fist and screamed in frustration. Little oddities, like the eye that grew from his wrist, happened rarely over the last two or three days. Four? My god, it's been four days since the quarantine. The little oddities were rare over the past four days, but they always went away after seveal minutes. The eye that sprouted on his wrist had been there for almost an hour now and it was frightening Yecotis. Don't turn me into a monster dear Lady. He hit his wrist one last time and felt that it was smooth now. He looked and saw that the eye had totally vanished without a trace. He saw someone walk into an alley and then someone followed right behind looking shifty. At least, not yet. For there's justice to mete out. Yecotis snuck over to the alley and saw the shifty character pointing a gun at the other fellow. Yecotis unsheathed his knife and felt the blade with his fingertips. He saw blood bead on his fingertips and he smeard the brick wall next to him in his own blood. It struck him funny at the time, but some voice in the darkness whispered yeeeeesss and he couldn't resist. He made a small circle within a triangle and put a dot of blood in the center. He stepped out from the shadows and addressed the would-be mugger.

"You there! Sinner! Prepare for Absolution!" The mugger turned around at this and fired twice blindly. One missed Yecotis by a wide margin, but the other one hits Yecotis square in the chest. Yecotis' expression grows dark and he shouts, "Idiot mortal! You think you could kill me!" He could feel a sting in his chest and saw that it wasn't a bullet, but more like a dart. Yecotis looks back at the two and they stand side by side, watching him sway. "What is this? Drugs!? I can take anyhting from anybody anywhere! I don't need a proper receptacle and then maybe cookies." Yecotis spun around once and collapsed.

An abandoned warehouse... somewhere near Town Hall

Yecotis was tied to a chair with a black bag over his head. The bag was savagely yanked off his head and was subjected to harsh lights set up in front of him. They made a pool of intense light around him, but beyond the edge, everything was darkness. Yecotis heard a voice to his left.

"Awake? Good. Let me introduce myself." A fist struck Yecotis from somewhere out of the darkness. "Now that we know each other's names, we can do bussiness." Yecotis heard footsteps going from his left to his right. "Tell me exactly what the fuck you were thinking when you killed Miss Emily?'' Yecotis shook his head to clear it of the spinning stars and said, "Who? I killed some people yesterday and the day before that. Describe her for me pretty please?" Yecotis smiled as wide as he could and was punched in the face for his effort, blackening his eye. The interrogator spoke into his right ear, "The blonde female you killed on a live newsreport you fucking idiot! You don't even know her name and you just ganked her like that?" Yecotis was punched in the face twice and blood trickled from a split lip. "Do you know how long it took to set this up? To get an agent in the right spot at the right time? And then, when she's trying to help the peons against the jack-boots," the interrogator laughed at this point, "when she was going to help the other idiots, you come in out of nowhere and stab her a hundred times in the face!" The interrogator punched him in the face again and there was another voice in the room.

"Hey man, if you kill him we can't use him." The lights in front of Yecotis were shut off and normal ambient lighting took its place. To his right, Yecotis saw his interrogator. He looked like a "Man In Black" wannabe, dark suit, dark tie, dark shoes, and definitely dark glasses. Yecotis could see himself in them. Further back, leaning against the wall was a man similarly dressed, except he wasn't wearing sunglasses. He looked much more handsome in comparison to the other dark agent. His eyes were a beautiful grey, like that of storm clouds on the horizon. Yecotis couldn't help but study him. The man got off the wall and walked over to Yecotis. "Here," He said politely, "let me introduce myself." He then punched Yecotis hard enough to knock his chair over and Yecotis fell. The other agent put him back upright and starightened his tie.

"Alright, so our organization was going to exploit this disastor and herd the people towards our way of thinking. Miss Emily was going to be leader the people needed in this time of crisis. She was to be the shining hope. Now, we have no hope. That was years and years of prep work down the fucking drain." The agents paced in front of him and started talking to each other. They were in a furious arguement with each other when Yecotis interrupted them. "Well, from what I saw, she was good at killing people. Me, I'm good at killing people. That's got to count for something?" The agents stopped and looked at him. The grey-eyed aagent said, "And what exactly are you proposing? That we let you continue her mission?" Yecotis shrugged and said, "Well, I was just on my way to consume her corpse when I was so rudely interrupted by you handsome gentlemen." The grey-eyed agent thought for a moment and was silent. Then he let out a chuckle. Then, he laughed and guffawed very loudly. "Why not!" He exclaimed, wiping tears from his eyes. "Why not!" The agent snapped his fingers and the black bag was thrown over his his head aagain. Then Yecotis felt the sting of a hyperdermic needle in his neck and he passed out again.

Location unknown

Yecotis felt that he was in a car as he came to. The bag was still over his head, but got yanked off once he stirred. Then the car door was thrown open and he was uncerimoniously shoved out and the car sped away. Yecotis stood up to get his bearings and saw that he was thrown on the steps of a library. He shrugged and went inside. He saw a man standing over some chick on the floor but his his head was pounding now and he needed to sit down. He noticed a secluded table almost empty except for some bookworm with her face hidden. Yecotis took a seat at her table and groaned softly. He could just sit for a moment, couldn't he?

Eastern Library

As Ms Martin recovered somewhat over the past few days from the initial shock and confusion, she had begun to suspect the parasites - which she was currently insisting were not real - were in fact more symbiotic in intent. Thus far they had not attacked her flesh or organs like the delusions of past so often did and she couldn't shake a sort of... connection between herself and these things. Which weren't real, Susie told herself again and muttered something to that effect aloud. Nevertheless, with her eyes closed she still perceived the blonde hair of the taser-wielding man from above as a fractured image, like a fly or insect. She felt beetles marching up her spine and clenched the table to fight off the discomfort, "No, not real. Not-"

Suddenly a disheveled man thoughtless plonked himself at her table, his groan snapping Susie Q's eyes open in terror. Bug-man, one of their agents - they've found you! A voice screamed, others chorusing with it and expounding a million theories and accusations, He knows. And knows you know that he knows who gave you the bugs and... The musician shifted uncomfortably in her sheet, eyes darting from the man to the backpack at her feet - she kept a knife in there, because it was that kind of town. Whether or not she had reason to distrust him, she didn't want a stranger so nearby, "You're on my table. Leave off, if you please." Martin kept her eyes to the books.

Eastern Library, inside

Yecotis heard a meek voice speak to him through the pain. Yecotis looked at who was sitting across from him. Brown hair, sparkly blue eyes and her pale skin hypnotized Yecotis for a moment, but he snapped out of it. He was about to snarl at her when he took a sniff of the air and froze for a moment. He sniffed again. Ozone? But that means... Yecotis thew his chair to the side and stood up. He looked arond for signs of violence and saw the man standing over the woman again. She was on the floor and he held some sort of device. This is perfect Yecotis thought.

"Sinner!" He declared, pointing at the blond-haired man. "Face your judgement sinner! Unless you're afraid of the doom you wreack upon yourself."

The Slums, Broad Way

[1]

Haile rummaged through some dumpsters behind a Mc Donalds, getting a good haul along the way. The fast food places here threw out far too much of their food, so Broad Way was a popular place for scavengers. As he rummaged, Haile reflected on two things, the origins of Broad Way and the absence of the usual crowd. Broad Way was so named because there used to be a very cheap theater where the restaurants were. Unfortunately, when it was discovered that there was a cockroach problem in the kitchen, it was closed down, and subsequently bought out by both Mc Donalds and Burger King, so the locals named the alley behind it Broad Way in memorial.

Speaking of Broad Way, Haile was the only boy one around, giving the normally bustling alleyway an eerie atmosphere. Haile had heard about other neighborhoods in the area getting evacuated... Could that be happening here, too? God, he hoped not. He filled his canvas bag with still-wrapped fast food and prepared to head home.

Turning around to see the person that yelled at him, the man looks at him slightly confused. "I have no idea what wreack means, but I'll have you know I'm not afraid of Doom. Totally one of my favorite video games after all!" Pausing to look upwards, upon noticing the beetle hovering there he looks towards the one that called out again.

"Oh, so you can make bio-forms then? Well, guess I'll leave weather girl for now-" His body breaking away before you, a sudden piercing sensation hits your back as electricity convulses throughout your body. "-since bio-form creation sounds much more immediately useful."

Near Ground Zero

Military troops start pouring out from the two armored vehicles, training their weapons on the bear creature. One of them, a black haired young man, calls out "We will kill you Infected if you do not step away from the vehicle and surrender."

The bear overlooking the various troops, it starts to back away- Only to lunge at one of the soldiers. Proceeding to shoot at it, the bear had killed one of the troops even as oddly bloodless chunks of it went flying. With that kill acquired, it starts to speed off with a few following it while the others required to their vehicles.

The black haired man however proceeds to turn on a radio, and speaks into it "Infected Subject's body appears to be non-vital material, as it is unhindered from our attacks and there is no drops of blood. Subject should be captured, so I am requesting a helicopter team to assist."

Though as the troops prepare to chase it, the bear sniffs the air and its body proceeds to split open- From which a vaguely humanoid entity runs into some of the ruins, eventually working their way around to Martin. Upon doing so, a wildly varying voices calls out "You are one, correct? It can be smelled on you."

The Slums, Broad Way

Coming down the alleyway were two men, who rather quickly spotted Haile. Steadily advancing towards him, the left one calls out "Sir, we're undercover agents of the military. Earlier today our commander ordered a stealthy evacuation initially, and in a few hours a proper evacuation will take place."

The right one stretches his arm out a bit, before speaking in a more serious voice. "We have reason to believe an E.L.D.O.N bioterrorist intends to infect this area, so we'll need you and any friends or family to leave. Anyone left when the proper 'evacuation' takes place will be assumed to be the bioterrorist or working with them."

Inside the library

"Cheap shot!" Yecotis shouted as the electricity swept through him. Everything briefly became rose-tinted and he heard Blastizatchowhitz call to him Dear, Sweet Yecotis they are all worthy of such sweet karma. Yecotis spat at the electric bastard and said, "You deserve justice! Cold steel in your neck! Let me free you from your evil." He jumped up and swung his knife at the jerk, aiming for his face.

''Eastern Library'

The intruding man's sanctimonious outburst made Susie look up from the book pile in profound confusion and, frankly, burgeoning amusement. She scratched an already bleeding and still moving sore in an absent minded fashion, Nope. Not real, it's voices. She tried to convince herself, momentarily distracted from her previous wondering and the parasites now amassing themselves under her vest in response to her duress. The man was a little shorter than her, curly black hair and a slightly androgynous look - most strange, or rather normal was his facial feature. Most delusions had weird proportions - big teeth and eyes. More importantly, the blond man was responding, "Ok, actually happening then." Susie mutter to herself, shuffling to hoist her backpack on a shoulder, "I feel strangely better about my own sanity." She added with a quiet chuckle, the voices about her head disputing this rudely or chorusing approval.

However, though his reference to Doom was oddly endearing (one of her first games ever played as a kid, she mused), the blond one noticed her little insectoid friend and called it a 'bio-form'. "Fuuuu-" The musician began, falling out of her seat and hastily rising to her feet again. She didn't notice that it was the other who was electrocuted, partly because he kept yelling. Suddenly a cloud of locust or beetle like things burst from Susie's back painfully and joined their fellow in the air, "No, no, no, no -" The girl groaned in pain, face blanched with terror as the all too real parasites swirled about the blond one aggressively. "Go away. Go away. Go away, go away, go away, GO AWAY-"

Haile narrowed his eyes. Alright, he thinks, I'll play along. "Sure thing, fellas. Only, I got a problem. My dad's handicapped - no legs, see. He never leaves the apartment, so he sends me out to get food." Haile hefted the canvas bag as an explanatory aid. "What should I do about him? He's too heavy for me to carry for more than a few seconds."

Martin watched in horror as the violence of the situation ensued. Before he could even think to intervene, the beast had killed a man, and was escaping through a hail of gunfire, the bullets seemingly having no effect on him. Martin turned away, his face turned white by the horror of what he'd just witnessed.

So consumed with shock was he, that Martin didn't even notice as the figure neared him. It spoke to him, seemingly in many voices, its tone terrifying and surreal. Something about this strangely ambiguous figure reminded Martin of tales of Native American skinwalkers. Was that what this being was? Was his own skin the next to be stolen. In spite of his fear, Martin answered to the figure, "W-what are you-...? ...Who are you? Why did you attack those people? Y-you killed them; you can't just... Why?"

As the knife went for his face, the knife slices through nothing but air as the man's face splits out of the way. His body breaking down again and reforming to the side, he smugly flicks a bit of his hair before speaking. "Come on, a knife? Though if you must call me evil, then speakest my name of Ornias will ya? Seriously, you're such a-"

His voice stopping as he notices the swarm of insects, Ornias sighs as he puts a hand to his head. "Of course he's just a deranged normal person..." Breaking away and reforming outside the wall of insects, he starts stabbing at them with his tasers as he calls out "Show yourself Bioform Host! Don't you want some answers about your new abilities!?"

While he calls out and stabs the creatures, the girl from earlier gets off from the floor and looks at the scene confused.

The Slums

Lightly glaring at you, the first one speaks up. "Request aid from anyone you can, with whatever you have to. I'm sure they'll help during this difficult time. Though I would suggest reframing from-" Hearing a light growling sound from behind, the man suddenly stops as he pulls out a gun while his companion brings out a radio.

"The Hostile is approaching, it figured out what's going on! Requesting immediate-" A small stinger piercing the radio, the radio and the man's hand suddenly tear up into a swirling mess before splashing onto the ground. Screaming in pain, the other starts shooting behind you and calls out to you "Leave this area immediately! The Infected individual behind you is cannibalistic, and does not discriminate!"

Near Ground Zero

Stepping into better view, the owner of the voice turns out to be a bizarre mish-mash of various ethticities, colors, varying sizes and even a wild combination of the two genders. Narrowing their red and grey eyes at Martin, the individual speaks "They hunt us, and prevent us from learning. Like me, you are here to learn correct? Oh, yes, the what... I used to be bear from the zoo, but now I can change into human at will. Does that satisfy your curiosity? We must hurry to avoid their finding of us."

Military Guarded Morgue

Unzipping the black bag set on the tray, the military doctor looks at the blooded corpse of a blonde woman. Noticing the stab wounds on the throat and face along with her blood stained hair, the doctor starts writing on a notepad.

"The Jane Doe has four stab wounds that's cut all the way through her throat, with another three having pierced her nose and cheeks. Her hair has also be covered in blood, mostly at the back."

As the doctor starts to further unzip the bag, she stops upon noticing the eyes slowly blinking. The doctor about to yell for assistance, the corpse's right fist punches through her mouth. Letting the body drop, the "Jane Doe" removes herself from the bag and starts taking the doctor's clothes. Barely having succeeded in putting on the doctor's lab coat, several troops break into the room with readied guns.

Dancing about the rounds, she speeds past them and quickly manages to escape. Looking off to where the speedster left, one of the troops proceeds to make a call. "The Speedster Infected has resurrected, what should we do?" Listening, the troop hangs up and calls out to the others "We are to retrieve the Speedster so that her resurrection ability can be studied." Nodding in agreement, they begin to prepare to chase her down.

The idea of a bear gaining sentience and transforming into something humanoid was intriguing. It was insane, but still intriguing. And yet, considering the bizarre, mismatched appearance of the figure before him, the explanation kind of made sense to Martin. Surely to something as alien as a bear, all humans must blend together in a way. None the less, this being did just attack and kill people. Could the reason for it really be that it just didn't know any better?

Martin didn't like the idea of going with this 'person'. Being seen with a confirmed murderer was just asking for trouble. But he didn't get the impression the 'bear' was hostile to him either. In the end, curiosity won out. "Alright..." Martin said slowly. "I'll go with you, but in exchange you can't attack or kill anyone else. That's not the right way to do things. That's not how good humans act."

So long as the 'bear' agreed to Martin's terms, he'd go with it.

Yecotis was severely dissapointed when his knife phased through Ornias. Yecotis slouched as the Ornias disappeared and started killing the bugs that started swarming the library. He said I was ordinary. Yecotis thought, grey and droning. Like, I'm one of the assholes. He slid the knife in his pocket and removed something wrapped in linen. It was heavy and metal and mad a slight thud when he set it on the table. He took a seat and carefully unwrapped it. Minutes or seconds later he gasp when he saw it it was so beautiful. A glock pistol, black matte finish. Pretty, but still a gun. He removed a clip of 9mm bullets from his other pocket and loaded the pistol. He held it firmly in his right hand. He could hear Blastizatchowhitz speaking. Dear, Sweet Yecotis... do it. He got behind a bookshelf and took out his knife again. The light reflected from it as he made a small cut on his left arm, drawing blood. He smeared it with his thumb and painted a circle inside a triangle wiht a dot in the middle. When satisfied he leapt out and fired three shots at Ornias, aiming for his chest and stomach.

Eastern Library

Susie felt the taser hit a few unlucky 'insects', sending a sharp pain through her head every time one fell. She used to hate the parasites within her, or at least the ones she thought riddled her body since... since her troubles began. But now they felt part of her and it hurt to see them 'die', albeit temporarily. The shocked creatures reanimated and scurried towards their creator, crawling up her pant legs and rejoining with her body. What the crap is a... a 'bio-form'. The, the bugs? Do I form them? She couldn't think with the needles in her head, voices screaming. The man seemed to appear and disappear, Ms Martin thought she was hallucinating again but he was so fast...

With some concentration the woman made the swarm attack 'Ornias' earnestly, lunging from many angles with biting, stinging touch. Susie Q wanted to know why these things were happening but after seeing what he did to 'weather girl', she just wanted to escape. Not just the library or the man, but the whole stupid quarantine and the military monsters. Speaking of, the other chic had woken up confused - with a fretful expression Q pointed frantically to the door, "Out - get - now!" The words were as jumbled as her thoughts under this stress, but there was no time to sort out the word salad. The swarm suddenly withdrew and clung to her skin like armor, "No, no, no, no, no..." The feeling of their little feet was horrible, but she ignored this and made a sprint for the exit, "Leave me alone!" She new there was little chance of getting to her bike before Ornias caught up. Fucking monster men with their insecticide insectoid peepers... The voices swirled

The Slums, Broad Way

[1]

Haile immediately made a run for it past the probably doomed military agents, awkwardly holding the bag full of food in front of his back as a makeshift shield. The only thought in his head as he ran was Nopenopenopenopenope-. Broad Way wasn't that big an alley, he could see the end just in front of him-!

But just before he exited the alley, he chanced a glance behind him, still sprinting as fast as he could.

Near Ground Zero

Sneering a bit, the patchwork person looks towards Ground Zero. "We are Other, not human. But fine, humans will be spared. Quietly follow, hunters will attack anything notable." With that, the patchwork person starts sniffing the air as the two of them advance.

Ground Zero

Having carefully avoided the patrol, the bear suddenly stops Martin as it sniffs the air. "Hunters are searching site... More than before... Brother, what have you been gifted? Cannot charge ahead..."

Following the bear's line of sight, down in the explosion crater some temporary equipment has been set up with military troops in the area. However, their outfits seem more like tactical gear stylized after the Victorian era than what the others have worn. Though, what really stands out is the hole at the center that seems to lead into a deep basement.

Eastern Library

Limply dangling his arms as Yecotis casually walked away and sat down, Ornias accusingly points with his right hand as he yells "Come on! You can't just ignore me while we're fighting! What is this, a turn-based RPG!? Gah, freaking muggles! Just so apath-"

Suddenly the swarm of insects start biting Ornias, to which he responds by trying to shoo them away and 'teleporting' out of the way. "Hey, if this is about weather girl, I swear she doesn't mean anything to me! You're the only one I want, ~the only one I nee-eed!~ So just come to me, ~and we can go to-gether!~"

That failing to do anything, Ornias' eyes suddenly start looking out the outburst, eased as the swarm suddenly starts flying towards a woman. Smiling at finding the Host, Ornias gets already to teleport after her- Only to have three bullets shoot through his body. Looking down at the holes, he touches one with his fingers as if shocked. Looking towards the muggle again, Ornias signs at seeing he has a gun now.

"That, normie, is pathetic and cheating. But, Hosts are much greater cheaters due to a neat little fact called..." His body deforming again and reforming with the wounds repaired, Ornias winces as he pants a bit. "Development! We grow stronger over time, and that completely hurts! Gah, I would kill you with my taser knives right now if I didn't need to figure out this patch up ability right now! Count yourself-"

Suddenly getting launched into a book shelve by a blast of wind, Ornias groans as he gets back up. The weather girl, however, looks at Yecotis with determined eyes and calls out rather calmly "We should probably go now sir, before the military decides to abduct us. Penny by the way!" With that, the sound of sirens can finally be heard in the distance and most of the library has gotten empty since the fight started.

The Slums

Looking back, what is seen are the two agents headless corpses being consumed by some vaguely human entity, which turns its bloodied and gory face towards you. Glaring with icy white eyes, with its splitting apart lips showing a smile full of pointed teeth, it lightly chuckles at you before calling out.

"I have your scent, and you'll be next my little 'albino', heheheheh..."

"Not without that sinners head!" Yecotis glowered at weather girl. Yecots couldn't believe that is knife, Prayer, couldn't harmt he guy. Then it dawned on him. The same thing happened when I shot him and now when the weather whatever knocked him down...nice...

"I'll show you cheating!" Yecotis multiplied his shadows and made them grow large and out of proportion. He made them appear on all surfaces, regardless of how the lights was shining on them. He made them look fearsome and monstours. Once he spread out a legion of terrifying shadow-things across the floor, walls, cieling, and tables, Yecotis made them all do random dances. It was disorienting to look at. Slowly, he pocketed the gun and drew out his knife. "This is judgement, worm. This is a Prayer for the Lost, song of the Damned!" Yecotis screamed as he charged again at the in-and-out guy, slashing with his knife wicked fast once he got close. He was relentless in his bloody pursuit. Let's see him deny me now.

"You mean my... 'power'?" Martin asked. "Uh. It's not something you'd find very impressive, I'm sure... I-I can create light... I don't think it's quite a normal light really. It seems to induce a sort of, calm, and serenity. ...But people don't have to be mad to shoot at you. I don't see it being very helpful here. Using it would just give us away."

Martin scrutinized the area more thoroughly. "More to the point, what the heck are we doing here? I thought we were trying to get away from the... hunters. There's only going to be more this way. Why is it so important to go here anyway?"

Eastern Library

Susie had made it half way to the exit when three air shattering shots rang out across the library, causing her to stumble. She grabbed a nearby wall for support and looked over her shoulder with almost as much concern as when that teleporting douche started singing bad Janet Jackson songs - she would have preferred to be tased. "Jesus-fuck!" Unfortunately, Ornias was still talking. Either the shooter was no marksman or he missed the creep's lungs, Screw this town! Leave them dead! A voice cried, Q trying to ignore it a hear what they were saying about 'hosts' and 'development', all the while knowing she should be on her bike by now.

The gust of wind came from the room, her insects knocked off before surrounding her protectively again - She didn't remember any open windows, maybe 'weather girl' was living up to her name. "Or I'm going psycho bonkers, crepes! Out, out, out..." She shook herself, resuming her dash for the exit and hastily removing the helmet from her bag. Susie heard sirens in the distance and panic made her feel like the parasites were crawling down her throat and eating her heart - serving it up to the bug-men, silver platter... Shaking her head to manually clear the thoughts, the girl mounted her vehicle and churned the engine to life.

She paused a moment, looking to the door to see if anyone else was coming - scared as she was, she didn't want to leave people to be got by the fuzz. "1 minute, tops - no more." Q decided, getting her bike in position to take off the moment those sirens got too close.

The Slums, Broad Way

[1]

Haile's eyes widened, and he ran faster than he ever thought possible, even as part of him went "Albino?! Do I look pale to you, ya stupid cannibal?"

Haile didn't stop running until he got to his apartment, hurriedly unlocking the door, then practically throwing himself inside, locking the door quickly as possible, then moving away from the door and catching his breath, while also tossing the bag of fast food on the table.

[2]

Naturally, the commotion he made attracted the attention of Haile's dad, Addisu, who wheeled into the room, looking concerned. "Haile, what happened? Why are you in such a rush?... And why are you looking at the door like it's going to try and kill you?"

Haile looked at his dad, occasionally glancing back at the door, and told him everything. "I'm so sorry, Dad, I don't know what I'm going to do and he knows where to find me and now I'm here and he might kill you-"

"HAILE."

[3]

Haile jumped a bit. "Y-yeah, Dad?"

Addisu took hold of one of Haile's hands in his own. "I love you. And I will always love you, no matter what happens. But... For your own safety, I think you should leave, at least until that ሬብ is dead or locked up."

Haile looked indecisive. "But what about you? How are you going to take care of yourself? And what if it comes here and attack you?"

Addisu grinned. "Are you kidding? You brought back enough food to last me months. And if it comes here, I'm going to give it a beating so bad it won't be able to sit down for weeks, much less attack anyone. Now stay there a second while I go get something." And with that, he wheeled into Haile's bedroom. A few moments later, he was back again, this time holding a small wooden box. Addisu held it gingerly, and as he got closer, Haile saw that it was very old.

As Addisu fiddled with the lock, he spoke to Haile. "I have been saving this for God knows how long, just in case something happens. And Since something has sure as hell happened now..." Click! went the lock. "I figured you should have this." And Addisu pulled out a huge wad of money and handed it to Haile.

It was mostly $5 and $1 bills, but it still added up to a couple hundred dollars, which was more money than Haile had ever seen in one place. "How did you get that much?!"

Addisu smiled mischievously. "Oh, I did some odd jobs. Y'know... Here and there."

Haile smiled and shook his head a bit, still feeling a bit emotional. "Thanks, Dad. I promise that that ጀላ will be either in the ground or in a cell as soon as I can manage it."

Addisu grinned. "That's my boy."

Haile knelt down and gave his dad a hug. "I promise I'll be back soon."

Addisu began to get a bit teary-eyed. "ቃለ መሐላ?"

Haile let go and stood back up. "ቃለ መሐላ." And with that, he turned, grabbed his key, stuffed his newfound cash into his pocket, unlocked the door, and turned to look at his dad one last time, and saw him wheeling into his bedroom, presumably to put the box back. "Dad!" He called out.

Addisu turned to look at him. "Yes, Haile?"

Haile smiled, even though he couldn't see for tears. "I love you."

Addisu grinned at him. "I love you too, Haile."

And Haile shut the door, locked it, and set off for the more affluent parts of the city, with a smile on his face and his father's parting words in his heart.

Eastern Library, Inside

Looking at Yecotis with a questioning look, Penny proceeds to sprint towards the exit calling back "Yep, not gonna stay here!" Penny now gone from the area, Ornias chuckles a bit. "Seriously, what are you? Some kind of religious vigilante nut? I'm pretty sure God doesn't-"

Stopping himself upon seeing Yecotis' shadow puppetry, Ornias flat out laughs a bit. "Oh man, you really are one of us. Shit man, you should of just said so. Come on, I can introduce you to the gang and-" Silencing himself as he heard Yecotis begin to speak, Ornias' eyes end up drifting to the once again brandished knife. Shifting his body, Ornias endures the onslaught of blows by parting himself out of the way.

"Seriously, knife isn't going to work. Too small an object my bloodlusting friend. Though..." Proceeding to shift away from Yecotis backwards, Ornias zigzags towards a window as he calls out "I must be making my leave! Not to fond of the police if you know what I mean. My group would love to meet you however!" With that Yecotis ends up on the other side of the window he aimed for, while the sirens in the background have gotten considerably larger.

Ground Zero

Looking at you, the patchwork person growls in thought. Their bearskin suddenly reforming around their right hand, the bear speaks up. "Our scent originates from there, answers most likely. If Hunters don't want us to know, its important enough for them to hide. Though I have noticed something about us Others. Tell me, how endangered have you been? Danger makes us grow."

Eastern Library, Outside

Rushing out from the exit is the weather girl, whose eyes end up resting on Susie. Heading towards Susie, the girl calls out "Hey! Can you get me out of here!? Don't have a ride and I really don't want to stick around!"

While she speaks, a sleek black car not far away from Susie pulls out and starts heading around back as the sirens pick up. Quickly approaching the Library are in fact seven police cars and an armored military vehicle.

The Slums

Several dressed individuals stand before a bloodied alleyway, with some of them checking the area with the remaining two overlooking it. "Commander, the Hostile codenamed Wendigo isn't known for leaving blood traces behind right? I read reports it consumes the victims completely to convert all their mass into power. So this must be-"

The Commander interrupting the lab-coated young woman, the older woman glares and scrutinizes the area as she speaks in a no-nonsense tone. "The Wendigo has ignored fully consuming two times before. Each has been because it caught the scent of another Infected individual, and each time it displayed a new major ability in the next confrontation. Now, what was the name of the Suspected Infected?"

Pulling out her PDA and scrolling through a file of Suspected Infected, she stops at the title of 'Rogue Fighter'. "His name is Haile Selassie Addisu, lives alone with his disabled father and appears to be African-American. His Infection was caught on hospital footage, manifesting as some kind of dark green light. Primary speculation is that he possesses some form of super strength."

Taking her subordinate's PDA and looking over the file herself, the Commander hands it back before speaking. "Inform the rest it's time to go. This area will be promptly evacuated and bombed before the day's end."

"The Omniverse is the collection of all possibilities, and all possibilities must eventually come to pass."
