Great book. Scary, disturbing, intelligent, and touches on a lot of issues without ever choosing a side. It's basically about a future where parents are allowed to abort their children... AFTER THEY'RE BORN. But it doesn't pick a side. It's critical of the pro-choice AND pro-life views, and it shows how ridiculous the whole battle is anyway when there are children who are ALREADY BORN that we're not helping. But politics and religion aside, the story is enthralling, the writing is hilarious, tragic, vivid, and witty often at the same time, and the character arcs are THE BEST. So I was just wondering who else has read. because I need to talk to some other Whollies/AWOL's out there.

I love it too! Favorite character? Mine's Connor. And Miracolina, in the second book.

Read the first book for a class last year. It was surprisingly good for another young adult dystopian novel, but it was much more original and disturbing than its contemporaries. My only real complaint is how it still falls into the revolution plotline of those types of books, though it feels different enough to be okay. Didn't bother to read the others because I don't think it didn't interest me that much (mainly because I know its heading further into the revolution stuff I've seen a hundred times before)

Well, most YA dystopias fall into the violent revolution plotline. Unwind's revolution plot is a lot more like the Civil Rights or women's movement. they're not trying to overthrow a regime as much as they are trying to gain representation and rights.

Read it. And disconcerting indeed. I'd probably have been unwound in that universe and I gave my parents nightmares with that premise of them signing a paper to get rid of me.

I'm writing a crossover with that and another series, but the part where unwinding plays a major part will not appear until the sequels.

I read the first one, but didn't bother with the others as I felt it worked best as a standalone book.

The Protomen enhanced my life.
