Apple v Epic: documents from Microsoft from August 2020 shows they expected Nintendo to have Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3, Shin Megami Tensei V, and Metroid Prime 4 out during the holiday.

...but by then Shin Megami Tensei V had already been dated for 2021...

That was before the Pandemic happened.

SMTV had just gotten a 2021 release date mid July 2020.

If the document was made before that date, it is somewhat understandable someone could think it was.

Wow. 2, 3, 4, and 5 huh? I'll see it when I see it.

We'll have to wait until E3 for confirmation.

Just a clarification: Microsoft thought the games were coming out last year.

I'm surprised they listed Metroid Prime 4. It's entirely possible they know something we don't and the game is almost done, but I don't think anyone expects MP4 will be out before 2022.

Hasn't it been a good while since we heard it was changing studios? As long as there haven't been any more delays after that (and we know there has been at least one: COVID) it does make sense that they'd be close to finishing it by then.

Every once in a while job listings will pop up from Retro, and as late as August last year they were still looking for a project lead.

I don't know how normal all that is, but point is with things like that I'm not surprised they had nothing to say on it in 2020. Hell, I'd be surprised if it came out in 2022 let alone this year.

Okay, so there have been more delays. I haven't really been following its development beyond the big announcements.

It's nice to know that somebody was optimistic about Zelda.

I don't want to sound too pessimistic (I really don't want to, because I already witnessed several depressing RL news today), but if they are still hiring people for the development, I can't help but be worried about the state of the game's progress.

• Total console sales are at 84.59 million.
• Software sales are at 587.12 million.
• 28.83 millions units of hardware and 230.9 million units of software sold in the past fiscal year.

The Switch has already beaten the 3DS and appears to be on track to beat the Wii.

Also, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has reached 35,39 million units sold. It is only two millions away from surpassing Mario Kart Wii as the best-selling racing game of all time.

The Mario Kart series deserves so much respect, yet its popularity is taken for granted...

Based on what I'm hearing, this past fiscal year, Nintendo has broken the record for the highest operating profits of any gaming company, which was previously held by Nintendo in its FY 2008 (ending March 2009) at the height of the Wii/DS.

Double post: One the earnings report under Director Change: CEO of Illumination Entertainment Chris Meledandri has been nominated into becoming an Outside Director for Nintendo.

If they are bringing in Illumination's CEO, then they have heavyconfidence in the Mario movie.

What's an Outside Director?

Also please don't have Illumination be more involved than they already are. I thought Nintendo had some artistic integrity.

Outside directors are company board members who are not legally employees or stakeholders in the company.

As far as Meledandri's appointment is concerned, this is a major development in Nintendo's efforts to delve into film/TV production. While I doubt they'll license everything to Universal/Illumination, I can see Meledandri having a say in future Nintendo media productions going forward (think, executive producer).

Also, the hybrid nature of the Switch will continue with its successor.

Makes sense. Japan and the West have different markets for home consoles vs. handhelds. The Switch is one device that fits well enough in both markets to be (extremely) successful.

If the Super Switch Is 4k docked, then the true successor having 4K native on the Go and 8K docked would be insane.

That thing would need crazy cooling for that.
