Shit! I still need to fix the hinge on my 3DS! I just haven't had the money (or the ability to leave the house due to COVID)!
SHIT SHIT SHIT!!!!
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
My housemate is one. She loves Pokémon and Animal Crossing, and, after I introduced her to it, Xenoblade Chronicles 2. She doesn't like Smash, though, and she hated Pyra and Mythra's recent trailer in particular because it got her hopes up about the possibility of more XC2 content.
She played Torna back around when it came out, and she reports that it broke her heart. She has XCDE, but it doesn't seem to have quite grabbed her.

Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805[eyes wither with no tears left to shed in XCX fan]
Maybe stupid question, but has she played Torna or given XC 1 a shot with Definitive Edition? If anything is gonna scratch the itch for now it'll be that (and 1 will likely raise enjoyment of XC 2 after the fact:P)
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyThe reason is quite simple: I'm not good at multiplayer games. I like single player experiences. Yes I know it technically it has a single player mode, but you're not really buying smash for the single player mode. But on the off hand chance that someone is, I'm also not really into fighting games.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midI've slowly gotten more and more disinterested in Smash myself with each entry, only playing Ultimate as long as I did for the World of Light mode. I pretty much dropped both 4's after unlocking every character and going through classic mode and All-Stars with them. But I wasn't really counting on XC2 getting more content since it's been years since its most recent bit of new content.
One can dream for a revamp of the story, new blades, and various tweaks and fixes...

It's just uncommon
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I like Torna more than Xenoblade 2, mostly because Mythra is way better there and Rex barely shows up

Probably because a lot of people who I know are big Nintendo fans also tend to be big Smash fans.
Probably helps that just about a lot of gaming fandoms do have people who are also Smash Bros. fans due to the crossover aspect. So it is rarer for me to find a person online who isn't into Smash.
Usually the people who I know in real life who aren't Smash fans are typically either casual gamers or people who don't play a lot of games like my mom (who is mostly into Animal Crossing and Mario Kart/Party) or a co-worker of mine.

I am admittedly a little weird here. I do get tired of Smash at varying points (usually because I end up playing it too much and just need a break) but I'm not really uninterested in it ever.
@jjj: I'm also not much of a multiplayer person but I do enjoy fighting games quite a lot. Though admittedly I'm specifically not into online gaming, more into couch gaming.

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!I almost played Smash once a day every day when it was released. It was put aside recently at times as I started playing Bot W. But I never get tired of Smash.
-Witty line-I play it with my brother and two of my cousins whenever we're hanging out in my house. Sadly, one of my cousins (the one I have been playing lots of video games with since 2001) will move to Chile in March, so that part of my life will reach a closure soon.
135 -> 180 -> 273 -> 191 -> 188 -> 230 -> 300 -> 311Also one of them, my excuse is that Smash 3DS/Wii U was the only fighting game I ever played and I wasn't totally into it. I'm also intimidated by the bad side of the fandom or even the more serious players. I'm more of a Pokemon player or any super casual Nintendo game, and on another note, I really haven't been in the mood for any serious singleplayer adventure for a while, and don't get me started on my Puyo Puyo brainrot.

Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*
I had that issue early on with Ultimate. At least in regards to the bad side of the fandom. I don't remember having issues with the fanbase during Brawl (though admittedly I wasn't really on a lot of forums back then) or 4. Ultimate is where I just start encountering some more toxic or overly negative Smash fans. The friend I've mentioned in the Smash thread, who is a person who exclusively wants the popularly requested characters, has been an example for me. Where he is exclusively a competitive rules person whereas I'm more flexible with how I play (though it's usually no items but I refuse to keep playing on Final Destination or Omega forms). The issue arises when my friend gets frustrated that we're not playing his preferred way. My friends are kinda way I tend to get tired of playing Ultimate every once in a while.
Despite the much shorter publically known development time, the Smash fanbase had some unbelievably impatient fans while waiting for Ultimate. Apparently having it come out the same year as announced was legit unacceptable to some. Then there was the reaction to the earthquake pushing the Direct (although that also included people from the general Nintendo fanbase) and that whole embarrassing mess with the Grinch hoax.
Not to mention how character gatekeeping has gotten so much worse this cycle with speculation where some people are more invested in hoping characters are rejected just to enjoy people's disappointment. Smash has had image issues for years, maybe even during Melee, but it feels far more petty and bitter this time.
-Witty line-It probably doesn't help that certain people from the toxic side has embraced that image, mostly because they stick better that way with their over-specified views on the series and how it "should" be played. I stopped watching and following videos from a certain player from Sweden for this reason.
This reminds me, once all 11 character packs are released, it is likely that we won't hear anything from Smash anytime soon, both because the latest game will be very difficult to be outdone, and because fans will probably need an extended period of time moving on from character speculation.
In the meantime, it will then be the perfect time for Mario Kart 9 to be announced.
135 -> 180 -> 273 -> 191 -> 188 -> 230 -> 300 -> 311

We already know almost her entire moveset anyway.
