I think Knew It All Along can keep its name because it sounds like a name we'd give it.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? How many pages from this cleanup are there still to process?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAbout three dozen. Discussion has stalled somewhat.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Tomorrow, I'll be looking at Kissgusting to see if there's any examples that can be salvaged. If not, we can cut that one. It's a bad sign if all the examples are one-shot occurances.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThree dozen?! Cut cut cut.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Okay, tried to find something salvageable in Kissgusting. Not finding it.
If no one has any objections, we can go ahead and cut this one.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportJust mercy kill it.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Yeah, cut it.
(Annoyed grunt)Okay, will remove any wicks and send it to the cutlist.
And cutlisted. There's a handful of inbounds, though...

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportNot worth it. Do you have any comments on some of the other tropes that have been reviewed?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Wait, how was kiss gusting people sitting on chairs?
I loathe to use WWE as an example but on the second season of NXT, Laycool brought out a woman called Margarita, whom the rookies had to kiss to see who would get points in the competition(it was a stupid show). Some of the rookies were off put by her from the get go, some were so hyped up for this "competition" they practically threw themselves into her arms and kissed her with great zeal but they all had pained and sickened reactions on their faces after kissing her regardless of how eager they had been before hand.
That is a trope and it was telling us two very important things, the first being that Laycool are assholes, the second is that something is very wrong with this Margarita woman, the latter of which was confirmed when Kaval took an equally unwanted kiss from Layla and didn't have a pained or sickened reaction, rather one of surprise and embarrassment.
Similarly, part of Greg Excellent's gimmick in the much more watchable but still not my favorite CZW is that he can attract any woman to himself involuntarily and he is helplessly drawn to them himself when this happens, be it women he kind of likes(Mia Yim) or despises(Cherry Bomb). However, the only thing to disgust him was Pepper Parks(Bomb's husband).
So no, it's not people sitting on chairs, that would require every unwanted kiss ever to result in disgust, but that clearly isn't the case. But the common Take That! kiss from the baby face who Wouldn't Hit a Girl doesn't always get it, nor did the Get A Hold Of Yourself Man example.
As for Belly Flop Crushing, that one actually got five hats from You Know That Thing Where. Of all the tags, only "already have" wasn't addressed, so that's about the only way I can see a justified cut.
That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastesKissgusting said it was about "kiss+disgusting reaction".
- kiss tastes terrible == trope
- kids treat physical intimacy (like kissing) as icky == trope
- people are upset when forced to use their first kiss against their will == trope.
Edit: Belly Flop Crushing — trope examples tend towards Zero Context Example format, not sure what can be done about that...

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Kissgusting was kiss leads to disgusted reaction. That is a trope.
I mean, there was a Star Trek movie where Rycer kissed his lover and she said "ew" because of his beard, which he apparently never had when they had kissed beforehand. That, along with the NXT example I gave, shows it can come even when it is wanted, or not wanted and I've already given two examples where unwanted kisses didn't result in disgusted reactions. This is an occurrence that is not universal nor is it particularly expected, it always servers a purpose, it is not aerobic respiration and it is not sitting on a chair. Kissing with lips or kissing with tongue, maybe those would be. No, this is akin to gagging because of something unpleasant in the air or finding the chair you're sitting in is unpleasant in someway, these are the things stories can be made of or enhanced by.
That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastesYou're not demonstrating comprehension. Is "two people kissed and liked it" a trope?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. No, but kisses are supposed to be intimate acts, and two people waiting longer than they wanted getting a pleasurable kiss, that is a page here.
I mean, think about kisses. I've had some I didn't really want but never one I would call disgusting. And I've touched tongues with some weird people without consent. Underwhelmed, confused, saddened, scared, I've been there but I imagine it would take a special kind of something to be disgusted by a kiss...unless it's kids playing the cootie game. I agree that could be a separate page but the adult version seems to be a common comedy spot, from what I gathered from the MsChif (was part of a cult that loved hatred and hated love), Mercedes Martinez (disgusted by a certain man) and Greg Excellent(reminding us he and Parks were heterosexuals) examples. A comedy tropes exoticos like Sakai in the first case and Gorgeous George types seem to rely pretty heavily on.

That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastesThe idea of the trope is all well and good. The problem is that the actual page was an unmitigated disaster. I would 100% support you if you wanted to put a fixed version through YKTTW.
I think I might have something in there already, haven't checked on it since heard there was a crash but that is something I should do, feel there were a lot of examples that got axed that I spent too much time adding or confirming.
As for Belly Flop Crushing, from the page itself, the only example I don't get is the Hippo dance in the western animation section, and by don't get I mean I don't understand exactly what happened. Given the very title of the trope page I know it involves someone getting crushed and since there is a dance I assume it means there was a misstep. I guess I could check the wicks to see if there are more iffy examples but the page itself seems robust.
That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastesI've added context to the Fantasia example. See if it makes more sense now.
Bigotry in the name of inclusion is still bigotry.Yes, just telling how it happened was good.
That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastesTo clarify the disaster mentioned in #317, "two people enjoyed a kiss" was one of the original examples on Kissgusting. The examples didn't support the definition.
On top of that, The Big Damn Kiss is not "people wait a long time before they can kiss". If you find examples of that, please remove the misuse. The trope is "a kiss that is the climax of a relationship". That is a narrative convention.
The description of "people wait a long time before kissing" and "people do a belly flop on other characters" are things that happen in a work, not a pattern of storytelling.

Is there stll interest in this?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI don't want to be unilateral in my decision-making, although I don't mind the grunt work.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.If it's anything, I'd be up for de-wicking the tropes planned to be cut. Should I start with Busy Beaver?
- Knew It All Along: The examples are a trope of something. There's only a few that veer off into misuse from the same core idea "character has incorrect conclusion, but proclaims their inaccuracy was an act". The problems are No New Stock Phrases and a weak description. Name might be deemed an acceptable exception, but I'm unsure.
- Kissgusting: Just a list of characters kissing and reacting. Description does not match usage. Cut
- Gone Behind the Bend: There is a trope here, but it needs YKTTW to flesh it out.
- Gluttony Montage: Most of the examples are ZCE. There could be a subtrope to Montage here, but if we don't cut, it needs YKTTW.
