Quattro has always been my favorite of the Arclight brothers and this duel was way better than his earlier duel with Shark. He made a great accounting of himself in both dueling skill and character. I was a bit sketchy at Quattro of all people trying to say he wanted to save Shark but when he saw what happened to the others, and resolved just to destroy him, that hit home really well.

There's been so many great duels and episodes lately. I got 14 more episodes to go.

As for Bronk...I did admire his determination to try and save Rio. He's always been kinda the Tristan of the show but I like him more than Tristan.

Shark used to be the Joey but he's long since eclipsed that role however. He's probably the best character iN ZEXAL in my opinion.

It's partially Bronk's determination, and partially that he has repeatedly stood up against things that generally take main characters or high-level duelists to fight. First up we have Dark Mist's intro episode, wherein he sees the most blatantly supernatural thing the series has had yet, and a pretty disturbing one to get suddenly dropped on you, and his first reaction is to no-hesitation challenge it to a duel for Yuma. Doesn't hurt that I think he's the only person not Astral or Yuma to legit summon Utopia, either. THEN, when they're traveling on the D.D. Airship for the first time, when the Duel Spirits attack them, he's the only normal duelist to go out and fight. Yuma, Shark, and Kite are all protagonists, and Rio is both plot-important and has supernatural powers. Compared to that, Bronk is just a guy and he still goes to fight the Spirits off, no hesitation. THEN, when we get to the Barian Invasion, he goes off to fight Rio, knowing full well that he's going to lose and probably die, but also knowing that he wouldn't be able to forgive himself if he didn't try. And that counts for a LOT.

...yeah, that's why I like him. Because he consistently stands up and does things that are conventionally out of his weight class (not a comment on his body size. At least not an intentional one).

Also i forgot to ask, was the "Point System" Vector talked about during his duel with Dumon and Rio in the original? You know how he basically explained his reasoning for betraying Nasch as "every time he did something that annoyed me, he got one point. I decided I'd betray him after a million points. Who'd have thought he would have 2 million points by the next day?"

Even if that isn't in teh original, I love it. Vector is a true rival to Yami Marik in just how frickin' nuts he is.

And did Alito just do Naruto Ninja Handsigns during his duel with Girag while using his Raccoon Number?

No, yeah the points thing was in the original too. Yet another example of why Vector is a dick of the highest caliber, and all the better for it.

I currently I have in my head scene for live action fan film in which the protagonist is forced to duel inside of an abandoned warehouse.

There are no duel disks, just a large table. As the duelists lose life points, they begin to display dizziness, shivering, and shortness of breath. Yes it is a Shadow Game.

When the enemy duelist is defeated, the camera focuses on the protagonist's head as he closes his eyes and shields his face as awful hellish noises are heard off screen.

When the protagonist opens his eyes, we see that the enemy duelist has vanished without a trace.

It is much more dramatic in my opinion. Shame that I'm not a small time director or film school student.

So perhaps it's one of the baser pleasures but watching numbers go up in Yu-Gi-Oh has always been a big thing for me. I'll never forget the first time I watched GX and Zane got his Cyber End Dragon to 16,000 Attack Points.

A guy elsewhere told me that I would just love the end of ZEXAL and he wasn't kidding.

10.000 Attack Points innately? Wow.

100.000 ATTACK POINTS? WOW.

NOW UTOPIA HAS 102.000 ATTACK POINTS???? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

But now Don Thousand has 102.000 Life Points!!!!!

But now YUMA AND SHARK HAVE 204.000 ATTACK POINTS!!!!!!

It was at this point I was just having a seizure with delight.

You must've really liked the Pyramid of Light scenes and the DOMA scenes with infinite attack points!

The Protomen enhanced my life.

I'm also a fan of really big attack point monsters being used as finishers.

[up][up] I actually have never seen Pyramid of Light outside of the abridged version.

Still, "Infinity" is kinda impossible to grasp. I dunno, I guess while it's bigger itjust doesn't have the same feeling as seeing that 100.000.

And I have finished ZEXAL. Shark is the best character.

And that ending was really, really sweet. Maybe sappy, maybe cheesy, but still very touching and I loved it a lot. The dub used the original opening theme which was also a great touch.

Speaking of the movie, I have found the Japanese version of the movie here.

From what I get, it seems like Anubis is a Well-Intentioned Extremist in this version as he states that his goal is something along the lines of eliminating the King of Darkness (Dark Yugi) by using the King of Light (Kaiba) so that Anubis will be awakened and destroy the darkness of the world and replace it with light. Who knew he was like that?

Wow, that is much better than what the dub gave him.

I know that there was a Japan-only novelization of the movie that gave more detail on him, including a full backstory. Apparently in life he was a colleague of Akhenaden in his scheme to make his son, Seto, Pharaoh at Atem's expense. They made the Pyramid of Light as an "artificial" Millennium Item for Seto to use, but Anubis double-crossed Akenaden and took it for himself. He went drunk on its power and began thinking he was really that Anubis, before Atem defeated him.

The Dagger of Fate doesn't even exist in the Japanese version. The dagger that Yugi finds in the sarcophagus is just a random dagger that happened to be there.

Could you guys point me towards episodes that show duels with some "house rules" additions.

Like that ZEXAL episode with the basket rule.

Just watched Crowler vs. Camula.

For a guy who's basically Snape minus the dignity, Crowler's kind of a badass, no?

Krika Since: Dec, 2010

Crowler, for all he's overshadowed by protagonists, used as a chew toy to show off villains, and generally played for laughs, has a lot of depth to him, and yeah is kinda a badass. And for however much he dislikes Jaden, Jaden is one of his students, and he has very strong feelings about protecting his students. And when he duels, it's pretty much either his ass is kicked because they need someone to Worf a duel or a funny thing, or he's incredibly badass.

[up] Based on the Wikia, his Duel record's actually not all that bad. He's about where you'd expect a less-than-main-character-but-above-bit-character character to be. He's certainly no worse than, say, the ZEXAL characters who Worfed to the Barians, or the opposing teams in the WRGP, and may be slightly better.

Done with the Shadow Riders arc now. I must say I like Kagemaru's style; it's not every villain that can set up a completely fake "protect the MacGuffin" quest to force the heroes to do his bidding. His deck reminded me a lot of Marik's; not all that skilled, but so full of hax it hardly needs to be.

Also forgot how good Alexis was. A female duelist actually living up to the hype? Both surprising and welcome!

Unfortunately that only applies in Season 1.

Yeah, that would be right around he time her Cybergirl cards stopped making any real money, so Asuka didn't win against anything that wasn't a Joke Character.

Doesn't she do pretty well with her Society of Light deck?

Pulled up her record on the Wiki. It says she duels four times in season 2, two wins and two losses. That's not terrible.
