I got The Last Zombie in one of the Humble Bundles. It's good. Basic idea behind it was that there was a standard virus-driven zombie apocalypse, much of the United States overrun, massive death toll, etc, etc. The comic is set two years after the last known zombie has died. At a FEMA station in the west, they lose contact with their station in the east, in West Virginia. They set off in a cross-country trip, including the biologist who's been developing a vaccine for the last two years, just in case. Long story short, it's not an easy trip, and before the end, they have to deal with the eponymous Last Zombie.

As with most zombie stories that cover the apocalypse in more than glancing detail, it's bleak at times. The people who didn't die due to the zombies are dying due to a lack of resources. The collapse of the government means that violent criminals often run wild, at least one nuclear reactor melted down, and wildfires are spreading through largely deserted towns.
