Wes Anderson's Suicide Squad in the vein of this
SNL sketch.

An anthology based approach would be great considering how malleable the Squad concept is.
Each movie would be a standalone cast featuring different members each time and any breakout stars could get a spin-off.
Would love to see like say a Secret Six adaptation with King Shark, Bloodsport, and Ratcatcher II.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The thing about the Squad moving forward is that I feel like it'll be increasingly difficult to maintain the Anyone Can Die attitude organically without falling into a formula.
Like, I think TSS did the right thing by making Boomerang a Sacrificial Lion; he's one of few returning characters, he was genuinely liked, and killing him early on made it clear anyone (... but Harley) could die.
That said, I would imagine it would be impossibly tempting to just repeat that formula.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I can see what you mean. If a hypothetical sequel kills off one of the popular members of the surviving Squad it won't feel as shocking given this one already pulled that trick. Same if they try creating a Cannon Fodder squad to kill of completely.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Back from the theater. Random observations:
- Everyone and their mom probably pointed it out already but… Why is Deadshot called Bloodsport this time around?
- The US government being perfectly fine with a brutal dictatorship until it becomes a thorn in their side and they suddenly remember they support democracy… Yeah, that sounds about right.
- Although, considering Waller also tells
the SSthe Suicide Squad to slaughter freedom fighters, I doubt Corto Maltese’s new democratic government will be in Washington’s good graces either. - I like Polka’s character, but I wish they did something more creative with his powers than "glorified laser beams".
- Harley seems to become more "super" with each movie. I can live with that.
- How many rats are there in this goddamn city? I suppose it’s pretty poor and dirty but come on.
- King Shark is so… jarring. He’s funny and all, but he seems to come straight out of a cartoon.
- Really liked Ratcatcher and Sebastian. They had the best balance between funny and genuinely emotional out of all the characters I think.
- Not everyone in mission control is as batshit insane as Waller, which is… reassuring? I guess?
All in all, I’d say this was, well, the first movie but done right. More or less. The tone can still be very jarring at times − like that rebel leader. Look, girl, your comrades have just been massacred by a team of unhinged Americans, can’t you at least… protest or cry or react like a human being? At least not trust them immediately? But at least this movie doesn’t forget to remind us that the Squad members aren’t supposed to be nice people.
So yea, this was the best Marvel movie I’ve seen in a while.
…Wait. >.>
Bloodsport is a different guy in the comics. A guy that can basically make any kind of gun he can think of and messes with Superman. And the reason he is used instead of Deadshot is that, well, they kind of leave the door open if they ever have a chance of working with Will Smith again.
Wake me up at your own risk.Well technically his power is that he has a warehouse full of guns and has the ability to instantly teleport them to his arms. The movie gives him the different power of nano-tech guns that achieves the same effect.

Yeah King Shark feeling like a total cartoon character is great. Really sells the setting as a casually super, something thats been really lacking in superhero movies.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Considering that The Suicide Squad bombed at the box office, I doubt that WB will greenlight a sequel but they would continue the story of the Corto Maltese Squad through spin-offs (i.e. Peacemaker and other tie-in material).
I was thinking dwindling party for a Suicide Squad movie. Lean into horror.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersGood way to escalate from decoy squad getting wiped.
Truly go all in on everyone at risk of dying and don't get attached by actually leaving at most a sole survivor.

As said the movie is acclaimed and not a punching bag like the first one so that helps.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."@Chrononaut 70 So long as the COVID-19 pandemic rages wild across certain states and territories, the box office is no longer a reliable indication of success. Especially with a resurgence in the Delta variant.
This is the reality that a lot of box office analysts seem to refuse to accept.

I would actually be pretty on-board for the Suicide Squad as a anthology of different directors. A while back there was the rumour of Guy Ritchie doing a Suicide Squad film, and his filmography has always been noted for cartoonish, colorful criminals. He'd fit right in.
Imagine the Squad being introduced in this vein:
