The magic weakness is specifically that he has no resistance to it rendering his much touted invulnerability useless.

So hypothetically a magic sword can cut his skin the same as any other person's.

[up][up][up] I think your reading too deeply into this. He nearly killed Superman, thats all the kryptonite bullet incident needs to mean.

I think we know too little about the situation of Bloodsport to really tell. For all we know, he was hired by Lex Luthor to kill Supes in tandem with some other super heavy-hitter like, say, Atomic Skull. While Supes fought Atomic Skull to distract his super-reflexes, Bloodsport shot Supes from a distance with a kryptonite bullet, seemingly killing him. Bloodsport then collected Lex's money and went to do shit before Superman recovered from the bullet wound and came to collect Bloodsport from whichever tax haven he was enjoying himself at.

[up][up] Thats not what I mean, my apologies, its just I'm not sure it counts as fridge logic, the entire event is pretty vague just being a single line with no other context.

Its not like the aforementioned Captain Boomerang meets Flash incident where we see the entire event in detail and realize that Waller's talking complete nonsense.

All this talk of Bloodpsport's off screen moment of awesome is that a funny thing I noticed in both Squad films is that they imply an off screen dceu that doesn't really exist.

If you look at the main films they don't really have the concept of rouges galleries or even "supervillains" at all.

MOS was a one off alien invasion. BVS was a businessman who we haven't been told did any supervillainy before, Wonder Woman's bad guy was literally War and then Wonder Woman 2 was a bizarre magical global incident that was resolved in the span of a week. Birds of Prey had a normal (if kinda weird) gangster as it's main villain. Aquaman was a political crisis, Shazam was one guy unleashing magical demons.

The idea of a bunch of metahumans going around and doing crime until they are stopped and put in prison only exists in these films. No other DCEU property implies heroes fighting supervillainy is a regular thing .

[up] Zack Snyder did want to have a definitive ending to his version of the DCEU for better or for worse. So there's no time to set up any form of rogues gallery.

Like Superman dies after just a year of Supermanning.

On the topic of supervillains, maybe it's a Comic book villains die trope sort of thing. I genuinely can't see Batfleck sparing any of his villains no matter what Suicide Squad says.

That's just kinda the nature of a movie format versus the serialized nature of comics/tv shows. Aquaman's movie did imply he fought rogues- the opening with him fighting Black Manta and dad had the feel of something he does regularly- but it's not like they can have a Monster of the Week format with blockbusters.

The SS movies imply a whole lot of world building just by the sheer existence of several characters.

Ignoring Harley, Bloodsport, and Boomerang we have a bunch of characters who apparently each existed entirely in a vacuum unrelated to any specific hero.

Peacemaker is some kind of government super-agent who dressed himself in a garish and symbolic costume, Ratcatcher II is a foreign immigrant whose equipment was developed by her predecessor and King Shark is some kind of Demigod completely unrelated to the Greek pantheon established in Wonder Woman.

And even then barring the main group, Mongal and Starro are aliens, Weasel is a weasel man, and ya gotta wonder where/how TDK got that ridiculous power.

Apparently at one point James Gunn toyed with making Superman the main villain.

Oh right I forgot Polka Dot Man whose existence is outright because his mother wanted to turn her kids into superheros and successfully did so by infecting him with an inter-dimendional virus.

Actually Peacemaker himself is a big step towards making the setting casually costumed. As hes appears to be nothing more than a government-approved assassin yet hes given himself a crazy costume and iconic gear like his oversized guns.

It lends credibility to the idea that the govetnment/military has other superheroes/supervillains under its employ like Captain Atom and Major Force.

In several comics Peacemaker has a Peace Foundation of sorts. I wonder if the Costume is in universe Branding if sorts.

I still wish they woulda had him in jail for killing the President. Would have been a nice OH Shit moment setting up how far he would go.

[up][up][up][up] Yet again I don’t really think that the DCEU cares about worldbuilding anymore with their borderline-anthology format, especially compared to those other guys.

Actually, this conversation makes me wanna see a world that’s become completely desensitized to the concept of superheroes, where an alien invasion is just treated as another aspect of the daily commute, the military is loaded with guys who shoot lasers clad in self-assembling nanofibers and nobody bats an eye at the fact their classmate’s a Winged Humanoid.

Bloodsport himself I now realize is also an indicator of how casually super the setting is. As his armory goes virtually unexplained. We don't get a briefing on where he got all those nifty guns or what they are like if they are nanotech or the even the mechanics of how they function. He just has all these high-tech weapons so casually.

We got sci-fi guns, aliens, and inhuman monsters all just living together in the same setting with no mention. Its interesting how they are fully embracing the insanity compared to Marvel which tends to downplay the elements on occasion like how in Black Widow Taskmaster's mimic powers goes from being an inherant biological talent hes had from birth, to be a techno-logical based ability that is vaguely derived from an advanced suit.

The best "casually super" thing the movie does imo is the entirety of the Team-A.

You've got a brightly colored supervillain whose thing is throwing javelins, a maybe god / maybe warlord from space, some random supergenius, a guy who looks like a Weasel, and there's zero explanation for how any of those assholes got there, making them just feel like people plucked out of a crazy world. Javelin, especially, seems designed distinctly to have the look of a classic supervillain-type and just... be there, without explanation. It's great.

As much as I like the MCU, them never really committing to making their universe more "casually super" until very recently is something I've always criticized them for.

Personally, the foot trick Harley did makes me question why she puts on shoes at all.

Also, considering Gunn’s film is currently bombing, you think that the Suicide Squad movies could become a Broad Strokes pseudo-anthology each by a different Director?
