Here we go!!! After more than ten very productive years, Fast Eddie is stepping down as the administrator of TV Tropes. To Fast Eddie – Thank You! And on behalf of all of us here, cheers to a happy retirement.
Without further ado, the new Administrators are myself (drewski) and my good friend itcdr. We are youngerish TV addicts, movie lovers, gamers, web developers, and entertainment junkies with a ton of passion for the TV Tropes project and one general goal – to make this site insanely awesome!
So, what does this mean for the community and site?
- Wiki policy: No policies are being changed. We share the values and commitment to an open, informal, breezy and fun wiki.
- Forum policy: No changes.
- The staff: The mods are staying as they are, including keeping all their current powers and authority. We will continue to work with the Mods and the Troper base as always.
- The tech wish list and site development: Coding will no longer be a one-man labour of love, so more headway can be made on fixing bugs, developing new features, and generally polishing the wiki. This may take a little time to get going as we dig through several hundred thousand lines of code…thanks for that Fast Eddie…but we will get there!
Also, if you haven’t already seen the announcement - which is probably impossible - we launched a campaign on Kickstarter to accelerate new developments on TV Tropes. Check out the campaign - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tvtropes/the-tv-tropes-revitalization-project
- to learn more about our plans and how you can contribute - and see the awesome rewards for your help.
Please share your questions, comments, concerns and love below.

The beta was a limited thing being used by a limited amount of people. Now it is for everyone. It is natural it gets slow initially. Same thing with the login. Everyone is/was trying to log at the same time.
It seems the site have picked up the pace now, anyway. No noticeable slowness in my end right now.
Phew! I was worried I wouldn't be able to log in now that the new layout was in place, just as I wasn't able to log into the beta... but no, it worked out well enough.
Moon◊
It moves like an elephant, I can't see the forum threads on their respective pages, it works worse on my mobile devices than the old design...
One more mistake and I am leaving TV Tropes for good.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."That seems like a bit of an overreaction, don't you think? Considering how much they're overhauling Eddie's shoestrings and paperclips code I'm surprised it's running as well as it is. You need to expect at least a few buts. I'm the one who got glitchbounced here, and I'm willing to wait things out.
That.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistThat may be true, but it still seems like a bit much. There are lots of websites. Would it be that painful to just sit things out for a couple days?
Honestly, I'm just happy we have admins now that are actively looking for feedback. That's huge.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistI guess I Liked It Better When It Sucked then.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Some of the problems were introduced in the push to the production server, e.g. login issues and slowness. This is due mainly to the difference in the sizes of the full userbase and the subset who paid the $10 for beta access in the Kickstarter. MMO players can attest to these kinds of launch issues.
They are doing a new launch there are going to be bugs and problems while they hash things out. I am assuming this initially went through beta to set out the ground work ahead of time for future upgrades. Beta to live with many more users on many more different devices and browsers with customizations is going to take a while to hunt all the bugs down.
Every time they bring something out of beta into live there are going to be problems. Not just MMO players but if you do enough game betas of all sorts this pattern is pretty common.
So "Keep Calm and Carry On" the ride may be a little bumpy by the time they are done.
Who watches the watchmen? At the moment, the wiki watchlist is in your profile. We'll be changing that.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
I think it's at the bottom of the page now, along with everything else important.
It's still in existence, just no frontend at the moment https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/forum_troper_posts.php?fortroper=Sixthhokage1
You, sir, are not whistling Dixie.
- The site is now 100% impossible to navigate on my phone. Yes, one hundred percent. Everything and everything and everything is squeezed into about a half-inch column on the right side of the screen.
- The damn thing looks like a Facebook ripoff, but you knew that already.
...And I'm out of complaints. I did just get here, though, so expect more. Hell, I thought only backers were beta testing this, unless I got put on the list by accident.
EDIT: It has reached my attention that the Stalk-O-Matic has been removed. That thing was awesome. No better way to do background checks on new players in my game thread.
