Here we go!!! After more than ten very productive years, Fast Eddie is stepping down as the administrator of TV Tropes. To Fast Eddie – Thank You! And on behalf of all of us here, cheers to a happy retirement.
Without further ado, the new Administrators are myself (drewski) and my good friend itcdr. We are youngerish TV addicts, movie lovers, gamers, web developers, and entertainment junkies with a ton of passion for the TV Tropes project and one general goal – to make this site insanely awesome!
So, what does this mean for the community and site?
- Wiki policy: No policies are being changed. We share the values and commitment to an open, informal, breezy and fun wiki.
- Forum policy: No changes.
- The staff: The mods are staying as they are, including keeping all their current powers and authority. We will continue to work with the Mods and the Troper base as always.
- The tech wish list and site development: Coding will no longer be a one-man labour of love, so more headway can be made on fixing bugs, developing new features, and generally polishing the wiki. This may take a little time to get going as we dig through several hundred thousand lines of code…thanks for that Fast Eddie…but we will get there!
Also, if you haven’t already seen the announcement - which is probably impossible - we launched a campaign on Kickstarter to accelerate new developments on TV Tropes. Check out the campaign - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tvtropes/the-tv-tropes-revitalization-project
- to learn more about our plans and how you can contribute - and see the awesome rewards for your help.

Oh wow.
Well, farewell Fast Eddie and /salute. Will he continue to be involved at all with the site?
Welcome to our new admins as well.
Edit
As a whole, I'm happy with the site layout. Mobile support will be handy. The ads on the site are still some of the least intrusive I've seen, the ones I have problems with are because Flash ads are getting more intrusive across the net.
One organizational issue I'd like to see expanded/better implemented would be the trope relationships. The daughter/sister trope concept seems unexplained and barely utilized.

Wow, that certainly is big news. Warm regards to Fast Eddie and welcome the new leaders!
I just backed the Kickstarter for $5. That may go up depending on if things go as well for me as I think they will in the next coming couple of months.
They are still involved in troper capacity, at least. Won't share more information for privacy reasons.
Will the new mobile site have a mobile-friendly image uploader? I'm in.
I'm annoyed I can't donate from PayPal. I'll donate, but it will be a few days. Amazon doesn't accept Pay Pal.

It'll be interesting to see what comes of all this. I'm hoping for some changes for the better.
pittsburgh, you don't by any chance have Paypal's debit card, do you? They'll accept that.
Woah.
Thank you Fast Eddie for all your awesome work over the past decade!
"pittsburgh, you don't by any chance have Paypal's debit card, do you? They'll accept that. "
I do not. I'll have to change that.
I'm quite happy with the design as it is now ^^; do you think there will be a way to go between the two designs?
I'm going to donate soon, mostly because this seems to be the best hope for the badge shop to return. And if everything gets all shiny and new and such, well that's nice too.
Maybe now we'll have a proper quote functionality!
Very exited to hear about this. I can't give any money, but I could give a bit of time.
Thanks Eddie for running this website.
I'll be advising against a quote button, fer sure.
How about ads that dont hijack my mobile device? No, I do not want to play Game Of War or some Candy Crush type game. Unfortunately, every new tab I open in tv tropes redirects to the app store.

Some thoughts after reading the Kickstarter page. I don't think the automatic reciprocal wicking will work out because a lot of times you need different text for the works page and examples list entries. Also, sometimes a trope is worth listing one and not the other.
Anyway, have you considered making the site code open source? That way you could get extra volunteer help with development.
Hopefully this means TV Tropes will finally be moving to HTTPS as well.

A switch between the old and new navigation sounds plausible.
How long do you think this update will take? I'm very excited to see what will happen!
Farewell Fast Eddie, and thank you for bringing us this fun website. Your work will not be forgotten.
Unfortunately, every new tab I open in tv tropes redirects to the spp store.
If you're being redirected to the app store, it's likely malware on your device. I'd recommend going into app settings and disabling everything suspicious. Also, turn on Verify Apps if you haven't already for some reason.
Considering how haphazard the coding of this place acts at times, that techlist/site development is the best news I've heard all day. I for one welcome our new youngerish trope overlords.
Goodbye, Fast Eddie. I hope you enjoyed those 10 years you won't get back ;)
So...yeah. I'm fairly satisfied with how the site is right now, but I suppose you can always improve it. Good luck!
I'll donate tomorrow, when I get paid again. Due to my recent complaints about video ads, expect $25 from me.
Also, farewell Eddie. You have created a hell of a thing here, and that will never be forgotten
