There are at least two shows that i'm writing (or at least considering writing) fanfictions for and in both, i'm considering working in a timeskip.

In both scenarios, a few of the basics would be included; the characters being significantly older, much of the setting would be different and maybe, certain characters would be parents at this point. My problem is, i'm not sure how much time to skip.

In some shows and movies, it's only 2-3 years that are skipped, in others, it's 5. But for some of the changes i have in mind, 10 years seems like the right amount, however, that might seem like an unacceptably large amount of time.

Also, while we're on the subject, i also have another issue with Timeskips; they leave me wondering what went on in between.

Any thoughts?

My opinion on timeskips; if the changes are meaningful, why not to actually show how they happened? And if they weren't, why to bother skipping into the future anyway?
