"... and thus, with great difficulty, diligence and study you have all made it. Those who stand before me, I can say with all certainty that those who now stand before me are worthy of the title of Shinobi. Remember, that this is but the first step into a long road of self improvement, but be proud in your accomplishments... because now, you are all Genin"

The voice of Tadakatsu-sensei reached easily each and every one of the pupils now assembled before him, with the flow of the wind being the only thing competing with his deep gravely voice for the attention of his students. Today, a new promotion of youths were about to join the rank of the Shinobi of the Village Hidden in the Peaks... to finally graduate from the sole Academy of the Peaks, set high upon a hill, after rigorous tests to both mind and body.

The students stood at attention upon the Academy's rooftop in ceremony as the strongly built man finally opened a box and laid three forehead protectors on the table before him. Each of these had the mark of the Hidden Peak Village... Six lines, all diagonal in three pairs, both lines of a pair very close at the top and far away at the bottom, thus resembling three peaks with the middle one being the biggest. These were to be the student's mark as newly made Genin.

"Now, as you know, all of you have been sorted into teams of three to be led by a Jounin of the village. I will now be calling upon your names and thus reveal your teams. When I do so, come and get your protectors... and step out into the village as the Shinobi you now are. You will meet your new teachers in the location and time assigned on each team's scroll" says Tadakatsu-sensei before he started reciting the names... eventually, getting to a crucial few.

"Team 5... Tachibana Akemi, Kazan Otohime and Chiryo Shihio!"

"Team 6... Fujiwara Hikage, Hyuga Haruya, Kaminari Ippo!"

"Team 7... Inuzuka Shun, Yamamoto Tsurugi, Akisame Yuki!"

"Team 8... Hattori Ryuka, Shimaji Ryzo, Kamizuke Fuu!"

Thus, each team was formed... they all moved in their own ways to get their headbands and look upon the people they would depend on from then on. Each team got a scroll declaring their formation, their teacher and where to find them.

Of these Genin, Akemi was nearly paralyzed as she heard the formation of her team. Of all the students at the Academy, she could hardly believe the odds of her childhood friend and ward, Otohime to be in the same team as her. However, soon enough, shock gave way to relief and then delight. She looked warmly at her old friend, smiling brightly as she held onto the desire to jump in glee and instead walked reverently to get her forehead protector together with her new team.

Once they vacated the spotlight before the table and moved to a side of the rooftop she was finally free to speak "Hime-sama, it seems like fate will keep us together for a while more even after your family gave me leave" she says with a little bow and a friendly smile.

"Chiryo-kun, seems like we're together from now on as well" she says, turning to him with the same polite, but bright expression on her face as she extender her hand to him "We didn't hang out all that much before, but I'm still glad to have you with us"

Haruya listened intently to the declaration of his teammates, eager to find out who he was going to be working with for... well most of the rest of his life really.

"Fujiwara Hikage, Hyuga Haruya, Kaminari Ippo"

Well then... I guess that's that... He thought as he looked at the two people who had been declared his teammates. Fujiwara-san... Never really talked to her much... Her state of emotionlessness kind of creeps me out... and Kaminari-san... This one is interesting... I believe I've seen him actually working on something that resembles Gentle Fist... But... No Byakugan... As far as I know I think he's actually blind... Oh well. I guess I'll find out.

The young Hyuga stepped up and picked up his headband, brushing his finger against the polished metal plate bearing the symbol of the village. This is it father, mother, brother. This is how I now truly begin. He placed the forehead protector on his head and tied it off at the back, feeling a bit of the new weight on his head.

Otohime nodded as she finished settling her headband across her waist, tying the straps into the belt of her hakama with an ease that, she hoped, didn't make it obvious how much time she'd spent practicing just that with her mother's headband. "I'm glad we'll be together, Akemi," she replied, smiling. Tall and elegant, in luxurious robes embroidered with the Kazan family crest, she felt a little bit out of place as she looked around at the other genin. Most of them were younger than her, too... she shook her head and turned to the third member of their triad, Shihio Chiryo. The Chiryo had a somewhat unsavory reputation due to their work... but Shihio seemed likable enough. She held out her hand to him. "Take care of us out there, won't you, Chiryo-kun?"

Akisame tied his new headband around his neck, a grin hidden under his face mask. He didn't know much about Shun or Tsurugi, but at least he was on good terms with them. Hopefully they would be able to work well as a team and become better friends.

"Shun-san, Tsurugi-san." He spoke to his teammates. "I look forward to working alongside you."

Shihio perked up as he filed away the names of his teammates, Tachibana Akemi and Kazan Otohime. Then, he mulled over what he knew of the two, "So I get the princess and her bodyguard-vassal-servant-whatever. Hmm, never really paid them as much attention, might as well get to know them a bit better." Before reaching out with his own hands to those of his teammates, saying, "I will certainly try my hardest, Kazan-hime. And I'm also glad to be with you Tachibana-chan. Would you two like to sit down together somewhere we can get to know each other while we wait for our sensei?"

As Tadakatsu-sensei called out names for graduation, Shun tried not to look too impatient. From this moment on, she would be stuck with whoever she was assigned with until they were Chunin, and she really wanted to get on a team with a certain someone...

She grit her teeth together nervously when Team 5 was announced, then gave a relieved sigh when Otohime, her self proclaimed rival, was not with her or Haruya. The next set of names pretty much killed her hopes though. She wasn't on a team with Haruya either? Her own team was finally called, and Shun glanced at Tsurugi and Akisame before retrieving her headband. So she was going to have to deal with weather-boy and that kid from the new ice clan. Neither were completely offensive to her, but she didn't really know them at all.

Shun tied her headband around her next like a loose necklace and went over to her new teammates, sulking a little. It would take a few minutes for her to completely get over being disappointed. At Akisame's words, Shun just narrowed her eyes as she inspected the two of them. Her overly large and furry brown and white dog, Akane moved closer to them however, and started sniffing around them before barking once. Shun grinned at whatever the dog had said to her, pushing aside her earlier mood for the moment.

"Likewise, Akisame-san," she said, placing a hand on Akane's head. "Hope you guys are okay with dogs."

"No problem with me." Akisame said, as Akane sniffed him. "I look forward to working with you too, Akane-san." He addressed the Ninken.

Fuu frowned a bit. She didn't really know either of her teammates too well. She tied her protector around her neck and walked up to Haruya, poking him in the side. "Guess I won't get to tease you about your pervy eyes for a while, huh?" she teased. "At least you won't be able to ogle your betrothed for a while."

"Shun, Akisame, got it." Tsurugi deliberately pointed to each of his teammates in turn, then snapped up his own headband and affixed it to his tie. "And Akane." He smiled. "Fine with dogs myself. We can talk about the tactical mechanics behind that later. Looking forward to working with you guys too, it'll be the first time the Yamamoto Clan's gone into the field on the regular."

Otohime nodded, holding up a hand. "Sure, but... please don't call me -hime," she asked, glancing pointedly over at Akemi too. "Just Kazan is fine... or even Otohime if you like. We're teammates; we should be close, don't you think?" A bit belatedly, she glanced over at Hyuuga Haruya. He seemed to be settling in fairly well with his teammates already, though the girl he was talking to wasn't actually a part of his team, if she remembered right. Still, it was good seeing all her classmates in their new gear, and she smiled before turning back to her teammates.

It's been fun.

Fujiwara Hikage. The truly, quiet weird girl in the class. Never seemed to smile when something funny happened. She would just look on curiously. She read a lot. Whenever she would go up in front of the class to perform the techniques, she would always get them right, but never look proud or happy. Just emotionless content. She was no stranger to the many rumors about her clan. Scandalous cheats and denegenrate cooks, that like to snuggle up and fraternize with octopuses.

As always, Hikage stared blankly ahead as their sensei spoke, listening intently. When he finally finished, she looked at her teammates. One was a Hyuga, and the other was already blind. She'd be interested, if she usually felt that kind of emotion. She stood up and began walking over to Haruya. For someone so direct and quiet, she sure dressed...quite revealingly. It was family shinobi wear. She had no say in it.

She stood in front of Haruya, looking down at him. "Haruya-kun". She spoke to him like a child, as she did every one of her peers. It was almost like a reflex for her. "We're teammates, so try to keep up. I'll discipline you if need be."

This was probably the first time she had ever spoken to him directly.

Akane barked at Akisame and sat down, panting. Shun smiled, happy that her teammates were at least accepting of her partner. Shun raised a brow at Tsurugi's comment, and then remembered that his clan didn't usually produce active ninja. The Inuzuka often asked the Yamamoto clan for weather reports before going on tracking missions, just for checking the storm chances that would affect their skills.

"Don't worry about our teamwork, Akane-chan and I are in perfect sync," she said. "Oh yeah, your clan doesn't usually fight, right?" It may have sounded harsh to Tsurugi, but Shun was actually concerned about him. Would he be okay being a field ninja? She'd have to be careful around him when they left the village. But then again, he'd earned his headband, right?

The Blind Kaminari was staring straight ahead without truly staring, due to his lack of any actual eyesight. His ears perked up when he heard who he was going to be placed with. He held no ill will toward Haruya or Hikage, although he had always wanted to test himself against the boy if he was being honest. He was not a straight A student, that was for sure, his marks in Genjutsu and Ninjutsu were among the worst in the class, just barely enough to get by in the Ninjutsu category. His marks in Taijutsu were near the top, if not at the top, of his class. This team seemed to lean heavily towards his specialty...and he wasn't one to complain about it.

"Well, this promises to be great fun!" Ippo said with a smile as he bounced up and went over to his team, radiating joy as he appeared to make eye contact with Haruya. Despite his eyes being shut.

Tsurugi straightened out his tie. Right, this was the sort of thing he'd be hearing. Especially from Ninja with more directly dangerous powers—like his teammates, who had ice and a dog. "Well, we've manipulated weather patterns before for macro-scale support, but I guess so." He grinned. "All that means is that our opponents won't have prior knowledge on how to deal with my Weather Truth Ninjutsu. Speaking of truth..." He nodded towards Akisame. "Who's on our scroll?"

Haruya gave Fuu a blank stare (quite easily done when your eyes are blank white...), trying to act like he didn't know what she was talking about. He had used his byakugan to get a few... interesting looks at some girls... Including miss princess (just a preview in case the arranged marriage ever did go through, honest). It wasn't exactly a habit he was particularly proud of.

"I honestly have no idea what you're talking about Fuu." He said confidently. He then turned towards his new teammates, Ippo and Hikage. "Hello Fujiwara-san." He said in response, trying to ignore the treating like a child part, and instead ending up hooked on the whole 'discipline' thing. "Uuuuuuh. Ri-hi-hight." He continued as Ippo made his statement. "Anyways we should probably pop this thing here open right? Can't be waiting all day!" He cheerfully stated, holding up their scroll.

Fuu snickered and left Haruya, grabbing her team's scroll and looking around to find Hattori and Shimaji. She walked over to them. "Hey, I guess. I wonder who our Jonin-sensei is?" She opened the scroll for the trio to look at together.

Team 6

The scroll Haruya had opened contained the name Kotetsu Hageta, along with the time of 12:30 PM at Training Ground 25. This particular area was located a little farther up the mountain the Hidden Peak Village was build on, and they could hike to it in about half an hour.

Ryzo let out a small sigh as he collected his forehead protector and tied it around his neck. Not only did I not master the Fireball jutsu before graduation, I don't even really know these two all that well. The young shinobi felt a gentle weight land on his shoulder.

"I know what you're thinking Ryzo-kun. And you know full well that the Fireball is specifically cited as being unlikely to learn even as a genin. You are perfectly well on track," Dawn chided.

"Don't remind me." He shot back. "I don't recall summoning you. Came here on your own?"

She ruffled her feathers a bit. "I couldn't miss my dear friend's graduation, now could I?"

Ryzo let out a sigh and turned his attention to the open scroll. "I wonder that as well Fuu-san. Then again I wonder who you two are, no offense."

Fuu nodded. "I admit, I'm not too familiar with you, either. I usually, um... well, my clan head doesn't like me associating with people except a short list. I try to avoid giving him reason to dislike me more. I'm Fuu Kamizuke, nice to meet you. I use Wind techniques and Genjutsu. Is that a falcon summon?"

"Falcon!" Dawn squawked. The summon flapped her wings in irritation. "I will have you know that I am of a long, proud lin-"

Ryzo sighed, reached up and held Dawn's beak closed. "Dawn's a phoenix. She doesn't like being mistaken for other kinds of birds, so just remember to not do that."

The teen looked over at the bird. "Dawn, why don't you go back to the Forests and recover some energy? I'll call you back later if I need you." The phoenix nodded before disappearing with a "Hmph!" and a puff of smoke.

Ryzo rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry about that, she can be a hand-full. But I specialize in summoning and fire-style ninjutsu."

Fuu's eyes widened. "A phoenix summon? Sorry I mistook her for a falcon, but... no offense, I'd never suspect another genin to be able to summon phoenixes. And if you're Fire style, then that's good. Fire and Wind make for good combination attacks."

Haruya looked at the scroll. "Kotetsu Hagata. That's our Jounin. We're supposed to meet him at 12:30 in Training Ground 25." Haruya rolled the scroll back up and thumped it on his hand. "Well that's it. I wonder what kind of guy this Kotetsu-sensei is going to be. Shall we go meet him?"

Akemi for her part merely smiled at Otohime in a way that was both polite and noncommittal. She liked the way she referred to her old friend and she didn't see herself changing it anytime soon. Still, she was quick to change the subject by agreeing "Sounds quite good to me as well. Shall we move away from the Academy or stay within it to get to know one another?"

The scroll Akisame opened looked neatly written and very official, listing their names, their team and then their assigned teacher. This being a certain , Kouseki Hisui to be met in hour and half on Suimon Park, around half an hour walk away.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.
