I'm calling bullshit. THAT is fanmade??? I REALLY think its that the teaser got leaked early.
The YT account it was on was created on June 2nd, 2015, if it matters.

"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something." - Sol BadguyWell, the Netflix representative saying that the trailer isn't theirs seems like a pretty good reason to believe it's not theirs.
Anyone think they'll talk more about this Netflix show at San Diego Comic Con this year?
I bet this supposedly fake trailer is viral marketing for the show by Netflix. This article makes a really good case for it.
Now, I buy the argument that denying it was real would actually be a confirmation that it is a legitimate trailer by Netflix, as that was Handler's M.O. for anything ASOUE related back when he was writing it. And the absence of any sort of dream cast is a good point; usually those appear in the fan-made trailers.
However, arguing that an Easter Egg like having a record by The Gothic Archies in the video is "an obvious sign of realness" is just stupid. Anyone can put clever Easter Eggs in their stuff. Or trying to make an argument for the realness because the band lended their sound to Neil Gaiman's audiobook once, and that his wife's band was featured in the soundtrack of the trailer, and that another band was once featured in another trailer, and that their dog once had an actual real life series of unfortunate events and that their family doctor is named Klaus, is just reaaaally stretching it.
So I don't really know about "good case". The main point why I'd still believe it's real is mainly the production value, but even that's not a guarantee for anything anymore these days.
You seem to have very strange conspiracy theories about how Netflix's marketing team thinks.
It's a fanmade trailer. Actually, it's also probably someone's recruitment demo.
It's possible the actual source of where it was posted has gotten lost with people just sharing the video?
DumboYou talking to me?
I doubt it. If it was fanmade and advertising itself as real, why didn't Netflix take it down?
Like, it's a possibilty.
Well, there was a VERY popular fan-made opening sequence for Doctor Who. Not only did the BBC not take it down, they used a version of it for the Season 8 opening credits.
Some people are just freakishly talented.
"If I reach for the stars, you can't hold me back"And they actually hired the guy who did it.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Careful, the article misspells Sonnenfeld as "Sonnerfield".

Ooh, last show that Barry Sonnenfeld produced was Pushing Daisies. So that's awesome.

It didn't cause them any trouble they felt needed a takedown.
DumboJust found out this is a thing. Can't contain my hype for the show. I'm so happy.
Who was your favorite of the three Baudelaires? Mine was Sunny because she was a badass little baby.
When I was a kid, I liked Klaus the best. I was the nerdy book-obsessed type so I fit perfectly into his shoes.
Now that I'm older, I identify better with Violet.

Violet had a lot of responsibility thrust on her so young.
Violet's amazing. She once made an escape rope out of stuff she found in hospital closet, while the building was burning down, while drugged out of her skull.
And I've already said that on this thread. I still stand by it.

Oh God! Natural light!So...this happened.
They just announced who's playing Count Olaf.
And it's someone that would probably make you guys go "wait, what?"
POORLY CRAFTED HINT: Let's just say the Count may start having a thing for suits...as in nothing else would suit him quite like a suit.
Wait, what?
PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/They...Okay, didn't see that coming.
Oh God! Natural light!DID NOT see that coming, and now I'm REALLY curious as to wtf this is going to look like.
I can see this working. In fact, I'm expecting the exact same badly practiced evil laugh from Dr Horribles Sing Along Blog. Just a bit more make up.
I'm trying to picture NPH doing Olaf's "Hello hello hello" introduction. (When he introduces himself to the Baudelaires in the movie. No clue if it was ever in the books.)
...huh. It's hard, and I have to squint a little, but I can actually see that working.
I'll say the obvious and state they really should hire whoever made that.
