One of the better Industrial Metal bands, just behind Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM and Godflesh for me. My favorite albums by them are probly Herzeleid, Sehnsucht and Mutter, though they're all good.
Have another one:
Rammstein - "Ich Will"
: And it's the official video, too!
Jawohl! One of the two industrial bands I actually enjoy (the other one being Knorkator
).
So far I know nine of their songs: "Amerika", "Bück dich", "Du hast", "Du riechst so gut", "Engel", "Links 2 3 4", "Pussy", "Rein raus" and "Sonne". All of these are good, but "Pussy" and "Amerika" are tied for my favourite, with "Engel" following close behind.
I'll probably listen to more of their stuff sometime, but lately I've found that this approach works best for me when getting into a new band. If I download just a handful of songs first, those songs are much more likely to stick in my head than if I immediately start with two or three albums.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...I wouldn't call 'em straight Industrial- they're a bit too Metal for that- but they're quite a good band, and pretty consistent, too- not a single truly bad record to their name.
Well yeah, I meant "industrial" as in "industrial metal".
I've been hanging out in /r/metal too much. It's kind of a habit to drop the "metal" part of genre tags there – so people talk about "death", "black", "power", "thrash", etc.. Of course, this can cause problems when the first part of the tag is also a genre by itself, e.g. saying "folk" when you mean folk metal, or in this case "industrial" when you mean "industrial metal".
Not really a fan (they're just not my thing), but I have to give them respect for becoming a success in America despite singing in their native language. While large parts of the world seem to embrace musical acts who sing in English, the reverse is typically not true in America, but Rammstein are one of the major exceptions. Though it helps that the German language fits their sound well.
Downloaded some more of their songs. I find "Mann gegen Mann" especially catchy.
Doublepost, but I wrote down some musings about Rammstein in Shreddit's "What have you been listening to?" thread for today:
Most metal sounds furious and wild. Rammstein... not so much. It all feels tighter, more disciplined somehow. If I had to pick one word: Rammstein's music sounds authoritarian.
The pounding drums and simple guitar riffs evoke associations with heavy machinery – or with marching troops. (This applies especially to their mid-tempo songs, like Ich will, Du hast and Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen.) The glossy, synth-heavy production values make everything sound bombastic and larger than life. Till Lindeman's growling, "Teutonic" vocal delivery perfectly matches the lyrics, which are often phrased as blunt commands: 'Ich will eure Blicke spüren, ich will jeden Herzschlag kontrollieren!' 'Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluß, weiß noch nicht dass er tanzen muß!' 'Du bist hier in meinem Land! Meine Welle und mein Strand!' and of course 'Bück dich, befehl ich dir...'
Rammstein is music that brooks no argument.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...
Pretty much, and that's why we love 'em. Basically an Industrial Metal Front 242 or Nitzer Ebb (who did authoritarian-sounding music in a more purely EBM / Industrial vein), but with a lot more charisma and brute force.
And the results speak for themselves...

For the first song, I will mention the one that gave the band it's name. The name comes from an air disaster, which seems to fit the band pretty well. Their sound is unique. Here's Rammstein.
