This is like a prequel to a prequel. That would be hilarious if it wasn't such a ridiculous idea.
I love the comment on that article that says: "They’re apparently just doing it for the El of it."
Yeah I could easily see a series about Jor-El as Science Hero, whether in a Silver Age type Raygun Gothic setting or in a more modern Post-Cyberpunk Krypton but has his father ever even appeared in the comics, except possibly as a walk on or in a throwaway line?
Trump delenda estI think but they would have to change his name because it could be offensive but he was named after the creator of Superman Jerry Siegel.

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureMeh.
I nominate James Callis if it comes to that. He's talented and pretty. But it will likely go to a Lord & Taylor model.
I'm a skeptical squirrelWhat next, tv shows about every doomed village/city/country/planet?
Tomorrow, Disney announces Star Wars: Alderaan.
And then the next month, they'll be giving out promotional posters for, 'Star Wars, Episode 0: The Prehistoric Era From Far, Far Away'.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundI was somewhat interested to see a Jor El story that ended the show with Krypton blowing up, but it's going to be about Jor El's father instead? Eh, not feeling it. Who thought that kind of hook would interest people over a show about Jor El himself?
Krypton is still in development
Goyer confirmed it will be a prequel to Man of Steel and exist 200 years before the Krypton part of Man of Steel.
He also said that when he wrote the script for Man of Steel he originally had 40 pages just dedicated to Krypton but they had to cut it down in other drafts of the script.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI don't care about Krypton, it's doomed anyway. And we know how it's doomed, there's no reason to care about any subplots or supporting characters. Unless it's just an excuse to explore the galactic DCU as a whole.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. If they treat it like Caprica, it could be interesting. Everyone knew that Caprica was doomed, but the show was good anyway.
It'd be cool if Tomar-Re was a recurring character in this series. The last shot of the show would be Krypton blown up and him showing up a few minutes late going "aw, man!"
Okay, it'll probably be something like this,◊ but still.

The director for the pilot is the creator of Peaky Blinders on Netflix.
I'm interested in the series because it is the furthest back that we know of will be shown in the DCEU, since it is 200 years before Man of Steel.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI'm almost interested just because it's such an unexpected idea. Generally speaking, television shows are developed because you have an idea of the 100+ episodes that will be made. This is something that sounds like a one-shot comic, even an Elseworld story, but to be an actual television show is a surprise.
Of course, given that it is apparently about Jor-El's father that means Jor-El himself will factor into it at some point. It might be interesting to see what influenced Jor-El to be the radical thinker that he was. It's kind of similar to learning about the history of the Wayne family, and how different generations had their own impact on Gotham.
I'd think this was a pretty dumb idea even if it wasn't Goyer. With him at the script, I will absolutely not be watching any of this.

NOMUUUUUUUURAAAAAAAA!!! >:(He isn't the only one behind it.
Just like he wasn't the only one responsible for Constantine.
The other showrunner was a good writer for Stargate SG-1.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI won't watch it because it's going to be better then the movie franchise it's leading us too, and somehow that ruins the show for me.
I've heard good things about his other show, Da Vinchi's Demons.
Kind of like Agent Carter, in that this is a story about characters I don't typically care about in a time period I don't care about, but, it's certainly unique. Maybe there'll be some hint of Bertron and Doomsday - or at least there could've been if Lex hadn't created Doomsday in BVS.
I didn't think I'd care for Gotham since it had an inevitable conclusion, but hey, I'll give this a shot.

LYTA ZOD | This twentysomething beauty will likely have some familial tie to Superman’s future foe, General Zod, while she herself is a (reluctant) warrior.
VAL-EL | Seg’s genius grandpa defied death by going into the Phantom Zone, and is a staunch believer in space exploration. (We know that’s a lesson he’ll pass along to his great-grandson.)
Other characters include:
ALURA ZOD | Lyta’s mom happens to bear the same name as Kara Zor-El’s mother on Supergirl, while “Zod” always raises an eyebrow because of that whole “kneel before” thing.
DEV-EM | If anyone is going to survive Krypton’s inevitable fate, it’ll be this chiseled, twentysomething bad boy. In the comics, Dev escapes the doomed planet, abuses Superboy on Earth and eventually becomes an ally of the Legion of Super-Heroes… in the 30th century.
TER-EL | AKA Seg’s father. We didn’t get him to play Supergirl’s Man of Steel, but maybe Tom Welling (Smallville) could play Clark’s great-grandfather on Krypton?
.....Who the hell cares about Superman's grandfather?????
