Opened this one. The suggestion is certainly less crowded, but it will probably need a caption to point out that these are crossover characters (ditto for the current).
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMaybe a note pointing out the characters from each franchise?
The suggestion is definitely easier on the eyes; a caption noting the characters/franchises would be good.
Is there a screenshot on the official site showing Sonic, Mario, Pac-Man, and Mega-Man together? Just those four would read even easier, and would still portray the trope well since they're all from different companies.
That's a little too small to get the "massive" part. I think the shot provided is just right; big enough that it feels huge, small enough you can tell what's going on.
So any dissension on my suggestion? Do we need a crowner, or is it okay to move forward?
Swapped out the image with the note.
Whew, sire, that were only 3 votes in favour (one of which conditional). We don't move so quickly.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAny objections, then?
I don't find the suggestion particularly better than the current.

Check out my fanfiction! It's a video game logo with tons of characters that are far more visible and recognizable instead of just a giant mish-mash. What more would you want?
I don't have any less problems picking out the characters in the current. In fact, I can even pick out more characters there.
Check out my fanfiction! Not only are the characters too cluttered together in the earlier image, it's a fan compilation. In fact, it's painfully clear that a lot of those characters aren't even in the same game; it's just a bunch of game character art crammed into one image. So it's not indicative of an actual crossover.
Current's awful. It's just a photoshopped bunch of characters. That's all well and good, but it's not, you know, an actual crossover. Or game.
The Smash Bros logo is fine. The characters are diverse (we've got a blue hedgehog, a super deformed guy, realistic people, and puffballs. Not to mention medieval characters and Sci-Fi characters).

I wouldn't think that's a crossover based on the cover at all.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. The main problem with that one is that at wiki size, I think most of the smaller characters would be difficult to see clearly.
Maybe the 3DS cover of Smash◊ could work? Granted, it does have less characters in it, but there's still variety there.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Or for the Smash characters page we could just get another image? Maybe the image of Brawl of all the characters gazing into the sunrise?
I'd rather see a good argument as to why it's better on Massive Multiplayer Crossover, given it was on the Characters page first.
Moon◊Because it shows multiple, clear characters with differing styles all together in one game, and it's an official logo rather than some cobbled together fan art.
Here's one of the Brawl options in question, by the way, for the Characters page.◊
So instead of the current fan-made collage of characters we currently have on the page, I'd like to suggest the official art for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. It helps a bit that the characters are more discernible instead of being a mishmash of bits and parts.
