I think the writing of queer characters in OP is a fair criticism. I think the writing of women is generally good (see my post on the previous page about fanservice from a little while earlier).
But this is not the topic for that. To bring it back to My Hero Academia, I think I would've been okay with the Internship arc if Nejire wasn't shafted as well. I mean, it was basically the Big 3's intro arc, and Nejire barely got to do anything.
I also wish Momo had something more substantial to do in the Kamino Ward arc. She's kind of only there because she has to be since she made the tracker. (Oh, also, the anime decided her episode of the Spring Exams arc would be a GREAT time for lots of close ups of her boobs. Really, in THAT episode? So that was an annoying one)
Otherwise I think I agree with Diana that women in MHA generally are better written and utilized then a lot of people give credit for.
Also, this is only tangential, but I actually had a "hell yeah" reaction to Blackwhip: Froppy Style. Take that as you will.

The anime is bad about making the fanservice even worse.
I was rereading the Sports Festival arc and it stuck out to me how I didn't really feel *that* creeped out by the manga version of the cheerleading stuff compared to what I remember of the anime's version of it. But it's already well-known how the anime changes body proportions and stuff. Nejire got it really bad.
Shit, one thing I *will* praise Horikoshi for is that in the manga, Momo is depicted with a bit of body fat and belly rolls and stuff. Most of the female characters still have roughly the same body type and stuff, but it's a subtle detail that I genuinely appreciate and the anime excised it.
Same with Ochako. I could actually see the manga version of her as "chubby" (if I squint, granted, but she's still noticeably squishier than many of her peers). Anime Ochako goes straight into Hollywood Pudgy territory.
And considering she has canonically made herself emaciated from using her fat reserves up before, to the point they have to have Lunch Rush at the ready in the fortress so she doesn't do so in the final battle, she could probably benefit from being a bit chubbier.
Yes, I am willing to die on this hill. Big Beautiful Woman Momo supremacy!

Rodimus: Self-sacrifice, Magnus— It's cheap. It's a cheap way out. I need to live so I can make amends.
Preach it!
On a similar note, I have been wondering how dangerous Momo would be if she ate the Baku-Baku No Mi. Given her super genius and access to UA's Resources she could make some cool stuff after eating the proper materials and combine it with materials she makes with her Quirk.
And again, Momo teaming up with Mei either way would be amazing.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?I have to wonder what's going to happen to all the clones once Toga's transformation wears off. Twice's clones persist until actively destroyed by inflicting damage on them, but we don't know what happens if Toga's transformation wears off while she's using the quirk of the person she transformed into.
So, was rereading more of the manga, finished up with the Sports Festival arc.
God, I forgot how fucking hype the matches were. Like, Ochako and Bakugou's match is brief but it's genuinely pretty good, but Midoriya and Shoto's match...not gonna lie? Definitely one of my favorite fights.
Also I forgot how All-Might hugged Todoroki when he's handing the medals out at the end, that was sweet.
You know, I read a little bit of Geoff Johns' JSA run a few years ago, and between his bird-theming, his occasional berserker personality, and his gritting 90's face on page 10, Tokoyami really is reminding me of Carter Hall.
If only he had a mace, then it would be perfect. Maybe that'll be how he defeats AfO. A giant mace made of darkness.
Revelry in the dark.

Considering even Shiketsu of all people are getting a moment here, I'm holding on to the vein hope that Mina, Itsuka, and Tetsutetsu can all still get one last moment before the series ends.
Rodimus: Self-sacrifice, Magnus— It's cheap. It's a cheap way out. I need to live so I can make amends. We said before it would feel weird if the Dabi stuff ended without a confrontation with Endeavor, and that's true, but I also feel like this is the kind of thing that can't end without the entire family being involved somehow. Because, you know, the story sorta spelled out that needs to happen.
But I have no idea how something like that happens now.
Easy to miss, but one panel shows Kamui Woods badly wounded and cradling Kinoko. I doubt she's dead, but that blast did a number on both of them it seems.

Just giving the girls a little bit more to do would help quite a bit.
What are some ways you think a reformed hero society could rehabilitate reformed villains? As a starter, I think Toga could perform well in a hospital role. Unidentified blood? Need to quickly determine a patient's quirk? Let her have a taste test, and you can have all that knowledge in an instant.
