I've seen people theorize that all of the Quirks will be cribbed from Horikoshi's favorite superheroes. Do we know any he's really into besides Spiderman?

[up][up] Reminded me of how on MAL, someone actually made an entire thread just to tear down the new OP.

I reported the dumbass, getting the thread deleted, & when he then reposted the thing on the main episode thread & calling the site creatively bankrupt or whatever I just called him a narcissist for assuming he was important enough to make a thread for such an inane purpose.

That was funny. tongue

Well there's nothing he can take out of Batman outside of making Deku rich, and besides that's Aizawa's and Shinsou's deal anyway, but another power of Spider-Man he could give Deku is the Spider-Sense, which if beefed up would be straight up precognition, if limited to a few seconds into the future..

From other famous superheroes, well the series owns a lot to the X-Men, so there's the eye beam from Cyclops, the teleportation from Nightcrawler, Shadowcat's power was already given to Mirio, Wolverine's healing factor would be too much of a Game-Breaker and the claws don't fit him anyway, same deal with Storm's weather manipulation.

There's always Cannonball I suppose, but that's too similar to which he already has.

...mmm, thinking about it, there's a lack of varied superpowers in Western comics, most of the time it's just Super-Strength and laser beams.

[up]My biggest problem with MAL is how people can vote on a series before all the episodes aired.

I mean it is not unreasonable to stop a series before it's finished, but still, it feels unfair to critizice something before the whole product it in your hands, and anyone who cares can just go back after it fully aired and give it a zero, anyway.

It'd be funny if one of them had a slight healing factor that's now been amped up to wolverine tier.

Taking from Wolverine could mean that bone Quirk I was hoping for.

Bone growing (sounds dirty) is more the domain of Spike.

Who later learned how to set them on fire, which makes no bloody sense but fuck it, everyone loved that episode.

Technically Wolverine does have bone claws. They are just covered in metal.

There's also Marrow who too manipulates her bones.

What about something stealth related?

Well if it were up to me I'd take my cues from Kimimaru of Naruto, whose bone manipulation is rather gross and looks rather painful.

And holy shit I actually remembered the guy's name from memory! waii

I think Marrow's abilities was also disconcerting.

You know, from the cartoon.

That was good show.

Shame the next one which is the last show the X-Men had since turned the crew into pricks, fellatiated Wolverine all the time, & shat on Cyclops.

Well I heard good things about the anime.

Which, breaking from tradition, actually made moving on from Jean's death Cyclops' character arc, which if you ask me is already worth the price of admission.

I mean I didn't read a lot of X-Men but I remember Cyclops as a really boring prick that grew a giant pair of balls and blasted Juggernaut with his own variant of the Kaioken x4 Kamehameha, not a giant whiner screaming "JEEEEEEAN" all the damn time.

Cyclops is actually one of the better X-Men characters, especially superior to Wolverine.

He is the revolutionary, the man always willing to fight & move forward, constantly thinking of ways to better himself & Mutantkind day after day. He is devoted 100% to the cause which makes him rigid & stoic but never boring.

And he is always willing to make the hard choices. Even when the X-Men turned coward & started sucking up to Wolverine to even greater lengths, Cyclops never lets that stop him no matter how much Marvel hates him.

Plus his terrible treatment is pretty synonymous with the problems of the modern X-Men.

As long as its not Ultimate Nightcrawler.

He's a homophobe & sexual harasser.

Sticking to the idea of Bone quirks, didn't Kimimaro's Kekkai Genkai only really work because he had a minor Healing Factor? At one point he took an entire bone sword out of his body, and it left his arm hanging limply there for awhile, so it sounds like it took a good chunk of the bones in his arm to make that thing. So wouldn't Deku need a minor Healing Factor to properly make use of any bone shenanigans?

Though admittedly, it would be kinda cool to see him firing bones out of his body like a porcupine. Plus, he could probably combine it with Air Force to do something similar to Johnny's Tusk and what it does to his nails.

[up]Also so long as it isn't Pope Nightcrawler. God that plan was stupid.

We don't talk about Ultimate Marvel in general aside from Spider-Man.

And also the Maker. Who knew making a Doctor Doom version of Reed Richards would work so well? tongue

The only power in terms of bone manipulation I can see going for Izuku, would be "Bone Reinforcement" aka "making his bones stronger and more durable"

And for an added condition, it would need a extra calcium-intake to function properly. (diary products and the like)

Much easier to explain away to the rest of the class.

Based on that description it doesn't sound like there would be anything they could see that would need to be explained away to begin with.

So, pretty unlikely to be a thing. Not visually or narratively interesting.

That's a reason to not do it, though. If it makes things easier it makes the story less interesting.

Okay, want flashy stuff?

Here's one then.

"Additional disposable Arm Creation" aka "Grow more arms."

Like this.

"Can't risk breaking your only arms? Then grow a new pair and break them instead! Grow, break, dispose, repeat. The spider way of doing things!"

That would show, him going "Stage 1 Man-Spider" that is, and would give him something to work with.
