Maybe Ujiko was the one to save Dabi (unbeknownst to him) and when he said he liked the aesthetics he was complimenting his own work.
Maybe he's like Desty Nova and modifies people on his own whims
What if Dabi has been dead all along and is only kept alive through someone else's quirk?
...Then he's not dead.
Well not completely
More seriously, the way that he acted in regards to Endeavor/Shoto points to him being the actual Toya, not just some weird zombie in his body.
Kurogiri's attitude was always pretty servile, so there's room for him to be some sort of puppet.
But Dabi is quite clearly a real person with thoughts and feelings of his own.

Some guy has a resurrection quirk but depending on how long they've been dead it damages their brain.
The recent information that what happened with Toya occurred around the same time as Rei scarring Shoto is pretty interesting.
Dabi would have no idea about any of the radical changes that have happened in the family. He certainly wouldn't know about Endeavor's drastic changes, or that whole years(?) long period that Shoto was only using his right to spite Endeavor. He probably thinks Shoto is still just going along with Endeavor's obsession to surpass All Might.
Yeeesh that’s one unlucky family.
On the other hand, that means he was a 14-15-ish yo teenager when that happened, and that Shouto would remember him rather well.
Why does Toya being 14 or 15 when Shoto was five mean he'd remember him well? Shoto being that young makes him less likely to make a connection.

Endeavor didn't seem to recognize Dabi either so he must have changed considerably since he kicked the bucket
Wasn't Shoto 7 at the time? Or maybe I'm mixing it with something else… huh, yeah, 5 might be a bit too young.
Endeavor could barely make ou anything. But, like, yes? He's covered in skin-grafts(?) and piercing and his hair is a different color and texture.

He is literally covered in scars and has probably dyed his hair, so I don't blame Endofwar for that one really. Not helped by Enju thinking his kid is dead.

Pretty sure Dabi would of intentionally made himself look different to throw off his family
Isn't his hair burnt rather than dyed
We saw the picture of Touya.
Even if it’s at a younger age Dabi looks completely unrecognizable.
That's my assumption for now.
There's still the voice though… but I guess it's still in the middle of changing in the mid-teen period…
By the way, I just noticed that the French manga translation had renamed Dabi as "Crematorium". Which sounds much cooler if you ask me.
All Might will be facing Might Guy from Naruto
the more you know*==
Come to think of it, not only does Burnin' share a birthday with Toya, she's also in the same age range, so they might have even been born the same day.
I wonder if that's set-up for something. Like, maybe the rest of the sidekicks are celebrating Burnin's birthday at the agency, then Endeavor asks and he's like Oh, my son would have turned the same age today, what a coincidence. Then we cut to the PLF headquarters where Toga and Twice are wishing Dabi happy birthday while he vaguely reminisces about an ambiguos Dark and Troubled Past.
And that's the Toya tease of the month.

I mean, Dabi may not be a very successful experiment. The doctor can Frankenstein, but if Dabi could not be tamed or perhaps his quirk was just too self-destructive to be of use, they could've just let him go.
Or Ujiko didn't realize his frankentherapy worked until later.
Ujiko certainly hints that he's met Dabi before, even if Dabi doesn't remember.
All of this remains to be seen, of course. But even Dabi's aesthetic is that of a frankenstein.
I have to say, I'm not really getting this push to try and connect Dabi to Ujiko/AFO. Besides the aforementioned lack of even a hint of a connection, there's nothing implying that Dabi's Quirk has been altered at all - super-high temperature flames that his body wasn't suited to handle just sounds like it was always Toya's Quirk worked.
I get there has to be an explanation for how he's still alive and his appearance but I really would rather "AFO/Ujiko did it" doesn't because a running thing.
