I did like that Iida shined the most in Round 3. I don't think his lack of prominence is as bad as with Ochaco because I think the times we do see him still help get the point of how his character is improving and he's marching towards his dream, but the fighting also helps with that.
Here's to hoping Ochaco gets something like that.
Yeah, it's less annoying with Iida because he at least got some solid focus during the Stain arc.
Uraraka is probably number 1 on my "characters who need way more focus" list at the moment.
Also, one more note on this chapter: I liked it, but I feel like it was a minor wasted opportunity for Bakugo to not have the same teammates that he did during the Cavalry Battle. Would've been a great demonstration of how he's progressed.

All things considered, Iida got quite a showcase in his match. I'd say it was good for him considering he's fallen out of the limelight.
The funny thing about characters like Kirishima and Momo is that their popularity likely stems from their relationships with more important characters (Bakugo and Todoroki respectively). But if you took those away, can you really call them main characters?
The reason Deku Baku Todo are generally considered the main characters is because they're the only ones in the entirety of Class A to have ongoing plotlines and receive the most consistent focus. I feel like any of them can hold an arc on their own because of that, but I don't get that same feeling from anyone else in Class A.

Yeah, those three are clearly the main characters. The reason I mentioned Uraraka and Iida specifically is because they were two of the first classmates introduced, and supposedly have a closer relationship to Deku. Bakugo and Todoroki are primary characters as far as his development as a hero goes, but Uraraka and Iida are pretty important to his development as a person; they're basically the first friends he's ever had who actually like and respect him for who he is rather than bullying him, and I'd like to see that side of things get examined a little more.
I honestly don't know what I would've done in this situation. The closest I can think of off the top of my head would be to format the battle in a way that doesn't require so many battles to play out. Maybe something like a massive game of Capture the Flag between the two classes so that you could have more people involved at once, but the focus would be flexible enough to go to whoever is currently doing something interesting.

I think the context probably also has something to do with that. People complained about missing the matches in the sports festival because A. almost all of those matches involved Class A students and B. they actually had an impact on the arc because they determined who would move forward. In this case neither of those apply; half the characters involved have only been seen before as background characters, and outside of bragging rights it really doesn't matter much who wins or loses.

That's a fair point, but the ones we didn't see in the Sports Festival were all also really short.
Like, you could devote an entire chapter or something to Mina vs. Aoyama, but would anyone have actually liked to have seen that?
But I think this was a big factor two. If each of these matches were like two 19-20 page chapters, it probably wouldn't have the same feel to it.

Yeah, that would definitely have helped as well.
And yeah, Aoyama vs. Mina didn't really merit a whole chapter, but more than one panel would've been nice.
Reaction Image RepositoryAnd I'm gonna say it again, I really like Awase's costume. It might be one of the more practical ones, while still looking cool.
And I like him carrying around a lot of steel to weld to people and things (though I wonder about the weight), instead of just relying on whatever might happen to be around.
I hope that's what the outcome of this battle, whatever it is, leads to.

At least Superman can kiss Lois Lane onscreen in any random episode of any show he's in.
Naruto had to wait till he was in a Goddamn movie before he could kiss Hinata & I think that's the only kiss they've ever shared onscreen since.
Sokka & Suki was pretty decent too.
I'm also tempted to say Zuko & Mai but I won't.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."This is actually the perfect chance for Deku and Ochako to hook up too; Deku can realize that he doesn't always have to do the hero thing by himself and Ochako can finally just get her feelings under control.
Now imagine how much spaghetti is going to fall.

Definitely cancel proof alright.
