Setsuna being an eye in the sky is nice, but unfortunately only two eyes cant see everything. Honestly they were doomed the second they underestimated the synergy of the opponents team. While bakugo was the offensive force, they counted on the rest of the support team to be easy pickings.
That and well, bakugo is much smarter than he appears. Class b never got to see his strategic side before now. That bomb idea was hilariously clever.
I guess my biggest annoyance here is that both female recommended students got so much hype before their matches, only for them to lose rather pathetically. It's one thing to lose after a hard fought match, like Match 3 when both sides had changes to show off.
And then it's another to lose after so much buildup because you neglected to have a backup plan after your first one failed. Momo and Setsuna didn't even get a chance to do anything great before going down, it's hilarious.
We already know Bakugo is a combat genius, so yea, it would have been nice to see at least one recommended student live up to their hype. We didn't even learn any of this team's hero names, that's how unimportant they were in this match.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
Momo almost saved her team from the unexpected circumstances thrown into their and her faces before going down doing everything she could to slow the enemy team's leader down. The only reason Class-B won, was due to one of their members pulling up a unknown trump card on an already unknown quirk that forced Momo into improvising and bail her team out as she did.
Tokage had a iron-clad, perfect plan based on the information she and the rest of class-B had available on the opponents, utilized the teammates at the best of their ability, provided reasonable advice in dealing with the biggest threat (Bakugo) and if the info had been correct, would have won.
The former adapted, the latter didn't have time to. Both faced unknown factors that they had no way of seeing coming.
I find it impressive that they got as far as they did despite these hurdles, showing that when they got time, they are indeed worth the recommendations that got them in in the first place.
It's just unfair to put these two down without seeing their efforts fully for what they actually are.
But Momo didn't improvise, because as you said, Shroom choking Tokoyami wasn't expected. They lost because Momo's team had no backup plan, and all she could do was simply slow Kendo down, which she barely did because Kendo was still able to capture Tooru.
It's the same with Setsuna; she had a perfect plan, but also had no backup plan in case the first one failed. In both cases, the supposed "master strategists" had no contingency plans just in case their plans went up in smoke.
Bakugo clearly had a backup plan in case his "I'll rush the opponent while you guys back me up" didn't work and that was simply having his teammates assist him in case Class B got the jump on him.
If you were to look at this as a real life-or-death match against villains, both losing teams would have been dead because they did not account for the unexpected, which is something any good strategist should do.
But eh, it's fine. It's clear Momo or Setsuna didn't get in for their combat prowess, but probably just someone else's word for how "Smart" they are.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
Momo improvised the moment Shemage used her powers, providing the emergency kit for the rest of the team to use while she went in herself against the leader of the enemy team.
And Tokage didn't, since she only had moments to work with and as Monoma demonstrated, "nobody" of Class-B could imagine Bakugo being capable of change, Tokage even screamed that out right before the final blow. Which did her in, since non of anyone had any reason to imagine him going through Character Development as he did.
that aside, we actually don't know the conditions of a recommendation to be granted to a student, so until that is made clear, downplaying and hyping the recommended students is nothing more but a effort in futility.
That aside, being "smart" doesn't equal being "wise".
Momo got some actual experience (wisdom) under her belt.
Tokage didn't.
Success hinges not on the gifts, but what one does with them.
Simple as that.
And what was Momo's plan after giving Tokoyami goggles? Because she put herself in a situation where she couldn't beat Kendo, and sure enough that's how she lost.
And that's what I'm talking about; expected the unexpected is an essential strategic trait. I'm not saying that Setsuna should be aware of any and every situation, but accounting for unexpected outcomes is kind of important in these scenarios.
But you know what, I'll give Momo the benefit that she actually has been shown to be really smart, she's just a terrible front-line fighter. Setsuna doesn't really have the benefit of any prior showings of competence before now, and her first real combat situation is just getting effortlessly stomped by Bakugo.
Compare Setsuna's performance with Juzo, the other recommend student. When he saw Iida bust out of his laid out trap, he didn't fall apart, he just fell back to regroup later. And even when he kicked in the back of the head and almost passed out, he still was coherent enough to make one last desperate attack that ultimately prevented his team from losing. That's how a good strategist functions; they don't crack when their initial plan fails and keep fighting until they can't anymore.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.At the very least, you can't say Yaoyorozu lost "pathetically" since, although she lost her personal battle, she went above and beyond to try to win the war and displayed the development she gained from her final exam battle.
Something I've thought off and on through this arc, but does it seem like Class B has, overall, been better at strategy where Class A has been better at tactics?
In match one, B had a strategy that netted them 2/5 members of the opposing team early on, but crumbled quickly one their heavy hitters were taken out or incapacitated.
In match two, again B's strategy was superior in that it put Class A on the defensive at the start and only Yaoyorozu's actions gave them a shot a victory; a shot that failed primarily because of a nasty shot held in reserve.
March three is an outlier, since Class B threw strategy out the window and Honenuki and Poni were able to respond well to the various upheavals.
Now here, the moment B's strategy hit an unexpected wall they had nothing and, like in match one, crumbled quickly.

I say pathetically because she still had no plan if she was matched up one on one with Momo, I just expected her to have some type of back up since she knows she's not a good fighter. But you know what, I'll be easy on her because Tokoyami was the only real heavy hitter on that team and Aoyama and Tooru were just overall useless.
And no, I've noticed that too; someone pointed out that Class B tend to fight more like villans, trying to meticulously plan and dwindle down Class A. While Class A just straight up improvise on the spot and adapt to any scenario.
It's not really a coincidence that the only match Class A lost was when they tried to be strategic and Class B was able to tie when they went in for an all out brawl
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Now I will criticize one thing: unless team B destroys deku, we have 2 class a wins, a tie, and a b win that they admit they didn't feel like they earned. I love seeing how class b worksand class a did have a lot more experience than b, but if the chapter was to show B catching up, I'm a little concerned other people are going to notice these results are a bit off.
Kendo said that she didn't feel like she earned her win (which I can understand, when you can punch through titianium without breaking a sweat and corner a support character 1 on 1, you expect things to turn out much better than it did for her), none of the others did. Nor should they. Manga seperated the team leader, which was crucial for victory, and also accelerated the growth of the mushrooms. Mushroom Girl almost won the match for her team with her quirk, and after that went on to actually winning the match by singlehandedly taking out the strongest enemy fighter. Kuroiri wsa less impressive than those two but still managed to outplay Class 1 at the beginning of the fight. The only real problem in match two is that they ened up causing way more collateral damage than heroes are supposed to.

I also have to disagree with te idea that Tokage is a bad physical fighter.
There's a reason Bakugo made sure to take her out while she was recharging.

That's what I was saying before; unless Class B wins the last match, this isn't really showing them as competent as Class A at all, and this last match just really reinforced that. Even if Class B manage to win the next match, it would still just end up being a tie overall. And there's really nobody on Class B that can handle Of A at all.
But I'm positive Deku's team will lose, because I get the feeling Hori wants Deku to still chase after Bakugo, so it makes sense for him to lose on that. But that's gonna be really aggravating.
Her attacks had literally no significant effect on Bakugo, and he looked more annoyed than anything. It was explicitly said her Quirk's strength is in it's observational and tactical application, and this chapter made it clear that she's not a frontline fighter, especially against someone like Bakugo.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I think with more precise targeting, she could do some damage with attacks like that - aim for this sensitive areas and what-not. It all depends on how much fine control she has.
I’d also like to point out that there are three people we haven’t seen in action yet, and Monoma can copy any of them - it’s possible at least one of them would be able to give Deku trouble. And of course, there’s Shinso...

Oh God! Natural light!I have to agree on that statement.
It was a reason they put up Kamakiri (Blade Master Mantis) as the main fighter and not her after all...
That aside, I can see her use fingers to poke people's eyes out by flinging them like darts, all things considered. Little, but still serious as a injury towards someone's person.
Not to mention a flying mouth full of sharpened teeth, fit to tear a chunk out of someone's wrist or throat out if she ever would need it in a life-or-death situation.
(I know she's a hero and those tactics are villainous to say the least, but still, she's not completely defenseless.)

Deku is straight up stronger and faster than anybody unless Monoma manages to copy him and even then, Monoma runs the risk of destroying his body. Deku is already aware on how Shinsou's quirk works and can take measures to avoid that, and even in the event that he gets caught, the vestiges can just bail him out like last time.
Class B are at a straight up disadvantage and will likely need to get desperate to win.
There's no such thing as an unfair advantage when in a life-or-death battle. Aizawa pointed out that they can't expect villains to play fair and that they should be able to handle disadvantageous situations no matter who they fight.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.So anyone else who thinks that the team leader of the last fight in Class-B will be Monoma?
If so, I really hope we get to see the Monoma we first saw at the Sport Festival.
The cunning strategist (albeit a bit smug) using the powers he got in his disposal to guide his team (Since lunacy aside, he does have a straight 5/5 in both intelligence and Technique as part of his character traits.)... and he will do everything in his power to lead team B to glory in battle against...
...Oh who am I kidding?
He's going to be the front team fighter of the team, isn't he? (Since he also have a 4/5 grade in terms of Cooperativeness as well. Not to mention he might get power from his ire and desire of one-upping Class-A in a straight fight.)
Who knows, he might actually be a pretty good team player when taking orders rather than giving them.
He might turn out to be the team's secret trump card, all things considered... Maybe even reach Beware the Silly Ones status as a fighter.

I feel Monoma will have a plan that works perfectly until he decides to gloat and he somehow messes up
Perfect ending
Uni catHe gloats a lot, but we haven’t seen him in a straight fight for awhile. He might shape up for something like that.
Anyway, yes, Deku has the advantage in speed and strength, but I think it’s a mistake to treat it that as the sole deciding factor. We have little idea of what two of B’s Quirks can do - they might be able to inhibit him somehow.
Oh God! Natural light!

So I'm guessing dekus team is gonna lose making it a total tie
