That's a pretty rude thing to say. It's subjective how well these characters are used, and I can definitely see where Gilver is coming from even though I wouldn't agree.
I do think these fights have been pretty poorly balanced if it's meant to show both sides being good.

I feel like the point is that the classes are stronger in different areas, and that for a situation like this, Class B is in fact better. That's basically what Aizawa said in this chapter.
Anyway, as much as I don't agree that class B has been wasted or underutilized (minor characters being minor is how it's supposed to be), I'd also disagree even more that they should just be used to make Class A look good.
Because "cool moments" like that are usually hollow. For something to really be cool, it's best to be used against competent opponents. And by nature of that competence you should also expect that the opponents might still put up resistance.
I can totally see how Tokoyami's, Iida's, and Shoto's new techniques/working on their powers will help them later. That they didn't blitz the opposition doesn't devalue any of that.

Hey, if this means we get to see 1-A learn better group battle tactics, I'm all for it.
Oh God! Natural light!I’ve read an analysis that states that Class-B (barring Tetsux 4) is good at planning ahead while Class-A is better at improvising or winging it.
It’s why Bakugo straight up lead them into the heat of the frying pan. Face them head on & then come up with a strategy in the heat of the moment.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Something of note for this chapter is that the way Setsuna's Quirk work seems to be a more intricate way of flight, with the added bonus of making dodging much easier.
To go back to the Buggy comparison, Buggy can't "really" fly because he has to keep his feet (or maybe just part of himself) planted and can only go a certain distance away from them.
If she doesn't have that limitation, and it doesn't seem like she does, that's pretty cool.
In that Iida rescues Ojiro from a pitfall by throwing him to safety while he himself gets caught by it

Bewitching EyesI can kind of understand the criticisms of this arc, even if I don't agree; we're effectively focusing on characters who, in the grand scheme of things, ultimately do not matter. That's not saying they aren't likable, or that they their presence is wasted, but that their characters are likely not going to factor into future arcs going forward without dividing even more focus.
Its kind of like the Conservation of Ninjutsu applied to narrative, the more spread your focus is, the harder is for your audience to keep track of who they should care about.
That's not to say that the entire series just needs to focus on Deku, Bakugo, or Todoroki out of all of Class A, but at the same time, I don't feel like we need to see everyone in Class A or B expanded on as well.
I notice this was a similar criticism of the provisional license exam too when it was airing just a few months ago. The low stakes and focus on lesser characters, while not terrible, was generally lukewarm compared to the entirety of the first half of the season.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. But anyway, I still think Bakugo's team is going to win this. Vlad and Monoma's gloating at the beginning pretty much cinched that for me.
Round 5 is more likely to be a tie now, I think. So two ties, two wins for Class A, and one for Class B.
With that line up neither Class was truly overwhelmed but B still looks good, and A gets to look at things how they can improve and individuals and, maybe more importantly, as a group.
I can understand that, and agree with some parts of it.

I feel like a tie would kind of undermine that tbh, because it ultimately means the entire thing ends in a stalemate. I would prefer for Class A to have a definitive win. You can have that and still show Class B as competent, which is the main point here.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Eh, I don't think that's really bad. I don't think either side is supposed to be overall better than the other now, just that they have different strengths and weaknesses.
And this whole thing can help them all see what those are as individuals, and as groups.

Class B's entire beef with Class A is that they feel overshadowed, and as we can see, its not just Monoma being crazy, the whole class feels like they have something to prove. That right there shows they seem themselves as inferior to class A.
If the whole thing was to just say "Oh, they're equals", then it defeats the entire point of their rivalry.
Yea. If A wins this, then it would be 2 win for Class A, 1 win for Class B, and 2 ties. Class A still comes out ahead.
So in order for this to be a "tie", B has to win this match or the next.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Anyway, here are some speculations regarding the final fight. I believe that we'll have Uraraka fighting mind-controlled Deku. This is based on the two assumptions that the OFA vestiges that result from Shinso mind-controlling Deku are too important and too foreshadowed to not come up, and that Ochako fighting Deku has more narrative weight than Mineta or Mina fighting Deku due to her personal baggage regarding him. It's possible that Deku has to choose between learning some great secret about the origin of OFA or helping his team, or that learning said secret is what shocks him back to consciousness. A likely way for Class A to lose is for Deku to be too distracted by the upcoming reveal to help out his team. A likely way for them to win is that Monoma copies One For All but gets its original form before it stored up any power, which would alert everyone in both classes that something is up with Deku's quirk.

Did you miss the part where Iida had to come in and save Todoroki? It really does seem like you're equating "not curbstomping everyone" with "getting shafted".
There are some characters I wish had gotten to do more in their respective rounds, but your metric doesn't seem reasonable when discussing if a character was treated poorly or not.
