x4 No, none of them consistently topped their polls. Luffy does, but he's an anomaly. Gon has famously not won a single one.

People have really loved Bakugous arc. Its been consistent with each poll as he is more and more fleshed out. Deku made first in the first poll before that started.

Killua has if I recall right, and Togashis been more than happy to switch the protag role based on the arc. Killua, Kurapika, Gon have all been a major center. So it works out.

Ironically Asta from Black Clover has topped the 2 polls his manga has at the moment.

Then again those polls also have what is basically an incestous pedophile & an abusive classist bigot in the in their top tens so clearly something’s up there.

Well, I'd say it helps that Killua is by far the most interesting of the "main" four.

Goku's topped all the polls since DB ended, but when it was ongoing he lost to Gohan.

Ichigo consistently topped the earlier polls, and I only remember the later polls for DB but Gohan topped during the CG-early Boo arc and Goku topped after that.

But yeah it's pretty common for the MC to be high up but not the top

Ah.

And once again, poor Gohan.

I recall that Naruto was beaten out by Deidara & he’s not even a main antagonist.

And Endeavor got so high because we had an arc that delved into him trying to be a better person, and a better father. With bumpy hits in the road along the way.

Beast Jeanist is weird though, but I suppose People respected him giving it his all against AFO and saving the other heroes.

Well that's Naruto. That's fine by me. Deidara is better than him. I was just wondering if there was a pattern.

And of course Goku beats Gohan. The Buu Arc was totally about how Goku was better than everybody and these chumps were just getting in his way. Very consistent and clear message all through the arc.

Boruto's Dad polls

Naruto lost his first poll to Kakashi (rare for an MC) but has done pretty well and topped some of the later ones as well.

Bleach polls

Ichigo won the first three and came third in the fourth poll, which was the last character poll. The 5th poll was Zapakuto but had the same top 3 as the character polls.

The last poll was best fights and the top 3 was 4 of Ichigo's fights.

Honestly what’s really offensive is the fact Rancid Sauce ranked so high, even in his worst moments.

I personally have never really given these sort of polls much attention.

I think they're fun to look at, but I don't think they say much about popularity overall.

And with someone like Bakugo, while he often gets voted most popular, I wouldn't be surprised if he was really high up on a "most hated" vote too.

Or maybe that's why he's popular. Love to Hate, I guess.

The top ones do give you a understanding of the most popular at least. Though the rest tend to be easily changeable sans exceptions like Kirishima.

Others in the top ten are easily replacable otherwise.

Bakugou hate is more of a west thing.

Also Jeanist’s ranking is most likely based on the anime showcasing his Heroic Sacrifice which we can all assume resonated with a good deal of people.

Just like Sasuke hate. Actually, there's a lot of parallels between this series' popularity results and Naruto's, between that and the main heroine in freefall.

I'm the guy who likes Fairy Tail and it's actually kinda hard (at least with one minute of Google searching) to find FT polls and that's surprising. I'm sure they exist but FT Wiki didn't have a whole page dedicated to them it seems. I found one and it had Lucy and Natsu in #1 and #2 respectively so that makes sense. Lucy is kinda the co-lead anyway. Almost had an Inuyasha/Kagome thing going. Of course this was also an extremely early poll, FT Wiki tweeted about it in 2014, so who knows what came after.

I find it kind of funny that the first lizard themed person we're finding out about isn't Spinner.

At this point I feel like the options are between his Quirk having absolutely nothing to do with him looking like a lizard, or his appearance is all there is to it, and he's functionally Quirkless.

Nope, that monstrosity was just tapped and strapped together. Attention was called to the fact that he didn't actually use his Quirk during that fight.

Uraraka, the main heroine, didn't even make into the top 10. I'm starting to think if Horikoshi struggles to put her power into exciting actions.

She literally doesnt do anything, her not being in the top 10 makes complete sense because Hori never bothered to expand her character at all.

Seriously, just a minor curiosity of mine. I barely watch or read new anime so MHA is my first new series in forever. I'm still coming off Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail and One Piece. The first three are not terribly popular on forums like this, whatever their popularity out in the real world. Even OP has fallen from grace since the timeskip.

So MHA was interesting in its universal praise so far as I had seen up to this point anyway. Of course, I'm new to the fandom so I was "outside looking in" and from the outside maybe it looked more united in its love for MHA than it was in reality. Sorta like how Mass Effect 2 is the best game ever until you become part of the ME fandom and meet those strange souls who actually dislike it.

I got no problem with Uraraka though. Then again, I didn't hate Sakura either. Sakura got taht one pretty badeass fight though so maybe Uraraka will too?
