Well if you got an OP ability, why do you need CQC...
In any case, this was inevitable given shonen character fanbases, so people being dumb doesnt surprise me.
Shouto literally almost boiled Tetsu alive if he wasn't stopped and had to be knocked out before he burned down the battlefield. That says it all really.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Endeavor seems good for both close and long range fighting. Maybe that's something he could help him with during his inevitable internship.
I imagine Shoto's close-range fighting will come back up when he learns to use both sides simultaneously without it hindering his movements.
But for this situation, it was a bad match up, and he still probably would have won. I don't see why that should be an issue.
And then there’s me, who’s actually kind of glad that Shoto got the shit kicked out of him a little - I really don’t like when a character (or at least protagonists - minor characters can get away with more often) is treated like them winning is a foregone conclusion. I like Shoto and I enjoy seeing him kick ass, but it’d be boring if nobody could give him a fight.
I’d actually like it if by, say, third year, some members of Class A have taken a page out of Mirio’s book and drastically increased in skill to the point that it’s almost embarrassing to look at them earlier. Midoriya, of course, is the obvious one, but I’d love to see other characters reach those heights. I’m not saying that they’d need to go toe-to-toe with Bakugo and Todoroki (though I wouldn’t mind seeing that), but I think it would be interesting if by third year, you could say that a good number of Class A student would be able to win against Year One Bakugo if they faced him as with all the skills they had accumulated by that point.
Speaking of Bakugo, I wonder who will be his primary opponent? Going by the arrangements on the first line-up, I’m guessing it’s Kamakiri, maybe?

Oh God! Natural light! But he wasn't resisting just from pure willpower. He specifically built up his tolerance to extreme temperatures as a part of improving his Quirk.
Anyway, I feel like a lot of people are stuck on the Sports Festival, even though those situations were, well, different, and other characters are allowed to improve.

It's mostly because of how Shonen hierarchy works; the main characters are almost always the top in terms of power levels, which tends to bother fans of the secondary characters if reading anything Dragon Ball related hasn't tipped you off.
So anytime the "powerful" characters get shown up by the "lesser" characters is generally welcomed in a fanbase regardless of any circumstances surrounding it.

Honestly, with the right support items, Uraraka could be incredibly powerful. Toss a carbon-fiber net or something into the air and you have a ready-made trap. Similarly, if Momo focuses more on expanding her the types of items she can make, she could be similarly powerful. Right now she seems to be emphasizing her ability in terms of volume, when in reality it would probably be more helpful to learn to create more types of items. We already know she can make stuff like flashbangs, so creating other similar types of devices could give her a ridiculous versatility.
I'm not really sure what you're trying to get there with Ochaco honestly.
As for Momo, I feel like her focus is mostly on making more, because she already understands how to make so much. That and I think it's implied she already spends a lot of her time researching new things.

What I mean is that she tends to limit the use of her gravity-cancelling abilities to herself and whatever debris happens to be around. If she stocked up on a few support items explicitly meant to drop on people, she'd have a much wider variety of strategies available than just relying purely on whatever happens to be lying around.
Momo does know how to a make a lot of useful items, but I think she could come up with more strategic uses for them. Like the flashbang that she used against Aizawa would probably have been helpful in the training matches or something along those lines. Like, if she had started the match off by simply giving all of her team gas masks and then launching a bunch of tear gas canisters, things would probably have gone very differently.

Reaction Image RepositoryYeah, that would be the weak spot. But once she has greater control over her motion (and the ability to not barf when holding the power for more than a minute or two), she'd actually be deceptively powerful. Especially because she could basically immobilize any opponent who didn't have some form of propulsion.
Reaction Image RepositoryA propulsion system would be a great idea. Since she needs to be able to touch things to affect them, being able to close a gap quickly is important, and any extra maneuverability she can get would be a huge advantage.
Seriously, get her some rocket boots or something. It even fits her space aesthetic.

Thinking about Round 4, just from positioning and design I'd say that Togaru will be the main fighter/Bakugo's opponent.
Though, I also wouldn't rule out shenanigans like Yosetsu using his Quirk to make some of Team A stick together and they have to deal with that somehow.
Can't really say anything about Setsuna or Kojiro since we don't know much about them, but I doubt Kojiro at least will get much focus. Maybe him and Sato will fight as the respective big guys of their groups (though Togaru is also almost as big so, eh).
If we're talking support items, I'd like to see Jiro get some more cool stuff - sort of like weapons that she can "charge" with sound via her Earphone Jacks, maybe? I don't know how much you could theoretically do with sound, but I think it'd be really cool to use a somewhat weak Quirk as a base for some potentially devastating techniques.

If she figures out a way to identify the resonance frequencies of certain materials she could probably greatly improve her damage output, or otherwise allow her to target certain things while leaving others unharmed. She wouldn't be able to make foes crap themselves, though:
Speaking of which, there really has to be a more convenient database than that.
Oh God! Natural light!I'm really curious about Shouji too. He's so worried about scaring people. But in the world of BNHA, his appearance doesn't stand out as being incredibly strange.
That, and his weird ascetic lifestyle. It almost seems like he's got some sort of extra baggage going on, that goes past his appearance.

Yeah, I remember reading about that Shouji thing before. Any guesses about what his backstory might be? All I can think of is stuff like reformed delinquent or villain parents. But that seems a little too out there.
(The Sero part is interesting though. I wonder whether it'll actually happen. Hori said he wanted to expand on him more, but in the same breath also says he was pretty solidly a background character.)

Also it's been pointed out for the fourth or fifth time that Shouto is poor in close combat and he'll probably do nothing about it once again.
It took Uraraka all of one fight to figure out she needed martial art training, what's it gonna take for him to get the lesson?
