So the guy who composes for Tekken does the soundtrack. I like it. I don't what the keening voices are but it fits.
I can't help but be endeared by how friendly and good-nature the girls are.
I on the other hand think they are pretty big assholes
they're well-intentioned assholes sure but lots of people are
I mean seriously they give no shits about any protests whatsoever
and it isn't even like they're tolerating her abrasive behavior so much as outright ignoring that even happening
of course since she is a tsundere all of this actually works out fine
but yeah
MMORPGs are serious business.I'm kinda assuming since Karin got the death card....she'll be fine.
I'm back to worrying about prez and her sis. I just can't see this show going without someone getting it.
It's been a while since I've done Tarot, but here's a more detailed breakdown.
The three-card spread for Karin was Devil/Tower/Death. Three card spreads can have a variety of meanings, since there's no hard-and-fast as to what each of the positions mean, but the two general breakdowns are problem readings (asking with response to a specific thing) and status readings (asking about the general state of the person). Devil represents ambition and desire. Tower represents calamity and, more specifically, disillusionment—the discovery that the world is not as you thought it was. Death represents endings and changes, but rarely literal death.
If it's a problem reading, then the first two cards describe the problem, while the third is advice. Devil/Tower suggests that Karin's desires and drives will lead her into trouble, and that she's about to discover that she's wrong about something very important. The advice she's given, therefore, is to accept that she's wrong and change.
If it's a status reading, then the three cards can represent body/mind/soul, but the order depends on who's doing the reading. No information there. Another general formulation has the first card represent the object of the reading, the second card represent the way they're currently headed, and the third card represents an alternative. She's Devil (ambition and drive), is currently headed towards Tower (calamity and disillusionment), but she could instead head towards Death (end her current way of doing things and change).
The thing about fortune telling is that you get no idea of what the actual timeframe is. For example, both of the readings above could easily encompass her arc in this episode alone. And since Death represents the end of the current way and any lasting change that follows it, pulling Death in the third position doesn't actually tell you that much.
And that's why fortune-telling is neat but kind of useless!
I understood it as a problem reading. Or at least, that's how it made sense to me just looking at it. However, it's also not quite what I would expect since they balked at the Death card (showing a lack of understanding), which in my experience is the least problematic of the three, going just by how they're usually read.
Check out my fanfiction!Okay, now we get an episode about Itsuki and her struggles. But with this, the breather is over and now we get serious attacks bu the vertexes. And Karin still isn't in the opening.
Fourth episode!
- Singing in front of class, oh hellll no. Only like two people in the class would actually be into that IRL, the rest would be experiencing extreme stress.
- Aww, those are definitely good rules for adopting cats.
- They get graded on how well they can sing? That's pretty intense.
- Togo is best patriot. And girl. P.s. I like the rubber band snap sound effect that's going on when they cut to the end of a song. It's really clever.
- Getting catty in the restroom.
- It's been a really long while since you've walked home, Togo-chan! ...That was terrible and I'm very sorry.
- Well it's probably a good thing she threw up all those pills and olive oil...thanks for the warning captions, I will not try that at home because you said so.
- Well, that's a terrible backstory. Also, as we know, child services do not exist in anime.
- Cute ED this time.
- That Death card really wants Senpai to notice it.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Apparently Japanese orphanages are hellish. It's probably better for them to live on their own.
We got some a bit of worldbuilding stuff this episode. A virus that wiped out most of the population and they reset the date or something. I think from the description this takes place in the year 300?
Itsuki's focus episode... doesn't focus on her much. I swear Fuu got more development
The jokes have gotten a lot better
Karin still isn't in the OP. Worrying
I just noticed that the phone display on the Jukai opening is "FORESTIZE WARNING". Also worrying
That flashback. I assume the creepy masked people are agents of Taisha
Pretty certain Takahiro know what Death means and it's just Itsuki that's ignorant about her hobby
Fuu is going to die next episode
Throughout the ep I was thinking c'mon, someone lose their head already!.
...yeah, Madoka has ruined anime for me forever.
You know, I really don't see the Madoka comparisons. Yeah it's similar aesthetically, but the themes and tone don't really match up. People are expecting it to be dark, but I'm not feeling it. Madoka was obviously going to be dark in the first episode. There's potential for it to get grim fast, but it feels like the show is heading in a different direction. Though if someone must die, I say it's one of the sisters. Fu in order to scatter them, and Itsuki for maximum angst while not losing anything important. Togo is the best part, so I don't see her dying any time soon. The primary reason I could see it going dark is how tight they've been on spoilers.
As for episode 4, development stuff. Feels like the slice of life stuff people thought it was going to be. Togo is best singer. Fu gets interesting stuff. Death is trying to send a message. Or is lonely.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.Fuu spent the episode collecting death flags the way your crazy aunt collects novelty plates
Shit is stressful.
I really do not want this to go down Madoka's path. Let it be its own thing, dawg.
pls, no deaths ;_;
It's Akame Ga Kill writer supposedly.
I'm surprised no one has died yet. The someone off-beat humor is there, but I think it works here.
Yuki reminds me of Hibiki.
I think Isuki is a misfortune teller she always draws death and has been wrong.....so far

Episode 4. In which there's a chicken.
Air applause.
That's actually a polite laughter for having the book upside down. You know, the kind of laughter you'd actually expect in a real situation.
If this is what the episode is going to be about, it's going to be rather dull. Or at least, that part of it.
I think big sis should just record little sis while she's singing in the shower. Or bath. Easiest solution.
She needs to ask what she's eating? I mean, other than as a refresher to the audience? Also, weird snacks is a thing. Some people have different tastes than others. And some do it just because it's supposedly healthy. Although she actually seems to like them, since she's snacking on them casually like that.
To be fair, youkai can look like regular cats.
Again with Death as the bad card? Shouldn't that mean the end of her bad singing and the start of actually singing like a person? She's as bad at Tarot as she is at singing.
She called her chicken.
I think some booze would help.
Dying to be healthy... Isn't dying traditionally kind of not healthy?
She called her chicken.
And then she magically got over herself.
As expected. Rather dull episode.
Check out my fanfiction!Episode 4:
- Stage fright. I know that feeling.
- The Hero Club's quite popular.
- Death's quite popular. Or attention grabbing.
- Fu's quite good. Duets can be good too. Itsuki's really hit with the nerves. And Togo commands respect!
- Itsuki's familiar, upon a better look, reminds me of Petilil.
- Don't worry, Fu. Itsuki never once regretted seizing the chance to stand by your side.
- Now she can sing to her heart's content. It was because everyone was a pumpkin, I'm sure.
- Death really wants to be noticed... Five times it appeared. And there are five heroes. The latest Vertex invasion is most definitely Hard Mode.
- So their parents were victims of a Vertex's aftereffects. ...Which reminds me; it seems as though the Vertex onslaught is never-ending. Like, they come in groups of 12 every time or something?

Actually, shit I forgot about that history lesson in which they mentioned some virus that swept the globe.
And having the students bow to the Shinju deity.
I concur. It's (unusually) easy to miss world-building details in this show. For instance, I never made the connection that Togo was one of the heroes involved in the past, who attempted to hold off the vertexes and left her as the sole survivor with broken legs (which, left me wondering why she was so scared when the first depicted vertex struck). Or said details you mentioned.
Wait, what? Togo was a hero? Never got that impression.
Yeah, when did we learn this?
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.The "Togo was a hero before" is probably because there's a prequel LN scheduled. Out of the three characters we've seen◊, the one at the top, Washio Sumi, is a dead ringer for Togo—same hair, similar eyes (more of a turquoise to Togo's green), same color scheme as a hero, though she's younger and she uses a bow instead of Togo's guns.
While the similarity is striking, I don't recall anything in the show that'd suggest it's more than a coincidence
The bottom chick's weapons are fucking ridiculous.
Time to become a Hero! The Character page is up now.
