Like I've said before, the lack of real female representation as far as importance goes is probably Parasyte's single biggest weakness. Or maybe I should say it makes it feel dated? Dunno.
Still, I really liked this episode, and am very hyped for the next. If I'm right the episode after next should cover this arc's culmination, which is also the best moment in Parasyte as a whole! My anticipations are high for it.

Well, there is Tamura Reiko... Although pretty much everyone human is basically there to be killed or to get Shinichi to protect them.
I liked the way he dealt with his dad for a change. I also liked Migi just jumping right into "I'm not human, blah, blah, blah". He knows Shinichi pretty well by this point doesn't he?
Is Miki all parasyte? Kinda feels like it.
I'm betting on Tamura.
Lets see if Detective Death-Flag does anything useful at all.
But, yeah, this was a good episode.
So apparently, he's called Miki because he's ALSO a right hand. Or something. :P Interesting trick with the transformation to digitigrade mode for running. So beating him would probably come down to "How much damage can I do to him, to the point that he loses more blood than is reasonably within range for recovery?"
Five parasites on one body, with two of them capable of taking control, is overkill. Sweet, sweet overkill that I look forward to seeing in the future. The humans better start firing up the heavy artillery.
And Murano needs to get the hell away from that house.
This signature used to support spoiler tags.I got the damned battle theme stuck in my head:
It's really got that sense of fear and fight or flee oppressive atmosphere at first.
Then it starts sounding like a videogame, maybe something like Touhou.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Ah yes, back to the group dynamics and actual theme exploration. Parasyte's back at its finest, which more than compensates for its... interesting musical choices and lack of women. (Which I give a pass, given how it's based on a 20 year old manga).
I like it. It's... weird. Listening to it with my hi-fi headphones, I pick up some sound effects on the background that gives it some creepy vibes under the uplifting overtones. Plus, it's a battle theme, so of course after the initial fight-or-flee vibe, it picks fight. It's also not as catchy as the chillin' out music and its weird synths.

Oh good, the episode stopped right where I thought it would. My hype for the next episode is at maximum capacity.
As for this one... Lots of still shots here and there, despite the awesome fight with Reiko. In the manga the main body ran around in front of many more people
◊, and the fight's setting didn't directly involve a construction site. Madhouse's trying to preserve the budget, but I can't really blame them for that.
Episode 17: In which holy carp Tamura is awesome.
Not to mention hilarious. At least half of her is.
Murano...take it easy.
That's not babysitting, that's called being a dad!
Whoa, whoa, don't do that, you just said yourself it's a human baby!
Sherlock Holmes-san... ![]()

Another "cheerful" episode.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Tamura is the most interesting character around now that Shinichi is in his boring robot mode. The only emotion he seems to show is hate for other parasites, which is a shame, he could at least express strong positive emotions too. The way he reacts to Migi's quirks are sometimes weird too, I totally expect him to always be in '...whatever' Squall-like mode now, and then here and there when Migi tells something he reacts like pre-heart transplant Shinichi. It's odd.

I've said this before, but a lot of funny moments from the manga were not included in the anime. Like, Shinichi's relationship with Migi can be a lot more lighthearted at times, and he emotes a lot more. He exaggerates his feelings, he acts goofy, and generally acts like a normal teenager, even if he still carries around a lot of baggage with him. Like
◊ this
◊ sequence
◊ right
◊ here
◊, for instance
◊ (covering the chase scene from episode 15).
That said, even without those changes, I really think Tamura's one of the best characters in the whole series. Top three, easily.

Look at how frequently Shinichi is smiling in those manga pics. He gives a different impression compared to his anime counterpart.
I think the anime really shines when it focuses more on the parasites instead of the (former) love interests.
And Murano needs to get the hell away from that park.

Hmm... Really felt this should have been a more powerful moment. If there is one moment that shouldn't have been messed up by inappropriate soundtrack choices, it should have been this one. I wouldn't have gone with the ED for this super-important moment. And it basically is Parasyte's single biggest moment, absolutely mind-blowing and feels-inducing in the manga.
Well, I guess that's that. Welcome back, Shinichi.

As a non-manga reader, that scene actually managed to give me the chills. That entire standoff was a very powerful moment and such a great way to have Shinichi regain his humanity. What I think would have made it better was if they ended off an episode with that scene; they could've saved the stuff that happened afterwards for the next episode.
Really nice to have you back, Shinichi. And rest in peace, my favorite character.
This signature used to support spoiler tags.Tamura, you were the best...and also it took you so long to die. But it's still sad.
And then they did a montage of literally every sad moment in the series! That's...that's just fine.
Time for a new arc.
It's good that Shinichi caught up with his dad.
Anyway, this serial killer seems like a fun guy.
WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT OMG.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Wow, the Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass is strong in this one. The change of attitude was extremely creepy.
I will miss you Tamura-San. But you had a Dying Moment of Awesome full of dignity if there ever was one.
RIP one of the three actual characters in this show. At least you got the coolest lines. ;_;
I liked Shinichi's big moment – really nice tying up of themes.
Actually, the more I think about this episode, the more I like it, but it would've been more effective if it had ended with Shinichi "coming back". And christ I wish Murano was better, in every way. She's pretty awful.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

While I don't find Murano that interesting a character, I actually enjoy her dislike for Badass!Shinichi. It's refreshing. Usually, when the hero is a dork, he gets the girl when he starts finding some kind of inner strength - but here, he does not need to, she liked him the way he was/is again, and she has no interest in dating the Terminator.

Jeez Parasyte, if you stuff any more women into the fridge they'll start falling out.
