So, so great. The aesthetic and tone of the show, the subject matter of comparing mental health with the way mutants are treated, the somewhat offhand way superpowers are shown— dramatic, but not flashy— I like this about as much as I was expecting too, and I expect I'll like it more as we get into developments that weren't part of the trailer.

I like the Netflix shows a lot— they have great villains and I'm a big fan of Jessica— but this is really the kind of show I've been wanting them to make.

I really liked the final escape sequence. It felt like a war, just with superpowers. The way that one guy used his telekinesis smacked of a soldier—none of this pussy-footing around and knocking people to the ground, instead he hits them with a huge burst of power that throws them a couple hundred feet. Even in the unlikely event they survive, they are definitely neutralized for this battle.

Well holy shit, that was one hell of a pilot. Weird, creepy, unsettling, fascinating, funny, disturbing, exciting. It really ran the gamut. I love that it's often difficult to tell exactly what's real and what's not, and how, even when you know things aren't real, they seem so real it makes you wonder, and it in turn leads you to question things you're pretty sure are real. The Devil With Yellow Eyes was really creepy, and I'm very interested in seeing where that goes. The scene in the mental hospital after the body swap was probably the highlight of the episode. It was so creepy and disturbing. The doors being gone was disturbing, and then the shot of Lenny in the wall was horrifying. The characters are all really cool and interesting. Ptonomy and Kerry both look great. They're stylish and sexy and I loved them off the bat.

It's a fantastic first episode, and I am definitely interested in seeing where the series goes, because I have no idea, but I expect it to be fascinating.

Interesting, considering we already had a Blink in Days of Future Past. But I'm okay with that — DOFP took place in 2019, right? That should be around the present day for the show.

(Do not click if you're of a sensitive disposition.) Man, that devil with yellow eyes...

This is an amazing representation of mental illness. My favourite adaptation of the X-Men since Alphas, I'll say it.

Stephen Moyer joins Fox's X-Men project

He is playing someone named Reed.

We should probably create a new thread because now this thread is talking about two different shows: Legion (2017) and the upcoming untitled X-Men project.

Maybe we could leave this as the joint Legion and X-Men thread until the latter gets enough momentum to split off into its own thread? And we can rename this thread to include Legion in the title. "Fox's Legion and untitled X-Men series", maybe?

Holy shit, sign me up now. Amy Acker is awesome. Plus, now we have two canon mutants (Blink and Polaris), so that's cool.

I wonder if Polaris will be related to Magneto in this version?

Looking at all the possible titles of this show, do you think perhaps it will be called Exiles? I know the comic was about a multiversal team of X-Men, but the name fits this show quite well. (Plus: both Blink and a version of Polaris were in the Exiles.)

So with my tenuous grip on the reality of Legion:

The dog is another manifestation of the Shadow King, right?

[up] That's my guess. It was named King, after all.

Also, I'm a little confused with Cary and Kerry. Which one is the prime? Because the girl said that she was born, then the boy was born. But she spends all of her time hiding in his body, and later he mentions that he's worried about what will happen when he dies.

[up]Kerry uses Cary to do all the boring day to day stuff like eating and sleeping. Kerry thinks that is boring she prefers to fight.

Kerry said she was in the womb but when she left the womb Cary was the one that was born. She said her father left her mother because they expected a female native American but when they were born Cary was a white boy. Kerry said that she was around first and 9 months later Cary was born.

Okay, so Kerry is the original, so to speak. Cary isn't worried about her disappearing when he dies, he's worried about what she's going to do when she's forced to step outside her Crippling Overspecialization.

Title of the series revealed[1] and it looks like Joseph Morgan is part of the show.

Hmm. Gifted. Not bad. I expected something with an X in it, like Exiles, but this works, too. It's also the title of the first storyline for Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men.

Hmm. His first name was listed as Sam, though, even though the comics Thunderbirds were traditionally John Proudstar, his brother James (who now goes by Warparth), and Neal Shaara.

[up]That could have just been a place holder name when they cast him until they decided to reveal the actual name of the character.

That and there's enough instances of characters having names changed in adaptations that there's literally a trope devoted to it.
