Well, I updated my Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 last night, and... it's okay, I guess? Other than a hiccup while trying to install graphics drivers, upgrading went pretty smoothly. Don't like that startup takes a good bit longer on my machine than 7 did (almost a minute for everything to catch up), plus there's all the potential privacy concerns regarding Microsoft's new EULA for using 10. Still, it's an improvement over 8/8.1, and I think stuff like TF2 runs a bit better than on 7, but I'd still rather be using Linux anyway.
I actually like using the new Windows apps. They're pretty fast, neat, and Jesus Christ... Edge is bloody amazing. I'm running seven text-heavy tabs and one You Tube video. Total RAM usage according to Task Manager: 27.8 MB. I ran the same tabs in Chrome (without extensions). Total RAM usage: 634.2 MB. Holy shit, Microsoft.
Although, the People app is worse in Windows 10 than in Windows 8.1, because, for some reason, there are no more options to connect my social networks to them like I can on my Windows Phone. That's pretty annoying.
Also, all the bugs I experiences yesterday are gone. My PC's boot-time has decreased by about 30 seconds.
In addition, Cortana on PC is just a tad better than on my Windows Phone.

Do you still have wireless access, or just wired? Could be a driver issue with your network card. Also, go into the networking control panel and see if there's something you need to check off. (Disclaimer: I haven't updated yet so I cannot help you directly.)
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Regarding the freemium Solitaire and paid-for Media Player replacement, as long as you can install 3rd party programs you can tell MS to go [fornicate] itself.
I really can't see how they expect to get much money from their making what were formerly basic functionality available for free (Solitaire goes back to like Win 1.0 for crying out loud
) into for-pay programs.
But then again I'm not exactly a complete ignoramus about computers, which is not something that can be said of all computer users.
I'm still waiting for my turn in queue. Weird. Seems to be taking a while.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, they give an option for a media downloader thing that will let you download a DVD ISO or save it to a thumb drive, as long as there's 3GB of room available. Used that instead of farting around with that stupid notifier in the system tray, having it come into background focus at odd times (usually in the middle of issuing a command in the window I'm using at the time
).
Might also want to check your update history, it might have had the download fail and give an error, in which case you have to delete the contents of C:\Windows\Software Distribution\Download
So Windows 10 is live on my laptop, and seems to be working pretty well thus far.
Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.Does the update reformat your hard drive, or are my files safe?
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

Apparently, it was Freemium in 8.1, but was an optional download instead of part of the core installation. I haven't played that suite in ages, so the most emotion I can muster about it is a kind of vague disappointment.
I wonder if all the Win10 downloads were creating, in effect, a massive DDoS on the Internet as a whole yesterday, because I had a lot of issues. Then again, my home internet sucks...
