Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

Saw this last night. Absolutely brilliant. Kind of bummed I missed out on the Kickstarter for the prequel, although I doubt my small contribution would have helped much. You would also think that, if Slashers are as common as they make them out to be, there'd be a standing policy to ensure the death of any bodies rather than just carting them off to the morgue.

How the Hell do you make a prequel to something that was already a Start of Darkness?

I suspect they would be exploring what he did as Leslie Mancuso. One of the Extended scenes had him discussing his "work in Texas" helping a friend (possibly referring to Leatherface) and Dr. Halloran dates back from those times, suggesting that Leslie was involved in something crazy back then (although probably not having been tied to the crimes given he was apparently able to file a restraining order). Also, how did he get to know Eugene?

[up][up][up] Perhaps Behind the Mask takes place in an Unmasqued World and slashers are being used as government agents in exchange for being allowed to live (à la Suicide Squad).

Just saw this movie for the first time.

Depressing it didn't get a sequel.
