We Hunted The Mammoth has 10 yeas and 3 nays, and I think it's been stable lately. Since it's been up for a while, is it safe to call?

Sure, let's call Mammoth in favor of cut.

Edit: As as aside, what about the fate of WebOriginal.Mister Metokur? He's an internet personality who runs similarly to Mammoth. We could take this to another thread if needed.

The page creator has messaged me asking about that.

Iíd say no, partly because I am the page creator and that would suck for me if it was gone, but mostly because Metokurís an Internet personality, not a website like We Hunted The Mammoth. Heís basically an edgier Amazing Atheist and no one has a problem with him having his page. Edit: I would also like to point out that Internet Historian and Down the Rabbit Hole also post similar kinds of content to Metokur and they have their pages here.

[up][up] That vlog appears to cover real life topics. We explicitly prohibit tropes about such things, especially when they are one RL person's judgment of another RL person. If that YouTuber were creating fictional content, and presenting real people in certain ways in that content, it would be tropable. As it stands, the article strongly violates our policies and should be cut.

At a minimum, all trope examples describing their opinions and treatment of RL topics should be removed, leaving only tropes about their presentation and techniques.

Other items still up for consideration:

  • Super Mario Wiki: No tropable content
  • Bulbagarden: No tropable content; some examples appear to be shoehorned to prevent the article from being cut as a stub.
  • Down the Rabbit Hole: Mainly about RL content. Appears to be documentary and not opinion-based, so can retain tropes about production and narrative.
  • Dr Nerdlove: Currently at 3-3. Are people just fans of sex vlogs? The page has only 4 examples and none of them are relevant.
  • Trollpasta Wiki: Currently at 6-2.

Gee thanks guys, really appreciate it [tup]

Well since Iíd rather NOT have you cut my page I went back and took out the tropes ďpassing judgment and opinions on people in RLĒ (whatever that means) from the Main and YMMV page and just left the tropes about himself and his production methods in the hopes itíll appease Fighteer. Probably not, but worth a shot at least.

[up] "Appease Fighteer" sounds a bit passive-aggressive. This is about our site policies. You don't get a pass on them because you "put in a lot of effort". Going down the list...

  • Alliterative Family and Alliterative Name seem thrown in just to fill out the trope list. I suppose they are technically accurate, but provide no useful information. (Not your fault, necessarily: I've had this objection to these tropes for a long time.)
  • Asian Gal with White Guy: This discusses the creator as a real person and is not permitted.
  • Berserk Button: Real people don't have berserk buttons; it's a fictional trope. If this person crafts a fictionalized online persona who has a berserk button, that's one thing but there's no indication in the examples. That aside, the examples call out specific real people, which is exactly what I said they cannot do.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Provides no details, violating our rule about general examples. Citing specifics would violate our rules, as above. This is also a blatant shoehorn, unless this guy physically attacks people who insult him or has immense social/legal power against them.
  • Can't Take Criticism: Again, calls out other people in a negative way.

I could go on, but we're batting 0 so far. This article is blatantly applauding the creator. I'm not saying that I wouldn't agree with his opinions were I to watch his content, but that it is inappropriate for a TV Tropes article.

I removed those tropes as well though I realize that maintaining the page is going to be an extremely uphill battle and Iíll likely have to gut everything to where itís practically a skeleton of itself and maintaining it isnít fun anymore.

[up]I removed some additional examples from that page that are clearly calling out or mentioning other people, or are about him as a person. The Good Cop/Bad Cop examples don't make it clear if they are about real interviews or scripted content. If the former, they should be removed as well. I also commented some zero-context ones.

There are enough examples about his style and mannerisms for the article to be viable, if we decide to keep it at all.

Twitter seems to be all about troping Real Life. Most examples are "if you use Twitter, this trope might happen to you".

Similar story for AlternateHistory.com. While I that suspect some of tropes are justified, everything else is just about troping the people who use the forum (which became an even more apparent issue after one user added tropes with complaining about the local moderation).

It is useful to have the page for the website, since it hosts a lot of works presented on TV Tropes, but I am not very confident about how to deal with the list of tropes.

[up] That site is for creative writing, so there should be some tropable material. If we removed the tropes that only describe the site's users, the remainder would be keepable. I removed a bunch of tropes that seem to be about the users, but there are a few I'm not so sure about.

After a closer examination of Pixiv, the main description is quite informative, too much for it to go to waste. Might be salvageable if we get rid of the links or turn into the Useful Notes. Or something like DeviantArt.

And it has merits on be mainly focused around fictional works rather than sites focused on Real Life which has the potential to weasel in examples that would violate No Real Life Examples, Please! in any other situation (like historical figures being labeled as Complete Monster under the technicality of being documented by the work)... or bring Internet drama and frame them as tropes.

[up]According to its history, Pixiv's entry has been closed for a while. For some reason, when the "Bibble Bobble" text was removed, the strikethrough markup was removed as well.

If it matters, strikethrough markup is why most closed entries are invisible, and why "(CLOSED)" has to be added to options in this thread and the Real Life cleanup thread instead of the traditional strikethrough markup.

Cult of Dusty was brought up on the Real Life People Cleanup Project a while ago, and the entire page is about troping Dusty as a person. His entire YouTube channel appears to just be him talking about real life politics, so there isn't any tropable material.

I know it's too late, but I just now learned that the We Hunted the Mammoth page is gone and I just wanted to say that IMHO, we should have kept it.

P.S. You know what would be helpful in situations like this? If a work page is threatened with deletion, maybe that should be noted on the page itself for the benefit of tropers like me who didn't visit the forums as often as we should.

Trollpasta and Twitter look to have a 2:1 ratio each. Let's see if they hold for a few more days.

Dusty needs another vote or so; ratio's at 3.5:1.

Should Tumblr be updated? Most of the stuff are no longer relevant after the porn ban, and one commenter on the Discussion section said that fandom from TV shows seemed to have quieted down after the Dashcon incident, so I've read.
