Awesome, I'll keep this in mind... I'll let you decide exactly where Zia's place is, I suppose - I honestly don't have too clear an idea.

... Wow, Lt. B Gob's character is really similar to the one I had in mind. xD

Different races and backstories and stuff, but both women with medicinal skill living out in the wilderness.

Yay, great going. Now I should come up with a new idea. xD

Though I have a handful, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue if we don't want two characters with very similar skills. :P

Well, if you're dead keen on that character we can have two healers unless you or Kkutwar have any issues.

Diversity would be preferred, yes, but people tend to have similar elements after all. Though that is rather uncanny both of you were going for the same general thing. Besides that, the Mysterian Serial Killer sub-plot is one of my favorites for this so I could use someone making a character that works for the Mysterian Guard. Someone playing a Doppelganger would also be pretty fun (they can't replicate magical skills/powers though). In general I can work with pretty much any character and any starting location.

It could make for some interesting RP if they were the same character and find that out when running into eachother. Just look at all the Twin Tropes. smile

As far as my plans go, I just was inspired to make a character after reading the background and figure I'll go with whatever happens in the RP.

Some questions: What's the purpose of the gods' yearly meeting? Can divine power be stolen by mortals or other gods? Are Divine Servants another name for Gods' Champions, or are they different things? Are farms small, mechanized, or magically enhanced? Or do farmers get a free pass for sexual deviancy to allow for more children? And what economic models do the East & West have?

Well, some divine servants would be champions for their God but regarding the title Gods' Champions they're different things. Basically the people involved in stopping the Final Boss would be called "The Gods' Champions!" due to their heroics. Though speaking of twins the princesses of Mysteria are twin sisters, while their aunt is their mother's twin sister.

To the Gods themselves, basically a glorified family gathering. Though to everyone else, since they discuss events like maintaining the upkeep of Somber's prison kingdom or Memoria's kleptomania, the results of each gathering can greatly affect the Western Continent. Partially because of their meeting ten years ago did Einheit decide to be as cautious of mages as they are, since the royals there listen to anything the Gods have to tell them.

Their divine essence can be extracted, but they won't ever actually lose any of their strength. So basically they generate limitless mana. Though its easier just to collect some of their flesh than try to siphon energy directly from them. The Gods also can't steal power from themselves, and even if they tried to force another to bless them it wouldn't work.

The nature of the farm depends, with most being mundane or powered by magic. What mechanized farms there is are either personally overseen by Tinkerer and his Maiwhae or created by very rich people who could afford to haul along the required technology. In that case they also need to be rich enough to constantly afford replacement parts and people actually knowledgeable in what they're dealing with. Farmers don't get a free pass however.

The West operates on a system that primarily obeys value using currency as a secondary means mainly so one doesn't need a pack mule every time they need something extremely valuable. It uses weight to moderate and limit sales (five pound item = five pound or heavier item to purchase), though that's mainly just a basis for setting prices.

The East, since they're so magical, can mainly produce anything they need. What stuff they can't or wouldn't do they get by offering favors, making promises, performing services, or giving things (arranged marriage is distressingly common). Though it all has to be something the other accepts, so a person can be outright ignored. Since the West lacks their creativeness, Easterners have basically been making a killing trading with them while also being able to easily offload unwanted items.

Regarding children in the West, three per household is considered the limit for normalcy. Even then, seventeen is the most children a family has ever officially been known to have there. Illegitimate children and single parent households are also rather common, but isn't at all shameful in the West. In fact marriage is rather uncommon there, though the East sticks to a strict marriage system. Unwed parents and children conceived outside of marriage over in the East are... Frowned upon would be bit of an understatement.

[up][up]Brain Bleach

That explains the mortal interest in the meeting, what power-hungry mage could resist the chance for infinite magic... even if the chance of living beyond the attempt is nigh-impossible. How's the flesh thing work? Is there a black-market? And what about the people who clean up afterwords? "Janitor of the Gods" not only sounds impressive, but you could sell all the divine hairs & dust at the end of the day, and only work around a week(?) a year. grin

How does mind control work in this universe? Also, I can't finish my profile because I'm not quite sure what kind of fashion for men is in the capital, more specifically merchants and the like.

One way or another they're all capable of pretty rapid transportation, so the Gods usually don't approach Einheit until a day or two before the gathering (assuming they don't just have Gateway bring them over). Well, their shed body parts lose a lot of the magic (their neck is the focus for all their regeneration) though can still be to create Humonculi for example or power spells. They don't constantly shed skin cells or lose hair however, with it mainly being lost due to attacks or self-mutilation (the exact length of their hair will try to regenerate and being immortal deities...). Kinetic will freely allow mages to sample her flesh however, and won't care unless they deliberately intend to do harmful acts, evil deeds, or produce monsters.

Though besides using a God as limitless mana, ingesting their divine blood is a potent healing substance which in large quantities can provide anywhere from an extended lifespan to immortality (though that would be a truly insane amount). In addition, since the Gods can outright defy mortal magic (sometimes even physics) any loser can suddenly become a living nightmare if they manage to imbue themselves with a God's power.

However I would say God Flesh is mostly hoarded and then sold at black markets, which can hide just about anywhere. The people that clean up after the Gods at official meetings are supposed to deliver it to the authorities to deal with, supposedly destroying it so no one can abuse it. They have to be pretty trustworthy or heroic people as well. Though you'll need a skilled mage at detection if you want to collect every teeny little scrap.

Anything that thinks, thus possess a soul, can be manipulated. You got the pretty straightforward applications like reading minds, leaving suggestions, altering & creating memories, or just outright mental domination among other random things. Then you got people powerful enough that can force new personalities to develop inside your head, fill your head with piercing static, and other nasty things that are essentially violating your soul. In addition, deleting memories and even personalities means they're gone unless someone else reconstructs them. So even if your body dies, your soul is still affected by the altercations.

Mortal Mind Magic also covers emotions, and its also required studying if one wants to make more complex or specialized Humonculi & Golems. So if you can create a magical lifeform as mentally complex as a human, you have to be a skilled Mentalist as a result. Regarding the efficiency of mind control, if you know what you're doing pesky things like friendship or love won't break brainwashing. Though it also depends on one's will how easily they're affected, and all one needs to restore their mind is just one unaltered piece they can use to rebuild the connections.

Rather Victorian I suppose, mainly shades of brown for Western clothes. Though merchants are likely to get their hands on Eastern clothes, which are all kinds of elegant and awesomely impractical. So really anything works, and some merchants might have numerous belts/pouches/etc just for storing more things on their person.

Is there more than one language for the Eastern Continent? More than one culture? I ask because Zia would probably know at least one Eastern language from her father...

Here's my profile. Since it's a doppelgänger, I split them into two to make it easier. Tell me if it needs any changes.

  • Name: Adalbrect Ellrodt. (True Name: Ignace)

  • Race: Doppelgänger (disguised as human)

  • Age: 65 years old

  • Backstory: Being hired by a Necromancer to infiltrate the capital to assassinate a noble, he captured a merchant and impersonated him to get into Einheit. Leaving him there, Ignace is going from some random town to the capital. The noble in question is Raimond Herrick, who is marked. The Necromancer targeted him specifically because he's never experimented on a marked human and he's also incredibly low in the social hierarchy of the nobility.

  • Inventory (taken from Adalbrect):
    • Several magical trinkets
    • A radio
    • A notebook and pen
  • Inventory (Ignace's):
    • Several knives of varying sizes
    • Poison darts
    • A magical recording device

  • Physical Description (Adalbrect Disguise): He is four and a half feet tall with blond hair and brown eyes. He's wearing a large brown coat with several pockets. Pants are black, shirt is red and tie is gray. He also has several gilded loose bracelets.
  • Physical Description: When not in mimicking someone, he appears to have brown hair, eyes, an average build, and wears dark green and brown clothes. He dislikes his true form so doesn't use it often.

  • Adelbrect's personality: A man who's obsessed with magic, he tries to find magic items and is easily swindled by alchemists. He's curious about everything. Thinking positively about everything, he puts the idealistic decision first and is incredibly reckless. He mainly worships Winona
  • Personality: He is reclusive and shy. He desperately wants praise and thus will do whatever it takes to complete the mission. He is paranoid of being criticized or mocked at, so he isolates himself despite the wish to connect to people. He sells his services, thinking that out of a naive hope that he'll be happy.

  • Skills: He is a doppelgänger and thus has perfect impersonation skills. Ignace is also highly trained in stealth and negotiation. He is frail and doesn't have much body mass, so he relies on quick offense and speed to whittle people down.

Well, my original idea was a badger Beastkin who runs what is essentially a free clinic for animals using supplies she finds herself and funding anything else she needs by trading/smuggling.

But I have an idea for how to rework it.

Question on Beastkin, though: when they transform into a full animal or whatever, do they lose their equipment, like it falls off, or does it stay with them?

There are sub-types and whatnot, but besides the cultures & language of non-humans then not really. Though since I do want the West & East to be opposites to some level I don't really want to make a dozen different cultures. That and I'm still working on the East since it'll be a pretty complex place as well.

Not many would like being a mute gender-neutral shadow child I suppose. Did I mention their true form having golden eyes? Approved by the way, but I would like to know more about why he was hired, why the Necromancer wants the noble assassinated, who that noble is, how old Ignace is (the oldest ones still alive are roughly five hundred years), and why he sells his service to people.

Mainly depends on if the equipment is enchanted to account for size and/or shape. Unenchanted clothing for example would be torn by bigger forms while smaller forms would crawl out of it. Other items would mostly be unharmed, and they can easily recollect their things once transformed.

Awesome, just making sure. She'd probably speak one dialect, then... I sort of tried to give her a middle eastern/Indian vibe.

Yay, doppelganger! This is gonna be fun... I'm curious, though - when you described his form I wasn't sure if that was his true form or just the one he prefers inbetween copying someone.

A badger? Haha, funny thing - The 'B' in my handle actually stands for Badger (Lieutenant Badger Gob, it's a long story). Erie. tongue
