If it's an internal problem, then here's some advice I learned while replacing my laptop's screen.

For the screen, at least, there was a very specific replacement model I could purchase for cheap or a much more expensive all around replacement. I had to crack my laptop open and find the model # of the screen itself.

If you have something going on inside you laptop, a similar thing might be available.

@Ferg: Well, fuck. I know absolutely jack about laptops, so I can't advice you but....hope you can fix it.

Dumb question Ferg, have you tried using an ethernet cable?

If the problem is his wifi card, ethernet cables will definitely alleviate the problem. Although it's not a feasible option for everyone.

@GOA: I am certain that trying to dismantle the laptop on my own would end in tears.

@Dopey: I actually had it replaced, so that's out.

@Each: I don't have one available, not that I'd be able to plug it anywhere.

@Grim: I'll pay you back in more Alpe, I swear. D:

Oh, darn. Maybe you should try smashing it against the wall until it works.

...Sorry if you already did this, but did you try resetting the wireless adapter?

@Aqua: I think I did, though the issue seems to be with the laptop itself rather than the internet thingamajigger.

Well, waiting for my computer-smart cousin until he comes home, so I can bother him with this.

...Guys? I just realized something. In the past two (well, more like one-and-a-half) months, we've pretty much doubled the number of pages IC and OOC, compared to the four months before.

Don't believe me? Page 230 of the discussion page was from January 7.

Page 141 of the roleplay thread (we're currently at 283 over there) is from January sixth

What's up with the increase in activity?

Normally, I wouldn't think something as minor as this worthy of a post

Laptops can obly have 4 parts replaced.

Screen.

Hardrive.

Disk drive.

Battery.

Every thing else is soddered together, if it is the wifi card... I have bad news. :/

Have you tried re-installing your wifi drivers though?

Since I can't obtain these at this hour - 11.30 PM - I'll get to that ASAP tomorrow. Here's hoping that it's the case of drivers rather than malfunctioning hardware.

I assume that the only way to repair such a thing is to hand it over to a professional?

Most likely. I hope it's nothing too serious, Ferg.

I am a professional IT.. or at least certified, and I am telling you that if it is laptop hardwar beyond those 4 things, it can't be fixed....

....

Errr, and RAM, I forgot the RAM it can be fixed

Laptops are all one peice soddered together, if one part breaks there is absolutley no way in hell to fix it and you better hope the rig is under warrenty because it needs to go back to the manufactuer where they rip the entire inside and replace it.

...

Like 60% of the computer or more goes in the trash and gets replaced, so extensive that if the computer is over a year old they likley just write it off and tell (Insert whatever store you use) to give you a new computer.....

Its why working with laptops is such a joy. :/

So yea, hopefully it is drivers, or at least not hardware, laptop hardware problems are the worst thing ever. >.<

@ Insano's Problem : Speaking of which, if google translate lets you vew posts.... ummmmmm.... I know how to likley bypass the firewall compleatly, but I don't want to get you in trouble for telling it to you. >.<

What do?

I really hope you'll be able to solve the problem Ferg.

Or at least be able to quickly gain access to stuff again.

@Imca: Insano has this to say: “You can tell me, sure, but I can’t be sure if my dad won’t know I’m doing it. He’s a computer engineer.”

Well, then yea he probably would since it is the most common way to access blocked sites.

If you use an online proxy it goes straight through, would not recommend it then though since he likely knows these.

Honestly, at this point we're talking about not only Beacon, but also my being as a uni student, since all the lesson notes I need to attempt a retake are on the net.

Worry not. If need to, I'll keep using the phone though that obviously means there will be much less of me.

Uh, since Insano's having technical difficulties. What's gonna happen in Next? We kinda need him so initiation can wrap up.

We could have one GM take over, but that would be an increased workload on whoever gets it...
