In all seriousness, why Dreamworks? Four movies of this franchise (which didn't even need it's third and fourth installments) is enough.

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!The style of Fractured Fairy Tale that the series revels in is pretty much dead by this point. In a world where shows like Once Upon a Time are popular and the Disney fairy tale musical is making a comeback, another Shrek would be irrelevant and probably come off as more mean-spirited than the movies were to begin with.
The only one I've ever liked is the second one, and only because of Puss. I will never understand what all the fuss over the first one is about.

Looking for some stories?I will never understand what all the fuss over the first one is about.
You must understand the first Shrek in its own context. For the time it came out in, it was truly different and fresh. By now, all of its copycats have diluted its efect, but it was truly witty and innovative back then.
Even the third movie has a basically good concept, it's just they horribly botched the execution.
To add to that, the Disney formula had been copied by every other studio - see Anastasia, Quest For Camelot, etc. People were sick to death of musicals based off fairy tales, and that is why Shrek was a success.
And then history pretty much repeated itself...
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."=Spit takes=
What? A Shrek 5?! Is that necessary? Guys, you already left on the terrible note that was Shrek Forever After, do you really need to make an even worse Shrek Film?
Maybe I'm being too negative about this. Maybe they can give us an actual decent note to leave the series off. But judging by the Fourth Movie and the number of Direct-to-DVD videos, I have a reason to be so pessimistic...

They'll be back soon. Disney's films will jump the shark. The formula will grow stale. And history will repeat itself.
In reality though, Jay Ward already did the definitive fairy tale spoof. Why do we need more?

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."
Well, Fractured fairy tales were charming, cute, and relaxing. The shrek formula is spoofing fairly tales while adding vulgarity, excessive pop culture references, and obnoxious voices.
I happen to have liked Shrek 2 though. Probably because I saw it in an awesome theater..
you're right about Jay ward btw.

Supports cartoons being cartoony!Just a fair warning: Do we seriously need another one while this pretty much solidified the reason why we never need another Shrek movie again?:
Damn it, Dreamworks, even you know this is terrible! What, did you seriously need something to compete with CARS 3?

I actually kinda liked Shreks 3 and 4 a few years ago. I haven't really seen those two since I was like 13 (in the year 2011, my 7th grade year), so I need to watch them again to see how they hold u[p to my updated film viewing standards. I tried that with the Wimpy Kid movies, those failed to hold up because, well....I'll let Marty explain my issue with Greg Heffley:

EDIT: Okay, we get Shrek 5, Finding Dory, and Cars 3...but no A Bug's Life sequel/prequel?

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!It ain't ogre until Dreamworks says its ogre.
Seriously though,I seriously don't get the point in doing a new one.The 4th pretty much rapped up the story and the series hadn't been doing to well later on.And I seriously doubt that this could be a good idea, especially with how Dreamworks is doing nowadays.
