Yeah, sorry, I should have been clearer about that. Sun Mi has only been dead for about a week, just long enough for it to sink in what life would be like without her. As for her coming back to life, all anyone knows is that she disappeared from the morgue and reappeared on the Pyon’s doorstep. Her parents were joyful, but since she doesn’t know what they’re talking about and Sun Mi makes a habit of alienating them anyway, they don’t make any headway in solving the issue. Basically all of the professionals involved shrugged their shoulders and said “Shit, we made a mistake.” If you wanted to bring in your non-magical anti-Witch taskforce, you could have one of them investigate this inexplicable occurrence and start breathing down Hei Ryung’s neck

I really liked how the wishes are granted strings-free in the original series. The catch here is that Sun Mi was brought back to life, but nothing was done about the conditions that lead to her death in the first place—her recklessness, questionable company, etc. As it stands its only a matter of time before something similar happens again.

I gotta say, it’s a weird feeling to sign up and be told that I need to make them stronger. tongue I'll get on it.

Seems like Hei Ryung is the one that won't be especially affected by Mariya's collateral damage inducing powers... in before all of the girls are messed up to that point.

I thought that at some point the Incubators found people too old to ahem, grant their wishes and reap their energy. But on the good (or maddening side) is that she would still see them granted she still has potential (only PM and candidates can see them in the series)

I'm not adverse of coaching a Magical girl from the start.

Sorry for the temporary absence, but I was working on a little part of the "Guidebook"/"Manual"/"World-bible" I was talking about.

It's FAR from being complete, and there are LOTS of details I can't reveal just yet, mostly because they're related to plot-twists, future developments and a lot of sensitive information. Hopefully, if we manage to get far into the story, you'll all get to see them.

I'll respond to your comments soon enough... Just give me some time to recover my energy, because I'm kinda tired right now...

Also, the Discussion Thread is now live, so I'd recommend for all of us to employ in order to not clutter the sign-up page.

  • Name: Seika Kugimiya
  • Age: 13
  • Nationality: Japanese
  • Normal Appearance: Seika is a black hair and blue eyes young lady who is fairly flat with a small build but still growing, trying to get beyond her short 4'9" height. She has a naturally neat appearance with her clear skin which alongside her shoulder length hairstyle that covers her ears and her entire forehead makes maintaining her looks easy, a good thing as she doesn't like to waste time with beauty rituals. Seika prefers to keep her clothing simple and wears blue or black jeans and a t-shirt, usually the shirt has some kind of printing on it and she tends to wear blue colors, and avoids wearing skirts or dresses. Her untransformed Soul Gem is a dark blue sapphire gem with an ornate decoration where the gem sits on a silver chain that she usually keeps unseen underneath her shirt.
  • Personality: Shy, intelligent, stubborn, lazy, loyal, Seika displays a wide variety of traits depending on the situation. At heart, she is a true idealist. She wants to believe in everything. Seika wants to think that the world is a happy place, that true love exists. However, these ideals are beneath the surface and she only feels them while reading a book or immersed in an RPG. On the surface, she is usually polite to strangers and rather cynical to acquaintances as she has difficulties in putting appropriate value and the problems of others. On top of this, Seika is gifted with an above average intelligence and cursed with finding others' problems boring and inconsequential. Because of how inwardly focused she is, in the real world she has great difficulty making friends.

However, Seika can set aside these difficulties within the comfort of a video game or book. Escaping from the reality to put on a dedicated, loyal, and helpful person while playing online games is her favorite pastime. This alternate face is also one she puts on when she assumes Magical Girl form, treating being a Magical Girl as a video game. She can be a lot more outgoing while playing something and it tempers how harsh she normally is with other people. However, she still tends to be stubborn and argumentative when topics come up that she feels strongly about. She particularly doesn't like Player vs Player combat that tends to be inherently unfair in MMORP Gs and likewise finds the whole idea of actually fighting other Magical People to be a bad one unless she is attacked. There are no Grief Seeds to get from fighting other Magical Girls directly.

  • Backstory: Seika's early life quickly led to chaos and unpredictability with her parents' divorce. Both with fragile income and changing constantly, she was passed from one parent to the other often randomly. Not understanding what the problems were and having no real time to forge long term friends, Seika quickly grew to be self-reliant and focused on herself, the only real constant in her life. Her school life was difficult as she so easily got straight As with her gifted intelligence that her classmates sometimes resented it. It also never helped when she very directly pointed out exactly what her classmates were wrong on, and with the constant changing in schools she never managed to keep a friend that could tolerate her personality. Because of how difficult it was to befriend others, Seika found refuge in books and video games. She found better friends on the internet than she did in real life.

Then one day she wandered unknowingly into a Witch's labyrinth. There, she saw a strange and chaotic landscape she couldn't really process as anything but a dream. It was MM-Reeck who decided to risk going in after Seika who had potential to be a Magical Girl. Thinking things were a dream, and fortunately not running directly into anything dangerous before meeting MM-Reeck, Seika decided to go along with the dream and made her wish. Seika fought her way through the witch's labyrinth and the witch's endless supply of Ant minions to finally face off against and destroy the Witch that acted as an Ant queen to the familiars. After finishing off this witch Seika soon realized just how real this Magical Girl stuff was, forcing her to moonlight as a Magical Girl while keeping up with her school work. She stopped playing video games for the most part and her grades suffered, she was no longer a straight A student, but she managed to keep things under control for now. Eventually her father's job took him to [THE CITY] where Seika now had to re-accustom herself to the local area.

  • Wish: "All I want is in fantasy anyway. Give me, oh I don't know, how about you make it so I don't need to sleep?" Seika did not buy into the Magical World when she made her wish so wished for the first thing that came to her mind. If she didn't sleep, she'd have more time for gaming.
  • Costumed Appearance: See Power
  • Soul Gem: Seika's Soul Gem is a blue dark sapphire gem, sitting as a simple sphere on a chain on a silver chain in its untransformed state with silver roses where the chain attaches to the gem. Partially transformed as with all Puella Magi, the Soul Gem is a blue egg shaped jewel and with this silver adornments on its top and bottom decorated with thorned silver rose vines and roses. Her costumed appearance varies on Class, but her Soul Gem is a sapphire rose in all cases.
  • Weapon: See Power
  • Power: Class Change - Seika's power comes in the form of multiple classes, based on different aspects that you would expect in an MMORPG. Changing classes takes about 30 seconds of vulnerability when an attack would stop the transformation sequence and force her to un-magical form. She chooses whichever one she desires when she initially transforms.
    • Crusader
      • Weapon: Sword, Shield, and Armor
      • Appearance: Seika is dressed an an ornate full plate armor with a sword and shield and a blue tabard decorated with a blue rose. Underneath she wears a simple blue tunic and brown pants with a woven belt. She has short red hair hidden in her helm. In this form, her Blue Rose shaped gem is hidden on her belt underneath the armor.
      • Notes: This form can focus magic in her sword strikes, and with her Soul Gem hidden it is protected from attack.
    • Ranger
      • Weapon: Bow and a quiver of arrows (which refill automatically)
      • Appearance: In this form Seika takes a decidedly elf-like taller form with pointed ears and long flowing blonde hair. She wears light leather armor over a blue tunic and green pants and her right, silver earring holds her blue rose shaped soul gem
      • Notes: This form is much more agile than other forms and she can summon a Tiger pet that attacks with its claws and saber teeth (instead of what most do in summoning multiple weapons)
    • Mage
      • Weapon: Ice Touch (Entire body is Ice.)
      • Appearance: As a Mage, Seika instinctively chooses an unusual appearance rather than simple mage robes. She becomes an Ice elemental, with her entire body being a sleek, ice figure wrapped only in ice. Her Soul Gem rests on her chest over her heart, a blue Rose.
      • Notes: As her Mage form Seika wields ice magic, throwing sprays, balls, or beams of ice that freeze what they touch. Her body is also icy, freezing what she touches or touches her directly. Rather than walk, in this class Seika glides through the air freely but she moves only at one speed, slow for a Magical Girl. However, this form exchanges both defense and agility for power and while her icy touch is a deterrent to direct attack she is more easily harmed. She is highly resistant to cold and ice in this form for obvious reasons.
    • Healer
      • Weapon: Staff
      • Appearance: As a Healer Seika wears a Meido outfit with a long black dress and a frilly white apron over it with a maids cap that has her blue rose soul gem adorning it.
      • Notes: As a Healer Seika is not specially inclined for combat, instead she is able to touch someone with her hands to heal their wounds. This is not a cheap process, draining a lot of magical power to heal herself or other Puella Magic, usually more than the magic it would take to cause the injury, but simpler, normal human bodies are easy to heal. While this can heal wounds her touch cannot remove disease, only slow it's progress by reversing the damage to the immune system.

  • Miscellaneous Info: Unlike other Puella Magi, her Core ability grants a variety of forms, three forms that fit the classic four types of RPG characters, Warriors, Wizards, Rogues, and clerics. While she may not appear to be different from other Magi This versatility comes at a price as she doesn't have typical Final Attacks as other Magical Girls do.

If you're stuck for weapons, may I propose a laptop that transforms into a laser cannon? It would certainly be the most powerful laptop on Earth. Eh? Eh?

No no, wait, better idea. Give her a rocket propelled axe, so that she fights enemies by hacking them. Ehhhhhhh?

@stephanreiken: Yeah, it's definitely for the best. To be honest pal, your previous concept (the King-Arthur-Lady / aka. Not!Saber) was too messy and too focused on the combat aspect of the deal for me to approve it, even with major changes performed to it.

The kind of complexity I'm looking for in this story isn't one related to an overtly convoluted backstory, but human complexity. I'm talking about nuanced characters with an intricate personality, with dreams, fears, virtues, flaws, biases, and even more. That's what really interest me.

Anyway, with that said: I think you're on the right path with this other concept. The human part of it more fleshed-out and compelling, easier to relate with, which will be extremely important in order to showcase genuine emotion once the story starts. Once you complete it, and address the points I'm gonna brought up next, you are mostly guaranteed to be approved.

So, the “corrections”/adjustments you need to make are the next:

  1. If Seika feels uncomfortable with her Puella Magi outfit, then that means it can't exist in such form. After all, each and every single one of them subconsciously creates an outfit that fits with their personality and aspirations, always creating something they genuinely like.
  2. There's no Incubator named Tsubey on this story, as that would really mess up the Theme Naming scheme I'll be using. However, you can name it either MM-Reeck, Snid-Deerr or Raih-Meeh.
  3. You'll need to choose another wish, because a Super-Magical-Computer would be a disastrous Story-Breaker Power for my future plans... Not because of its Witch killing potential, but because it could theoretically be used to unravel a significant portion of the mystery-solving-arc I've got planned for this story.

So yeah, those are the major issues right now; otherwise, and I reiterate, you're on the right path.

Also, if you allow me to make a suggestion for her unique power, I'd say: Since she is (or was) a fan of MMORPGs I'd recommend a variation of Multiform Balance. (A “Class Change” if you will) It would allow her to cycle through a set of different power sets, in the same way a MMORPG player might change their character's abilities in order to tackle different challenges. (like Druids in World of Warcraft) The balancing factor would be that each change leaves her temporarily vulnerable, so it's not practical to change in the middle of battle unless she has support, and that she might have a versatile power-set, but her sheer-power isn't as high as any of the other girls.

Here's one of the Puella Magi you'll meet during this story's first episode... Still a lot more to go, but you'll get to know them as we move forward.

  • Name: Hildegard Deris
  • Age: 17 years
  • Nationality: German
  • Normal Appearance: She stands at 1.75 m tall, (roughly 5'9") with a fairly average complexion despite her remarkable stature; she doesn't have “too much going on” on the “curves department”, but she isn't outright “flat” either. Her messy brown hair is usually trimmed short for practicality sake, its most noteworthy characteristic being a pair of earlocks that resemble Hot-Blooded Sideburns. Her face is quite expressive and rather pleasant, quality accentuated by her sincere blue eyes.

Because of her unique circumstances, she can't afford the luxury of having a fashionable nor consistent wardrobe, with most of her clothes being second-hand items donated by other people. However, she always tries to wear a serviceable pair of sneakers due to her active life-rhythm, (as other kinds of shoes don't make the cut for it) a baseball cap to protect her eyes and head during sunny or rainy days, a windbreaker (or another kind of warm jacket) to safeguard herself from the cold, and a backpack to carry what little else she might have.

Once you take all those factors in consideration, as well as her bold and larger than life mannerisms, it's no surprise that some people might mistake her for a boy at first glance... That's until they listen to her clearly feminine voice or have a better look at her womanly figure.
  • Personality: She's passionate, audacious and rather straightforward, but also gentle, empathetic and genuinely sweet; the kind of person you would want to have by your side when things start to get really difficult. After all, she believes that every person, no matter how insignificant they may seem, is important and precious, and that there's no such thing as an irremediably evil human.

While she might appear kinda goofy and overtly carefree at times, even when it comes to Witch's hunting, the truth is that she's always focused on her ultimate goal: Protect those that cannot defend themselves from the evil forces that lurk beyond human perception, and she will do everything in her power to accomplish that mission.

She has taken to heart virtues like selflessness, humility, patience, mercy, loyalty, bravery, honesty and generosity; all of which give her strength and determination to keep moving forward, making her extremely resistant to despair... A quality she wants to instill in her fellow Puella Magi, as she knows how destructive it is for all of them.
  • Backstory: Born in a stable and secure home, raised by loving parents, Hilde's early years were an uneventful, but pleasant and fulfilling period to her... That was, until tragedy struck not long after her 5th birthday, when her parents died during an incident she couldn't understand because of her tender age. With no immediate family wanting to take care of her, Hilde was sent to an orphanage run by catholic nuns.

Struck by grief, the girl spent two years in a state of depression, outright rejecting all the adoption attempts that happened during that period, because she still believed that her parents might show up some day to take her back to home, so they could be a family once again. As it became clear to her that it wasn't gonna happen, Hilde's despair became even worse, up to the point she considered taking away in her life, so she could see her parents in the after-life all nuns seemed to talk about.

It was then, at the worst point of her life, that an angel appeared to her save her. Her name was Abigail, a young sister who had just started working at the orphanage; it was her who stopped her before she could carry out her plan. She told her that every life is precious, that neither her parents nor her would want her to die that way. Abigail also told her that she always wanted to have a child of her own, but that her body wasn't suitable to carry a baby, and that all her attempts to conceive ended up in failure... It was because of that couldn't stand seeing young girl like her trying to end her life, as she learned the hard way how precious and fragile life can really be.

Genuinely moved by the sister's story, Hilde never tried something like that ever again, and from that point onwards, the nun and the little girl became really close to each other. A mother without a child, and a child without parents... Both knew they would never be able to replace what they lost, but they were always genuinely grateful to have one another. It was thanks to Abigail's love and moral fortitude, that Hilde grew into a kind and virtuous individual, always helping others in whatever way she could. For a brief but meaningful moment in time, it seemed like things were gonna be OK from that point onwards... And then life took a turn for the worse once again.

No one ever found how it was initiated, but three years ago, a fire started inside of the orphanage in the middle of the night. Even though most of the children and personnel evacuated in time, several of them where caught because of the burning wreckage. Knowing that there wasn't time to lose, Abigail and Hilde tried their best in order to save those left behind, and they managed to do so... But they ended up trapped in the process. In the end, Abigail died trying to protect Hilde from the fire and debris using her body as a shield, and when the firemen vanquished the inferno, Hilde was already on the brink of death, with mere hours to live before the injuries and burns she sustained sapped the small amount of life that was left in her.

With the place she used to consider her second home destroyed, and the person that loved her the most on this world gone, Hilde was ready to welcome death without harsh feelings nor regrets on her heart... But, it was then when something really strange happened: A mysterious creature who identified itself as Rhyd-Leey appeared before her. The creature said that it wanted to establish a contract with her, and that in exchange of her services, it could grant any wish she wanted; it said that she could use this wish to bring her parents and even sister Abigail back from the death, that she could recover everything she lost and more.

However, the girl's response was something that genuinely surprised the creature, something it had never heard a Candidate say before: “No... Our lives belong to something far greater than me or you, or anyone of us. I don't want to disturb the eternal rest of those who were so dear to me just because of my selfish wishes.” Confused, but intrigued at the same time, the creature agreed to respect her will, and instead choose to go for a different approach: It explained that the mission it was talking about was also something which was far greater than any of them, something that was meant to safeguard the lives of countless other living beings; that refusing this chance might the the same as throwing away her life, like she was about to do before being stopped by Abigail seven years ago.

Clearly moved after being reminded of such an important event on her life, Hilde agreed to make the contract with Rhyd-Leey. Now healed from her wounds, and bestow with a new power and mission, she started to roam the world, hunting Witches and helping those afflicted by them in any way she could. It has been difficult journey so far, but it's a burden she endures with dignity and respect.
  • Wish: “... I want the strength to walk this world once more, so I can help those that really need it.”
  • Costumed Appearance: Her outfit heavily resembles the uniforms of the U.S. army pilots during WW1; it features a dark brown jacket with a leather-like finish, a pair of beige colored breeches and a flowing white scarf. However, instead of the distinctive goggles&leather-helmet that is so ubiquitous for the look, she wears a Collapsible Helmet that offers some added protection (both in flight and in combat) while also enhancing the intimidation factor of her general appearance, but can easily be stored in case she needs to appear less aggressive. The leather gloves and boots are also replaced by a pair of futuristic looking gauntlets and greaves, which are specifically designed to increase the strength of her melee attacks, while also offering an extra layer of defense in her extremities.
  • Soul Gem: Green colored, with an slight opalescent shine to it. In its dormant state, it looks like a tear shaped pendant attached to a chain around Hilde's neck, which she usually keeps beneath her clothes to avoid attracting attention to it. In her Puella Magi form, it appears as a hexagonal gem located either on the forehead area of Hilde's helmet, or behind her neck whenever said helmet folds.
  • Weapon: Propeller Blade. It's a X-shaped custom blade that can be remotely controlled even after having been thrown . It can also be attached to Hilde's gauntlets and greaves and spin in place in order to increase the destructive power of her melee strikes, or as a makeshift shield capable of reflecting some attacks.
  • Power: High-Speed Flight. Besides granting her mobility and evasion that surpasses those of almost any other Puella Magi or Witch, Hilde's power also amplifies the destructive force of her melee attacks to ludicrous levels. While active, this power also increases her defense in order to compensate the destructive forces that her body is submitted to, as well as generating a green aura that provides an “after-image effect”, which makes tracking and hitting her even more difficult for Witches that rely on sight to catch their prey..
  • Miscellaneous Info:
    • She's our Mami Tomoe's analog for this story. Take that as you will...
    • In-story, her Puella Magi form is based on vague memories of comicbook she read when she was really young; she doesn't remember this, but said comicbook was her dad's favorite one.
    • Outside of story, her Puella Magi form is heavily based on the Rocketeer. Here are some reference images.
    • Her weapon is based on both the Huckebein Mk. III's Fang Slasher attack, and the Beam Rotors used by the Zanscare Empire's mobile suits.
    • She used to dream about becoming a pilot, which is why her unique power and appearance turned out that way.
    • She has to perform temporary odd jobs in order to support herself; something that baffles most Incubators, as they usually tell her she could just take whatever she wants without feeling bad about it, but her principles don't allow her to do so.
  • Tropes [Optional]:
    • All Loving Heroine: She tries her best in order to be one, as her core values may indicate.
      • Beware the Nice Ones: That said, she's merciless when it comes to Witch slaying, and while she won't kill a fellow human being, she's gonna hurt them a lot if she founds one doing something particularly evil out of their own volition.
    • Bifauxnen: To a certain extend, as her clothes and certain things about her appearance aren't particularly feminine, but her voice, figure and sweet demeanor definitely are.
      • Samus Is a Girl: When clad in her Puella Magi outfit, specially if the helmet is on.
    • Bruiser with a Soft Center: In battle, she's a nigh unstoppable force with a tendency to tear her opponents to shreds. Outside of it, she's a gentle, caring and genuinely nice person who will do everything in her power in order to comfort an ailing fellow, be them either another Puella Magi or just an unfortunate stranger.
    • The Cape / Ideal Heroine: A textbook case... But also a tragic one, considering the kind of story she's part of.
    • Cloudcuckoolander: She has some shades of this too, specially when outside of battle. This is mostly because she doesn't like keeping her thoughts to herself, even the stranger ones.
    • The Drifter: Because of how Witch hunting works, she can rarely stay in one place for too long before moving to the next one, especially if there are already has other Puella Magi that use said zone as “hunting grounds”.
    • Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: Subverted due to her Collapsible Helmet... Though, she prefers not to wear it whenever she has to directly address another Puella Magi.
    • Henshin Heroine: Both her looks and fighting style resemble one.
    • Hot-Blooded & Large Ham: Her style and demeanor wouldn't be out of place in a Go Nagai manga.
    • Let's Get Dangerous!: She might appear a little too eccentric when in company of other Puella Magi, but that's mostly something she does in order to give them confidence... When it's time to get serious, she doesn't take any chances.
    • Living on Borrowed Time: She considers her new life as a Puella Magi to be this, as she was mere hours away from death before she made the contract. That said, she sees this in a mostly positive light, as it has allowed her to help and save a lot of people in the process.
    • Parental Substitute: Sister Abigail was this to her after her parents' death, obviously. As such, she has a lot of respect for her and all of her teachings.
    • Scarf of Asskicking: A white one which she wears in her Puella Magi form.
    • Secular Heroine: Raised Catholic, but not particularly keen on the dogmas nor traditions of the faith. That said, her core values were clearly influenced her upbringing. She's also the kind of person who wants for her actions to speak for themselves instead of preaching them to people that might or might not be listening.
    • The Pollyanna: She has endured a lot of pain, both before and after becoming a Puella Magi... And yet, she still keeps a positive outlook of life and a strange resilience to despair.

@Uncandescent: Yeah, it's pretty much what Bassetete said... The ones who are genuinely ruthless and dangerous will appear as the story progresses... Though, there isn't anyone in particular that I'd consider a clear example of "murdertastic", as even the more amoral and destructive ones aren't outright psychos... But, never mind, I'm getting ahead of myself...

@Bassetete: Thanks a lot for updating your profile.

@Atomic_Nut: What's the matter comrade? Did something I wrote put you off in some particular way? Or is it something not directly connected to the story that you'd prefer not to talk about?

As I've previously stated, I really liked your character concept, and the possibilities it brought to this particular story, so losing you would be kinda disappointing to me... But, if you really feel like you have to go, I can understand that, and I won't have any harsh feelings about it.

More like I've spread myself too thin among rps- but seeing the direction some stuff is going, consider my previous statement retracted.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, and I'm eagerly looking forward to where this is going.

Consider me interested. I already have a concept on my head, my only real issue is putting it on paper (describing isn't really my forte, but limits are made to be broken! Or so it's said). The idea of a Magical Girl treading gracefully on a battlefield while strangling or slicing through Witches by playing a violin or a harp may not be too original, but I sure like it.

Yes, Saint Seiya inspired me. I may even have her play Mime's song if my sign-up is approved.

@Rapier: Sure, go for it. I have a soft spot for Musical Assassins, so as long as the other aspects about your character are interesting, everything should be OK.

It's not necessary for your profile to be extremely long... That's why using a Trope list to describe some important aspects can be helpful, as you can condense a high amount of info using a couple of keywords.

Between the name of the game ("Dominique") and the idea of a violin-wielding assassin, I cannot help but imagine that whoever this meguca is, they're wielding an Erich Zann-model violin, aka the Violin That Kills Demons: a thoroughly terrible artifact, one of twelve originally made, of immense magical power—and, in the series that it came from, wielded by Dr. Dominique "Mo" O'Brien, Agent CANDID.

It's bone-white because it's made from polished bones—-human bones extracted from more than a dozen living donors without anesthesia in the predecessors of the medical laboratories at Birkenau and Belsen. It's an Erich Zahn original, with Hilbert-space pickups, and it plays the music of the hyperspheres until the audience bleed from ears, eyes and other orifices. I've seen it steal souls and lay the walking dead to rest. I've seen it whip up a storm and blast lightning across the floor of a megalomaniac's floating fortress. It is not a suitable instrument for lullabies and nursery rhymes...

I wish I had such an amount of creativity. =P

My concept is almost done. What I'm thinking leans more toward the "musical assassin who strangles/cuts others with ethereal cords" than "musical assassin who makes people explode when they hear her song". My punny self has determined that her violin will be used for the "strangles/cuts from ethereal cords", since it sounds sharp, while her harp will be used for the former stat effects, ultimately messing with the minds of others or breaking it (on theory).

Her background is of a sickly girl who's been incapable of living a normal life until the opportunity to make a wish arose. This granted her a certain ackwardness to dealing with others, a certain coldness on human relations and a lot of time to delve into books, music and culture in general. The corollaly backfire effect from her wish is her tough time adapting to the outside world.

I think I'll finish this in a few hours, if I don't forget about it. =P

I'll finish her backstory tomorrow when I have the time. So far, I hope I haven't broken anything, as I'm quite rusty myself.

  • Name: Candace Norwood
  • Age: 15
  • Nationality: 'murrican
  • Normal Appearance: A girl who stands on 1,55 meters (don't ask me to convert this), slender but well proportioned enough regarding weight to not be considered skinny, with no other notable physical caracteristics other than slightly well developped long hips and bust. Both her hands and feet are oddily small, which makes one wonder how she can play the violin or the harp. Her long, well treated black hair falls over her shoulders as a cascade and easily reaches her waist, which spreads over her back like a veil; her olive green eyes are an almost intentional complement, just as her fair, smooth face and long nosebridge. She usually prefers cold/dark colored clothes, blue being her favorite pick and most likely choice when searching over her wardrobe. This is pretty close to what I have on mind.
  • Personality: Cold and formal toward strangers, warm and rather awkward toward acquaintances, Candance gives off an antisocial vibe at first, being a tranquil girl that avoids the spotlights, even if later she shows her more social and outgoing side as one gets to know her better, which is a rare thing considering her hardships with small talk and giving continuation to an everyday conversation. Her common traits are her cultured self, ranging from the classics to modern media, and her expressive manner, often choosing quite poetic sentences that seem awkwardly taken off a book or gesticulating quite exaggeratedly, which traces a comparisson between her and acting. She is the type to hardly let go of her convictions or change her mind; convincing her to take an opposite stance with regards to a certain subject is hard and usually iniciates a long, tiring debate. Her tendency to never let unfinished business stay as they are, be it a past mistake or the delay on finishing a book, makes her one resillient and hard working girl.
  • Backstory:
  • Wish: "If what you say is true... Then I wish with all my heart to be rid of my condition. There is nothing worse than living strapped to my own deathbed, no matter how cruel the outside world may be"
  • Costumed Appearance: When transformed, her ordinary clothes are changed to a regal dark blue dress a few centimeters from reaching her heels (similar to this), with no further addorns or details, complemented by a pair of white silk gloves, gold colored high heeled footwears and a slight makeup over her face.
  • Weapon: She wields a honey colored violin or a silver colored harp, depending on her mood and ocasion. She can switch between both whenever she pleases, though it may give the perfect opportunity to strike her in the meantime.
  • Power: With her instruments, Candace is capable of using her song to summon ethereal, glowing white strings to cut through or strangle her opponents and confuse their minds. With her violin, emphasis is given to the former by focusing on sound speed string attacks all the while slightly meddling with their perception in order to make it more difficult to dodge. With her harp, emphasis is given to the latter, the intent being to gradually twisting their minds and evoking destructive emotions all the while attacking in a slower pace.
    • Her powers can also be used to assist others in battle, depending on the song she chooses to play. In any case, the major problem is Friendly Fire or aiding the enemy unintentionally. The most she can do is... diminish the side effects slightly and opt for the violin instead, since its Status Ailments are naturally weaker and it focuses on targetting with said strings.
  • Miscellaneous Info:
  • Tropes [Optional]:
    • Absurd Cutting Power: Her strings' cutting power, albeit not as sharp as a blade, are as sharp as scissors.
    • Accidental Hero: Her intent was not to become a Magical Girl, yet she had to chose between paying this small price or being hampered by her sickness for the rest of her life.
    • Death Of A Thousand Cuts: May evoke this.
    • Determinator: Whenever she has her mind set onto something. Good luck convincing her to let it go.

    • Musical Assassin: Self explainable.
    • Friendly Fire: Her powers are capable of doing this.
    • Friendly Fireproof: Averted
    • Screw The Rules I'm Doing What's Right: Whenever her convictions and rules are conflicting, she will often side with the former unless given pretty good reasons not to.
    • These Hands Have Killed: Averted, at least on the beginning. She has little sympathy toward Witches or enemy Magical Girls and wouldn't be opposed to finishing them off. Her consciousness may weight later if said Magical Girl had a few good traits, or if she finds out, later on the plot, that the Witch she just slew was one of her fellow.

I might be interested, if there's still room. Not 100% sure yet.
