Matthew Lillard teases new Scooby-Doo experience that's not a cartoon or movie.
Anyone wonder how to divide the 2010 onward DTV movies in era? It's obvious the pre-2010 eras are 1998-2001 (the dark Mook Animation with real monsters movies), 2003 (the retro Where Are You style), and 2004-09 (the What's New Scooby Doo style), but how are the movies from 2010 onward classified in era?
I personally would put 2010-15 as the "Revival, character driven" era of movies and the 2015 onward ones as the "Crossover era" (since the crossover movies exploded from 2015 onward and maybe the switch from Mindy Cohn to Kate Micucci as Velma signifies that transition).
Maybe a Scooby Doo video game?

A facebook video said "If Fred And Shaggy have no chemistry or friendship, the show has failed" I dont know if that's true but I think its a testament that there are millions of ways a Scooby Doo show can go and appeal to vastly different people each time. Who is closer to who, and who has a crush on who has always changed.
As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end. It's canon they have no chemistry or friendship (check the video on The Friends Who Never Hang).
I always have thought Fred is the most interesting character in the franchise because he's the one with the most agency. Left to their own devices Scooby Doo and Shaggy are the Pinball Protagonist type, stories have to come their way, which is why their solo stories with Scrappy and Get a Clue felt so unbecoming. Fred is the one who is gung ho about actually going into mysteries to solve them, the others generally found that, if he's not the lead he's at least the inspiration, the one with that drive.
The recent attempts to push Velma into that role, like in her show and that movie with Daphne feel unsincere because every Scooby character fills a very specific role and pushing any of them into another's role feels anti-natural.
A key part of what made Mystery Inc good is it took the time to explore what makes a person like Fred click without overpraising him or shooting him down.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.![]()
I suppose it makes sense that was the clip they were referring to. I get people wanting for Fred and Shaggy to have friendship, it would be nice, but saying "the show has failed" if that isn't the case seems a bit hyperbolic given that's never really been the case (I'm sure, in the plethora of Scooby Doo content, Fred and Shaggy have at least once interacted as friends, but it happens rarely if it happens at all).

Usually, only Scooby has much chemistry with Shaggy at all.
I do recall that in Alien Invaders, Fred and Shaggy have a brief moment where Fred expresses his sympathy after Crystal has to leave. Then, in Stage Fright, an exasperated Shaggy advises Fred to talk to Daphne about his feelings for her. But generally, they don't have much direct interaction—Fred usually interacts with Daphne and, to a lesser extent, Velma, and Shaggy of course interacts with Scooby.

Honestly, it's not worth dignifying Velma with a response from the real series.
