Are you referring to "Kanbei's Error"? The key is to eliminate Kanbei's infantry unit on that single island and prevent him from capturing any more cities while you go to town on the other islands away from Kanbei's HQ and base islands. You'll have little to fear if you eliminate Kanbei's air units swiftly.
ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.So question about the Switch. One of my Joy-Cons is broken and keeps directing me to the Left. Can I just replace it with a brand new Joy-Con or do I have to get it fixed.
And follow up question, I live in Denmark, but can I use a Joy-Con from a different country like the UK or USA to replace it or should it be from the same country?

- This is the wrong topic. You wanted the Nintendo Switch thread. That being said...
- You can do either. AFAIK, NOE now fixes Joy-Con for free like every other region. So you can probably put in a repair ticket.
- Country doesn't matter.
Now, on topic... I never hear people talk about Battalion Wars. What's the over/under on those spin-offs?

For the sake of being helpful... Joycon drift can sometimes be solved by recalibrating them. Try that first, you might save yourself some money if that turns out to be the issue. Here's Nintendo's support page with instructions on doing so.
And if it does turn out to be broken, here's Nintendo's page on how to replace the Joycons.
As for the second question, a quick google search shows that Joycons are region-free, meaning they'll work with any hardware from any country.
Never played them, so I can't give any insightful input. But from what little I've heard? They were rather "meh" with little in the way of actual strategy. A comparison made was akin to the first two Battle Tanx games or Wargames: DEFCON 1 on the PS 1, with players taking control of a single "hero" vehicle and fighting against an entire army of enemies.

I remember liking Battalion Wars 2. Not as much as Advance Wars, but in retrospect I think that was more because I liked turn based 4Xes more than RTS ones even as a kid.
The biggest real issue I remember was that the control scheme wasn't particularly great for the RTS combat, especially since the player was intended to juggle RTS combat and playing as a single unit (if they so chose) at the same time. Also IIRC it could've used a skirmish mode, but then there wasn't much difference between the factions anyway so regular battles might've been a bit stale.

"Kanbei's Error", on Normal mode, is actually a Breather Level. It's the subsequent levels that will really test your patience.
ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.I also remember having fun with Battalion Wars 2.
The copy I played got sold at some point, but fortunately when I was picking up some games last year with the eShop closure I noticed it was super cheap (sub $10).
So I picked up a new copy. I need to give it a replay at some point.
It did feel kind of overpowered using your single controlled unit - certain ones could solo vehicles pretty quickly. But I suppose I never went for maximum ranks, so I'm not sure if that makes both controlling your army & your unit well necessary for those ranks.
I haven't tested that myself in the normal campaign, having known where the labs are from experience and acquiring them as soon as I could. I did miss out on Hard Campaign's Orange Star lab given that its original mission was removed from Hard Campaign, so I replayed its mission (Andy's Time), captured the city, completed the mission, and unlocked the map.
A telltale sign is if dialogue plays when you captured the relevant city.
ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.Yeah, something's definitely wrong. The dialogue played, but again the mission never unlocked.
Does the Green Earth Lab mission maybe unlock later than the others, even if you have the map?
ADDENDUM: Looked it up, and... whelp:
So it's a bug, I guess. I stopped the cap, but it didn't matter. Either that, or an entirely unremarked on limitation that the player has no idea exists, which is just as bad.
Oh, well. I was looking forward to having Neotanks with all three nations in the final battle, but that mission was annoying enough to do once, irritating to do twice, and there's no way I'm doing it three times.

Was this an intentional design choice for Re-Boot Camp? For the original game at least you had the excuse of going through the missions and recording your progress. Here, however, it seems like a worrying case of Permanently Missable Content due to how the campaign menu lets you replay missions.
On the other hand, given that the city for "Sinking Feeling" is so far away from Lash's base, you basically just let her go all the way over without any resistance. Sure, you didn't know to capture the city in the first place, but ordinarily Lash never even got the chance to make it that far even if I hadn't bothered sending someone to capture that city first, as I would have sunk her Battleships (ho ho ho) well before then.
ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.Missile-Chan is, I think, a meme character created by Mangs and his fanbase.

I've returned to my favorite Advance Wars game, and happy to learn that there's already an online simulator (complete with bots and trial maps).
The "professional custom" maps are quite different from the cartridge maps. The cartridge maps mostly have 1 front and easy to stalemate and chokepoint. The custom maps are wide open and multi-front, and while some may have a couple chokepoints, it's not hard to push a deathball through the center. The HQ are also more vulnerable, so I find myself winning by capture more often than by routing.
Advanxe Wars didn't sell much copies sadly according to this post
. The delay and timing of release are the likely reason.

Just Makima.Oof, that's too bad.
I liked the second and third games well enough, but still skipped out on RBC.
Continue writing our story of peace.

Poking around the Advance Wars character page, and I saw Colin listed as a Zerg Rush character which... I'm not sure really applies to him? I want to replace it with something more fitting, but I can't think of what.
While Colin's units are cheaper and weaker, he can't really get more units than the opponent can and his playstyle isn't built around overwhelming the opponent with numbers (that's more Sensei or Hachi).
He's built around being able to get better, stronger units before his opponent can - he upgrades fast - and eventually being able to toss those strong units out as fast as the opponent can toss out regular units, which skews more towards Elite Army even though he goes about getting that Elite Army in a very different way than usual.
