High School DxD Fanfiction thread

Given that the first episode of the anime only offers a montage, I gotta ask: does the light novel offer any further detail for Issei and Yuuma's date?

I'm wondering, in case I need to invent some characterization for Raynare's little alias...

It does not, no. Actually, the book starts when Ray asks Issie to take her to this conveniently empty park, so we never see the date.

About a rec on a good fanfiction, or at least one that I liked, there's Rise of the solar god, granted Issei is different from the one we are used to but there is a good reason for this, which is explained in the first chapter, and for those who are tired of Rias and the ORC, a man's heart, which attacks the whole "Issei can't confess to Rias due to emotional trauma caused by Raynare" from another angle.

I think the people that don't like Rias miss the point of her character entirely.

But that's just me.

It's rare for me to run into someone that doesn't like Rias specifically. Usually in that case they just dislike all the female cast members in the Occult Research Club.

I can't see anyway to dislike them, though.

Does anybody have fics they recommend that doesn't replace Issei Hyoudou with an OC/_INO?

I have a story I'm running on Questionable Questing, but it's all kinds of NSFW and thus I ought not to link it here.

Also, I haven't updated it since late January. That said, some major differences from canon have already gone down, and it's still extremely early into the story.

What's the fic called?

It's a quest, actually - sort of like an RP, except that the players all are collectively RP'ing as the same character (or faction, in some quests).

It's a lot simpler than it probably sounds.

A little late for this, but I know of one and only one good DxD fanfic which is also a Naruto crossover. That fic is Inheriting a Legacy which is refreshingly free of wanking or character bashing. The author seems much less interested in using Naruto as his personal wish fulfillment agent, like pretty much all the other authors in the Naruto crossover section, and more interested in actually telling a story. In this case that story is this:

The Elemental Nations are a pocket universe attached to DxD Earth in the same manner as heaven and hell and Asgard and the other supernatural realms. Naruto and Jiraiya came to Earth on vacation for Naruto's pre-shippuden training trip, and Naruto and Issei were friends for about a year before Issei became a devil. When Rias learns that Issei is on first name terms with the Great Toad Sage she makes a deal with Jiraiya: he trains Rias and her peerage and they help Naruto out with problems back in the EN. So they all head off, and because this happens mere hours before book 2 would have started, Raiser picks up the trail and goes chasing after his fiance with his whole peerage in tow as well.

The story is just getting into its 4th or 5th chapter last I checked, but it probably deserves a spot on the fanfic recommendations page. Notably, not only is there no character bashing but even the characters who weren't portrayed so well in the anime get a good showing. Raiser's meeting with Issei's parents in particular is comedy gold.

"Pawn" > a pretty decent AU where Issei hasn't joined any peerage - or any faction, really. Yet?

I've already mentioned it on the Naruto forum, but Legacy of the Most unpredictable ninja is pretty good. Naruto starts off kinda marry stuish but gets better as the story goes on

This story is nice. It subverts the whole overpowered at the start Issei cliche by making Issei want to be a normal guy.

That is terrible, I could only read halfway through the first chapter before stoping.

Problems. 1. Issei In Name Only, he's a suave gigolo, reprimands M & M. 2. Somehow became so powerful, now he wants a mundane life for some reason.

Yeah, too many harem leads already want 'an average life with an average girl' and nothing else, so it's hard getting excited over something that goes to the same old well once again.

Updated my quest on Questionable Questing, brilliantly titled "A Harem King Is You!", and at this point I feel pretty comfortable in the claim that I've got one of the best (if not THE BEST) "Raynare-as-heroine" story on the 'net.

You can call it overconfidence if you want, but I prefer to call it damning myself with faint praise. I mean, seriously, have you SEEN some of the crap out there on F Fnet?!

That peculiar moment when you realize you've been planning out Raynare's character arc in a way that almost makes her an expy of Lady Macbeth. And it's only almost because it also makes her a foil at the same time.
