The first two Bat Out of Hell records are pure hammy genius, worth every minute of it (and no filler).
He has a couple other good ones, too (Dead Ringer comes to mind immediately), but he's kinda had a bit of a hit or miss career (long meh period in the 80s comes to mind...).
That said, when Mr. Loaf is on, he is ON!!!

A thread dedicated to the bat out of hell himself. The rock 'n' roll hero. The prize fight lover.
My favorite albums are Bad Attitude and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell. There's not an ounce of filler on either of them (not to diss Bat Out of Hell, I just don't like it as much as the other two. It's probably my 3rd favorite Meat Loaf album, actually), and I'd say they're his strongest musical efforts.
It's a damn shame he's ignoring pretty much all his '80s output except 'Dead Ringer for Love'. Even the title track from Midnight at the Lost & Found hasn't been performed since 2003.
