What is it with WB games being left with their stories hanging like this.
Forgive me for saying this but maybe we should go back to the days when a story was released in a single go. Or is that genie already out of the bottle?
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that. Its not there are plenty of good one and dones
its just the industry isn't focused on making a single hit game...due to the costs of AAA gaming now
Everybody wants a MCU, They want that perpetual money generator
Hence why certain games become more transaction then interaction
This is an outrage against Luminara! The funny thing is there's been only ONE truly successful MCU. The MCU.
I wouldn't say it's the same thing with Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and the like. But even Harry's franchise sputtered off on the Fantastic Beasts spinoff side. Anyway those are not quite the same thing.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.To be more clear Videogames aren't chasing the MCU.
They want to be Fortnite.
They want to be Destiny.
They want to be LOL.
They want to be those perpetual money engines that run forever and have users constantly paying more to be them.
Even WOW, arguably the most long lasting of those money engines has looked at those games and went "Okay but what if some extra microtransactions".
Much like the DCEU and the MCU, we'll probably stop with the Multiversi and the M Ks but keep on with the Fortnites. It's just kinda sad for Warner to be losing on both of those fronts as if they always show up second and fail to ride the wave.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.I think multiversus being f2p and having an unique niche can survive, Mk 1 unfortunately requires far too many resources to keep around, its better for them to just make a neew game
Uni catI will admit I'm a bit disappointed because MK12 did spawn these hilarious edits of two Ghostfaces conversing with each other about their VERY overpowered opponents (really cements that Ghostface could and CAN get turned to mulch by literally EVERYONE).
But I'm also not surprised.
In other news, OH SHOOT, CONAN LOOKS LIKE A BEAST!
That exchange between Conan and Shao makes me think we'll be getting a few Not So Different Remarks between the two.
I was thinking of some concept ideas for fighters for the New Era.
1: Biopunk former Lin Kuei beastmaster:
Maybe there were way worse alternatives to the Cyber Lin Kuei. This fighter was one of the scientists (and he has a rivalry with Sektor) who proposed one way to enhanced the Lin Kuei after splitting from Liu Kang to biologically enhance the Lin Kuei and create some monsters of their own through genetics. Bi-Han went with the Cybers instead, resulting in him leaving and creating his own clan through his own genius in genetics and recruiting disgruntled individuals, seeking to take out Sektor and prove that his option is the best choice forward . I can picture him playing as a beastmaster character, using genetic abominations of his own design to fight alongside him and his Kameo together with whips.
2: Fireman mage:
Given that we have things like practical magic as seen with Smoke, well this raises some potential ideas for fighters. Plus, we never had a firefighter as a Kombatant before. Maybe the OIA wants to use practical magic and they selected a fireman seconded to the OIA for training, resulting in him being trained in water magic. I can picture him fighting with magic alongside his firefighting equipment such as hoses and fire extinguishers.
For extra humor, make him Kurtis Stryker's nephew, brother or son. Just for the interservice banter and jokes between firemen and policemen if Kurtis Stryker is also playable as well with Stryker serving as a complement in theme to our fireman Kombatant.
3: Umgadi Sonya Blade :
In Deadly Alliance Konquest Mode, it was mentioned that Jax uses Fa Jing (or Qi) for his ground pound and the same could be implied for Sonya's energy rings and kiss of death before NRS retconned it to technology . Well, maybe for the New Era, Sonya could have cross trained with the Umgadi as an OIA agent, combining what magical arts she learnt (this provides an explanation for her energy rings) with stuff like gun turrets/drones and bombs.
It's a wasted potential to see how would technology and magic work together in Mortal Kombat and I really wish that the New Era could explore this.
Here's a general question i wanna ask:
Before M 1 K made Tanya definitely be a black woman, what do you consider her ethnicity in the prior games? That's actually hotly debated believe it or not.
You can say "she's clearly a black woman" but isn't it as likely for her to be middle eastern? Then again, we actually don't know how Outworld would classify ethnicities (im opening a whole can of worms, aren't it?)
Uni cat

Or worse, replaced by AI slop in the name of cost cutting.
I do wonder how often it's an specific problem in the US part of gaming
