Anyone else thing that Gremlin from latest episode looked like bigger version of monsters from movie Gremlins?

More like a cartoonier version of the vampire in Legend of the vampire.

The origin of the Scooby Snack episode was pretty fun, and the end where it turns out Shaggy and Scooby don't need to be bribed into doing scary stuff, but only act like it because it gets Fred to buy them food was pretty funny.

Though I'm starting to notice that most of the episodes only have, like, two suspects tops.

[up]It was like that in the original too, for the most part.

I was wondering if people still remembered this was a thing. The new time probably doesn't help.

Ok, Scooby Snack twist was brilliant, On one hand that was interesting Fridge Logic but on the other I was a bit worried that they will end up admitting that original series was messed up story about bribery and Scooby and Shaggy being used.

Still, the best gag: Shaggy: Don't make us use "Good Cop, Dog Cop" routine on you. Scooby: I'm the Good Cop! Shaggy: And I'm the Dog Cop! Scooby: It's counter-intuitive!

Catching up on the swamp episode, I thought Daphne's vampire routine was just an excuse to sound like Mandy again. And if that was Jim Cummings again, maybe he was a firefly in another life to trust that alligator so much!

To be honest, I'm getting a bit tired of Daphne's gig as The Heart. Inspirational speeches get cheesy when you make them every other episode.

Chomps was amazing tho.

So how does this comedic version of Scooby Doo compare to A Pup Named Scooby Doo which was comedy as well?

I've only seen the first 9 episodes, but it is far, far better than A Pup Named Scooby Doo. Pup was a good and funny incarnation, but Be Cool is infinitely more witty, sophisticated and dynamic. The character animations take some getting used to, and it definitely isn't as a great as Where Are You or Mystery Inc, but still awesome. Also some people hate Daphne in this, I think she's a riot.

I don't see the point in comparing it too a Pup Named Scooby Doo specifically, all incarnations of Scooby Doo (except maybe Mystery Inc.) are primarily comedies.

That is true.

The only differences next to art style would be the style of humor used and personalities of the characters...

[up][up] Pup is the last in the franchise to use this same style of self-referential and irreverent humor, at least to the same extent (the animated movies have been putting it in slightly for a few years).

Well, Mystery Incorporated did in the very beginning, but then it got dark and turned into a very different kind of series.

[up]Yeah that's why I mentioned Pup, because it was the only Scooby Doo series that mostly focused on humor, sure Scooby Doo has always had humor but Pup was a special type of off the wall humor for that franchise.

[up]x4 Well that's good, my nephew described it as a Teen Titans Go version of Scooby Doo, so I'll admit I was weary about this.

That's pretty inaccurate.

These characters are still "faithful" in the general sense and you can't exactly change the premise of Scooby-Doo.

[up] True. As I mentioned on another threads, its still does everything that Scooby should do like crazy chases with music.

Also, characters are likeable and balanced, in fact Fred is smarter then he's been in a while.

The Fred who straight-up, no joking, completely seriously, had a fetish for traps? That Fred was cool and inventive, but I think this one might be smarter.

Evolution of Fred:

70's: Boring everyman w/ no characteristics.

Pup: Dumbass.

WNSD?: Trapmaker and good detective skills, but was practically The mystery solving version of Stu Pickles.

Mystery Incorporated: Yeah, most serious Fred i've seen in a long time.

Be Cool: Smartest, and most leadership-centric Fred in a long time, while still being unintentionally funny.

Live action movies: Talking piece of crap.

Animated movies: All over the place, but mostly a combination of WNSD and M. Inc.

To be fair to the Pup version, he's a little boy there.
