[up] In comparing anime from the 60s and 70s to anime these days, it seems it's gotten more limited over time... some of it, that is.

[up][up]I can agree with that. I watch Astro Boy or Lupin then watch Bleach or other modern animes. Both are limited, but latter seems more stiff. At least they have good colors to distract me for a bit :p

then again, I'm not a big anime fan so maybe I'm not seeing something.

[up][up] I don't know. Looking at old anime from before the 90s, it's pretty fluid, though. Not that all the modern stuff is more limited, but the worst animated modern anime are stiffer than a board.

The latest anime I've even been interested in was from 1994.

[up]I'm almost certain that that is not actually true, but I can kind of understand why you would think that given the kind of series we get now as opposed to before, as well as how artstyles have evolved.

[up] That pre-90s anime was fluid? That's not a joke; I've seen a lot of anime from that time period with good fluid movement.

It definitely hasn't gotten more fluid, though, I know that.

[up]I mean in the sense that pre-90s was more fluid then 90s and beyond, particularly in prue "frames per second" sense as well (whgich is admittedly not the best standard).

[up] That's really no joke; there's a lot of TV anime I've seen from the period that, while limited, is pretty fluid and scans good.

[up]I'm not denying that those shows had fluid animation.

[up] I gotta admit, though, some later anime seems stiff to me, and there's some that are incredibly stiff.

Now about the characters from Growing Around possibly looking unnatural when animated...How so? I mean Neither Ren or Stimpy looked natural when they moved, hell they barely looked the same in each scene sometimes.

[up] That's only in APC.

I used that as an example of some of the things an animator would say that would cause him to get fired from this project.

What I meant by it is - imagine trying to animate a child's stick figure. It wouldn't look good, would it?

[up] To be fair though, a lot of great animated movies actually have rough animation. A lot of Ralph Bakshi movies, especially his early ones, come to mind.

Bakshi himself actually prefers doing rough animation, saying that "perfect" animation isn't interesting and robs a film of its energy and vitality.

[up] Yeah, but Bakshi's characters move fluidly.

[up] And we haven't seen how Enter's characters move. I say give him the benefit of the doubt. The characters in Growing Around could incredibly fluent.

[up] With the tools at his disposal, I highly doubt it.

If he uses Flash, and uses the designs in the right way, it COULD look fluid. I high doubt he has even the 12 principles of animation down though.

Then again, this is assuming Mr. Enter is going to animate the cartoon himself. He has a friend who did the designs for the growing around characters, I personally don't think it's a stretch for him to find someone else to animate.

People who know animation are harder to find than cartoonists.

And really? He didn't do the character designs himself? This is a creator-driven toon, right? Shouldn't the cartoon's style bear a resemblance to his own style?

Not exactly. He did have a big hand in creating the designs, he just didn't draw them. Then again, he did post two pictures of the characters he drew himself on DA.

[up] There are about 3 pictures of Growing Around on Enters deviantart. One was drawn by a friend. The other two were drawn by him.

The creator isn't always required to be responsible for how the cartoon looks.
