Yeah, so I just found out about this and watched the first episode(s) and really enjoyed it. It really feels like Gravity Falls only with a Magical Girl / Fantasy bent rather than Sci Fi and Folklore. It's too early to say what the series as a whole will be like, but I'm definitely looking forward to more episodes. Star herself is a bit manic, but I think that the show handles it well and there's plenty of space for Character Development. The general type of humor it seems to be using is right in line with the type of stuff I like, too. Pony Head was kind of annoying, but everything else was pretty solid. I'm loving the self-aware Magical Girl anime style, too.
Also, I'd be surprised if we don't see St. Olga's by the end of the series. It'll either be a prison breakout episode, or it'll turn out that it's nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be.

Reaction Image RepositoryI really wish we had an actual date. At least then I could try to watch it live instead of having to find it later via Perfectly Legal Means.

Well, it's not every day that someone claims that Executive Meddling helped the show.
So, this article apparently states that Star is going to have a "continuing arc". Sounds more like "story arc" to me, or at the very least, continuity of some sort.
Interesting. We don't see that a lot in two-episode cartoons like these. Could this mean that some of the events we saw in the preview episodes will come back to haunt Star later in the series?

Yeah, it's been happening more recently, but it's still kind of uncommon.

I don't know, a sense of continuity has been growing in a lot of the shows on Cartoon Network. Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe all have a strong sense of continuity. Steven Universe in particular has a developing story and looks like it might have a Half-Arc Season weighted with more one shots in the front half (we can't tell yet because the first season still isn't over).
@Sonic: Well, both of the episodes we saw involved St. Olga's, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if it ends up being relevant to future episodes. And Ludo is almost certainly going to show up again.
Reaction Image RepositorySo, Star's been renewed for a second season
. I'm sure you'll recall it hasn't even officially premiered on Disney XD yet.
If this isn't proof that people love this show already, nothing is.

This happens. The Cleveland Show was greenlit for 2 more seasons BE-FORE THE FIRST SEA-SON AIRED.

We may not have seen the show but executives and test audiences probably had so the positive response from that probably.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDisney's official press release for the announcement
goes into more detail, including info on another preview episode hitting WATCH Disney XD on the 23rd.
Yeah, but even so, those focus groups aren't always good indications of overall quality. I mean, I liked the preview well enough, so I'm happy to see that what they have so far is strong enough to get renewed already, but it's still kind of odd that they're investing so much into it even though the general public hasn't seen much of it.

The ratings were about the same as the other Disney XD cartoons get when they hop over to Disney Channel, but nothing special.
Honestly, I am surprised that it was announced this early, but it actually makes sense when you think about it. Season 1 only has 13 episodes, and it wouldn't really be fair to pull the plug that quickly. And if you wait to pick it up, then it's another situation like Gravity Falls, which had a full year between the end of its Season 1 and the start of Season 2 because of how late it got renewed.
The press release also confirms the originally announced and then rescinded premiere date: Monday, March 30 at 8:00PM Eastern, with the preview episode from January followed by a new one.
Never be normal.

One thing I really liked in this episode was the reference to Dance Dance Revolution.
I'm a really really big fan of DDR and Hardcore. So that was neat.
