Someone got footage of a PTU officer applying pepper sprays to an elderly person. The latter was grabbed by said officer on the shoulder first before said event happened.

The Protestors have been given a deadline
Oh how I hate Mondays.
Which the organizers have known from the very beginning. They've made their point, when eventually everyone goes home, they merely start planning for the next action.

I'm done trying to sound smart. "Clear" is the new smart. An Amercian expat in China has his opinion on why he doesn't support the protests.
Counterpoint:
1) If the rumors are right the PRC actually doesn't want to interfere too much with Hong Kong affairs. The problem is that there are "pro-Beijing" groups and parties in Hong Kong who seem to keep missing that memo and try to kiss the PRC's ass.
2) It's not just that simple as "the PRC wants to scan through the candidates" - as mentioned in my translated article people in Hong Kong does not mind the PRC having the final say on who gets to be the chief executive. The problem now they're having is that the current progress that generates chief executive is completely broken and heavily skewered towards businesses (1200 election committee and you can only take part either to choose those people or to become one of those people if you own business, and the more you own the more influence you get). It is the developers and massively rich people who are in control. And the proposed "reform" makes this problem worse as those 1200 people are still in complete control.
Not to mention saying that "democracy is bad because Bush" is ignoring all those times when the US system is working properly (only 4 elections out of 57 where there have been problems is very impressive).

I like how he complains about racist views of mainland china from Hong Kong and then goes and says " In actuality all Hong Kong people came from the Mainland, this is a proven fact as every Hong Kong citizen can trace their roots back to the Mainland."
Yea, sure, no one who lives in hong kong comes from any other country right?
